It'll be alright. Once the toolset comes out, just give the modders a couple days and Varric's chest hair can forever be yours!

It's what I had to do for Alistair and my male Warden (who also became "queen" of Ferelden), but I REGRET NOTHING!!!!

Hate to say it... but switching a male character to register as a female to Alistair isn't the same as creating a mod that makes Varric a romance option. One romance already existed and one doesn't exist at all.

Say that to Ser Gilmore. And Jowan. And Cullen.

Lol, even if someone made that mod I would never use it. If the game doesn't give it to me, I ain't want it. And it isn't so I won't have it.

So you're saying that what they did amounted to the same thing as changing sex recognition?

What I'm saying is that romance mods have been created where there was none before.

Ok...

Switching male a male character to register as a female character isn't the same as implanting a romance that doesn't exist in the first place... like Gilmore and Jowan and Cullen.

And making a romance mod of a temp companion isn't the same as making a romance mod of a full time companion/narrator.

Never saw the Loghien one. Now that would be kinda similar. But is it any good?

That Gilmore mod DID make him a full time companion, though. And a fan voiced one.

Not what I meant. I meant Varric's ALREADY a full time companion (and narrator), making it far more difficult than adding one that's never been a full timer.

I would say making a Varric romance mod would be one HELL of a tough task. Making one that is consitent with the quality of the other romances tougher still. CLOSE to impossible. Not quite impossible though...

If it's clearly a mod and just can't compare to the other "official" romances (which is far more likley than the alternitive)... do you really want to risk rendering your save file null and void for a shoddy makeshift romance?

They were able to make whole romances from relative scratch for Bishop and.. Neeshka in NWN2. Of course, they weren't voiced though (...I don't think).

So my FemHawke can romance an elf that's kind of an **** and can phase through people and crush their organs, a cannibalistic abomination or a pirate lady.

Guess that settles it, FemHawke is a lesbian. No straight "lighthearted" romances.

Well the Anders romance will be half lighthearted... right? I imagine...

He eats people, likes the taste of their blood and doesn't remember what's going on what he does "mage out". This is probably before he meets Hawke, meaning he'll probably be getting worse in the following ten years. Soon he'll eat people when he's regular Anders and say "I learned to adapt to the taste" and we're all going to giggle and hope the power of love will save him.

I don't want that, so FemHawke is a lesbian!

Varric thread, you have my deepest condolences. Aimo your art is brilliantly poignant and I wish all of you all the luck in the world that you get a Garrus style comeback in DA3.

Now I shall take my leave.

Kinda been leaning towards Isabela myself lately. Not that I don't think both those boys aren't hotty potatoes, but OMG Isabela is like Sex on Two Gorgeous Thighs.

I freaking love her. Best BI option I've seen in a LONG time.

I don't think its fair to crush down Anders yet. He also saves little kids and is redeeming his angry soul. And he might hold the key to saving mages from Abomination status.

Not fully voiced, no. The person who did most of the coding for that doesn't play Dragon Age.

Still, where there are talented people who want to make something happen, it will happen. Plus, scripting in the DA:O engine seems to be more robust than scripting in the NWN2 OC. Modding in a Varric romance does not seem impossible. Image IPB

That is not lighthearted at all...

But bumped him up to second most wanted companion after Varric in my book. Honestly that sounds like an insanley intresting LI though.

Sounds far more intresting than the female LI's. I'm actually kinda jealous that female Hawke gets such a unique LI option.

I do not think Anders is irredeemable. We don't know he is going to be a complete abomination either. Remember he is learning to control the thing. I also think it may be possible to redeem Justice in some way or coerce Vengeance into willingly leaving Anders. Perhaps the catalyst will be freeing the circle from Chantry control. This is a worthy goal indeed. So, I wouldn't write him off just yet. Besides, if it all goes sideways, we have Varric to help up us commiserate.

Don't know much about Merrill because I didn't read her spoilerific GI preview but I'm quite happy with the thought that we have lighthearted romance, though if Merrill is dark I'll even be happier because we have a choice (this, of course, assuming Izzy is lighthearted and she looks the part).

FemHawke straight options seem to be dark, dark and more dark until you can barely see anything. While I like dark romances, some lightheartedness would be nice! :P

@Dave...Yes. This worries me. Al was such a nice, lighthearted romance. Now we get scary and angry twice over. Yeesh! I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The good part is, I wasn't really interested in either of these characters as LI's. So, it'll be interesting to see how this plays.

Edit: @ Wishpig...Never played Jade Empire.  So the reference escapes me.

That's jumping to conclusions a little. Zevran's life wasn't exactly ponies and rainbows either but it didn't make him a dark romance option filled with nothing but wangst and /wrists.

You're essentially having a threesome. And one of the party is ragey.
