I've just realised how difficult battles are going to be for FemHawke. She's fighting darkspawn or qunari or whatever then she turns... and sees Varric doing that adorable stubby leg waddle and then she just HAS to pick him and go "AWWWW!" at the top of her lungs but by then the attacking enemy has hit her over the head.

Very difficult.

I don't think the fabric itself is animated, I believe it's just tied to the running animation.

So. The character page on the main site still hasn't been updated. This leads me to believe that we only get the four companions as true, stickwitu companions. Which means Isabela is our bisexual lover, Aveline is your straight for a man lover, and Varric and Fenris fill the two roles for the females and one for the male.



I'm guessing that Varric is the bisexual one, because he's got style and flair. More than Fenris.

Conflicts for the romance? Interesting thought. For one thing, I usually like to play a pretty straight up good girl my first play through, where Varric strikes me as a more self-serving type. I can picture some arguments over what she's doing, especially when she gets more power. Also, family disapproval, yes. Romantic positions, yes. Who wears the pants (two headstrong people headbutting), yes.

Very interesting.

I know, but they're sure taking their time with the updates! So I'm going off of what's up and official. Merrill is supposedly confirmed, but she's not up on the main site, so until she is... She's just a temporary companion in my book.

I'm not sure. At least my Shepherd didn't get a fling with anyone. I thought the fling might add an additional bit of texture and perhaps options for rivalry with other party members. You know, make jealous or to get revenge for a flirt with someone else.

Well, people were flung out of airlocks and out skyscraper windows in ME2 if that's what you mean...

I'm thinking right now the companions so far revealed are ones that'll be around for most of the game, while others we'll be appearing In-n-Out (mmm... double-doubles...) of the game as time jumps happen.  I gots no data to back up my idea though...

I think the only one that I can say fits to that is Varric.  He has to stick around most of the time otherwise why would Cassandra be questioning him for the "real scoop" when half of it is still bull[bleep] and there's nothing Varric or Cassandra can do about it?

That's a really good point. Varric has to be with Hawke in order to explain Hawke's history. So I would think that he'd be a prime candidate for LI. Even if it's a rivalry path, you can still have hate sex with him.

Just Kelly Chambers your assistant, and she isn't a temporary companion just someone you work with. You never know, we might get flings akin to Isabela at the Pearl in DA2 at least.

RE: LI/storytelling:  Yeah ever since it was first known that Varric would be narrating the story of Hawke's life the way he is I've been saying he'd make a great LI, it could even tie into exaggerations. Plus he is guaranteed to be unkillable at least until the end of the game. However he could also just be getting told about anything he misses while travelling with Hawke by other companions, including the romantic side of it.
