Other narrator wise: I would seriously love a Qunari narrator, albeit for a briefer time than some of the others/Varric, it would be a hilarious change of pace.

A mage could be interesting if they are all being interogated by Cass. Or how about a narrator who isn't a companion, but is an antagonist who narrates a specific portion of the game? Would be like having the game turn against you.

Hawke walks along the road and suddenly comes across a bunch of orphans
Orphans: Help us our orphanage burned down, we're hungry, our clothes were eaten by frogs and if anything happens to us the world will be consumed by eldritch fungus monsters who makes terrible jokes all day long and expects you to laugh at them.
Hawke: No because I'm pure evil unlike my enemies who are all saints who defeats the darkspawn and qunari, ends all famines and have really nice shoes.
Hawke kills half the orphans and rapes the other half while feeding them the dead orphans. He then proceeds to burn a nug.
Cassandra: You know, this seems awfully different from what the other guys told me, are you sure that's how it happened?
Narrator: Don't believe that rubbish those other guys are trying to make you believe. The reason you haven't seen the fungus monsters is because I, being the hero with lovely shoes that I am, defeated them with nothing but my cut off toenails.
Cassandra: Gross!
Narrator: Thats what the fungus monsters thought too.
Cassandra: Hmmm...
The narrator proceeds to tell about when Hawke tortured the members of The Organisation Of Innocent And Helpless People to death

Merchant Princes are actually just people at the top of trading companies, they wouldn't have a crown.

Edit: Although, Varric would look spiffy with a crown.

Varric strikes me as eccentric enough that he could pull off wearing a crown regardless of whether Merchant Princes usually do.

It seems pretty likely that you meet him upon reaching Kirkwall, where he promptly sells Hawke a large number of items that he doesn't actually need. Okay now I'm picturing Varric as played by Omid Djalili and it's amazing.

Na, Varric would probably be too badass for tea. The chalice is the Grey Warden chalice and he's drinking Darkspawn Blood like it was water.
