Lolz, thanx man.  I maaay have overrecated with the stereo to the face bit...sooo, sorry for that.  

 But, for what you just did above, I can tell that you are a good guy. What you did up there just makes you more manly/grown up than many posters on this entire Bioware forum.

I just read that story, but does it say he drinks the blood like it was wine, but nothing about eating. when fighting the skin and flest is burnt of ect and I know it says "ot the aftermath of a battle as I've known it, but a bloody abattoir of rent limbs and torn and eaten flesh."  - ok maybe eaten eww lol

I think Varric is so far one of the most superior dwarven companions we ever had in the DA-verse. Next to Sigrun, who was fecking adorable.

I'm keeping that Varricmance banner in my sig until there are brand new ones...

Also, I've been planning to retire as OP for some time now and I was wondering who'd like to admin a new "main post" perhaps on the 600th page? Doesn't have to be the 600th, though. Just a new post in the same thread.

I will link the new "main post" on the OP and perhaps "clean up" (as in EMPTY) the current OP.

I hope the new "admin" of Varric thread would be able to constantly update the "main post" with anything and everything Varric, and if possible, keep it clean and neat, ala Garrus' Calibration Thread. My exams this year still have to come first, so I need to step down...

Well, while my thoughts on the whole situation have not changed, I'm feeling a bit loquacious.

I was not expecting Varric to be a love interest. Did I want it? Yeah. Was I hoping that my overwhelming cynicism might prove me wrong once? Yeah. Did I actually think it would happen? Nope. But such is life and I'm not gonna get mad over it. Considering the data about dwarves in DAO and the forumdwellers (and some devs) reactions to the mere thought of a dwarf/human romance I wasn't expecting anything at all. That a dwarf was put in such a major role within the story (and isn't ugly or old or some stereotype) is pretty awesome, as far as I am concerned.

Would it have been nice to see a company I respect as much as BioWare support a less traditional LI? Of course. But I don't believe that BioWare has any social responsibility and must provide as such, especially when they need to make a profit. I get the economics, I get that if it doesn't work in a story, it doesn't work. I get that if the writers don't wanna do it, they don't have to do it. Sure, I am disappointed but it's not like being to shtup Varric was the only thing I had any interest in. I've been excited for this game for waaaaay too long to only have a single thing to like about it. Just... it would have been nice to have a non-traditional looking fantasy character (aka not a beautiful human or lithe, exotic elf) as a love interest for once. I thought Varric might have been able to fit the bill despite his role as narrator, which I am sure if there was a desire to could have been made to work. But whatever, I trust BioWare to do what is best for the story, and I always root for the underdog so I'm used to not "winning", hehe. I ain't mad.

But really, I am looking forward to this game. I still want to play it just as much as I wanted to this morning before romances were "revealed". I am interested in (mostly) every character and how they fit into the story. I am interested in the world. I am interested in just how Hawke rises to power. I am interested in Hawke's relationships with all the characters, whether it be with family or friends or a lover. I am interested in the frame narrative and the narrator, of course. I can't wait to play the game and experience it all for myself. I trust that the characters will be well-crafted and compelling regardless of whether or not my Hawke can have sex with them. So even if Varric ends up with a wife and 2498324 kids, or with a crippling Qunari fetish, or ends up falling in love with Cassandra, or tries to kill the party in a rage after Hawke accidentally hit Bianca with Cone of Cold and causing her to shatter... I am confident he'll be a great character, and I can't wait to see what they do with him. Maybe I have set my expectations of BioWare a bit high, but still.

So I'll be here, writing my love poems next to Ancient Tevinter while waiting for March. Stupid Sexy Varric xD

And can we get a short story too? Please? It was kind of a kick in the arse that there wasn't one, especially when the stories weren't even romantic, lol.

Perhaps...because the non-LI's will be getting character trailers first?

Anyway, here's to the fandom falling madly in love with Varric in DA2 and securing him a spot as an LI in DA3. (I have a pretty good feeling this will be the case; call it a gut feeling.)

It's possible those short stories may have been a last minute write-up each writer did for their characters. Since Mary's on vacation, it's probably why Varric didn't get one, perhaps? Then again, neither did Aveline which makes my whole theory moot. =p

I expected as narrator that it would be difficult to work in. Too much of a chance for Cassandra to call bull on it and always make it questionable after the fact anyway.
