This, exactly, is why I am not crying about the news.  I look forward to Varric at any rate, and romance is not the be all and end all of a character.  If my Hawke can't do 'im, then at least they'll get a hot wingman.

I don't see the point in getting into fights with anyone. Sure, some of them may be smug ****s, but do we really want to sink to their level? Meh. Just drop it.

Who's fighting where? I haven't seen any of this mockery someone was referring to a page back or so, unless it's in the reveal thread itself, which I stopped reading. But I've been following the Anders/Merril/Fenris threads most of today and haven't seen any mockery of the Varric-ship, or his not making LI status. In fact, there are quite a few fans of the other 'ships' that are also fans of Varric who are just as disappointed.

I think once the game comes out, the heartbreak will subside. While Varric may not be an LI and a lot of people attached much love, hope, and adoration for his character, its very possible there is another LI that will shock and simply fall into the laps of many a surprised gamer.



Hell. I get the impression many people with firm allegiances to one LI right NOW will probably switch teams. Fenris might come across as a total douche, Anders may go into "OMG TEAR OFF HEAD DRINK BLOOD" mode and throw people off his tail. There's not a lot to go on right now, except ten second clips, some screenshots, and a hand full of short stories.

This. I just went back to reread the Anders and Fenris thread and am NOT seeing anything like that. I only saw one or two posts lamenting Varric not being an LI as well. Granted I haven't been reading the reveal thread either, but I think it'sa bit much to just generalize all the Ander and Fenris fans like that.

True, there's nothing like that in the Fenris thread for example. I'm a Fenris fan but was hoping for Varric to be romancable too, I can tell you that the disappoinment is here even if I get to romance the elf.

Ah, I should have quoted. It was referring to a post on the previous page. Just meant that if you see someone being a smug jerk (and they have been before so it's not anything new), don't indulge them with a response or fight with them.

I'm actually quite looking forward to all the characters, whether or not my PC can have sex with them is irrelevant. Though I am kinda banking on Fenris being the m/m LI, otherwise I'll only have an Isabela romancing Lady Hawke.

Pretty much. There may be some flirty dialog that can be used and you could make a short love scene, but a whole romance would be a lot of work.
