We have already been told companions will form friendships/rivalries of their own. I'm assuming that someone -either Hawke or his/her lover- spilled the beans to Varric. That of course, assuming the unlikely case that Varric wasn't the target of Hawke's affections.

Hawke actually has a ten year dry spell. He/she is kinda clumsy with the ladies/men and Varric cannot help himself and embellishes the tale out of pity.

I hate to spread my misery even further, I think, but what are the chances now? There are two attractive male companions, one is an elf, one is a human, there is yet another fine specimen from downloadable content. Varric is a dwarf, a reason that is too much for a lot of people.



Should there perhaps be hope for a Mass Effect 2 type solution? It had many love interests, even from alien species, and it was shorter than the first game.

His chances were about the same they were before. Even if you thought it wasn't Anders (and I mean, come on) there was still 'unknown human male mage'. I don't see how it has changed, really. So I still remain firmly in the "It won't happen, but I would like it to" camp.

Sorry, but there are four attractive male companions (five, if you count Carver). Even people with an aversion to dwarves should be able to admit that he's attractive by dwarven standards. Above and beyond, actually.

Oh, I agree. Just saying that there are plenty of people who say he's ugly, his face is too bumpy, etc. or don't even give him a second glance precisely because he's a dwarf.
