Varric now has exactly 3x the number of 'look meaningfully into fireplace' moments as any other follower. That I know of. And I've only really looked at Varric.

Agreed about the Alistair relationships, whether you take the love track or the friend track. I was so upset when I got dumped my first playthrough I actually had to step away from the console and take a breather, which, really, I see as a good thing since the game made me care so much. And then he went and kamikaze'd on me later. *shakefist*

Anyway regardless of whether Varric is an LI, I'm sure there will be equally compelling relationships. At least that's my hope!

Also, John now looks like Professor Farnsworth in my head.

A little off-topic-ish, but one of the dwarven merchants during the Dwarf Commoner Origin indicates that the Chantry can marry surface dwarves. It may imply that some surface dwarves are Andrastians.

And on-topic-ish: every time I eat a Lemington or wash my hands with coconut-scented soap, I think of Varric.

Some of them are Andrastians. Sort of. Surface dwarves are in a weird place for religion. They believe that The Stone will reject them -- if they believe in The Stone at all -- so that's no good. But they don't go to the Fade, so getting to The Maker after death might be sort of tricky. Many of them attend the Chantry enough to avoid making waves and blend in a bit, but surface dwarves generally don't see much point in being devout.

Surface dwarves pretty much come in two types: Live for the moment, or Unspeakably dour. The future does not really look bright from their point of view, so they either don't think about it, or dread it with the power of ten thousand suns.

I think Mary said earlier that it was a coincidence and is in fact named after a character from a Shakespeare play. Taming of the Shrew?

I have not played any Assassin's Creed, though I really should, as I am already well aware that Optimus Prime was stuck into the level art somewhere in the first one. That's recommendation enough, really.
