Agreed, I mean one thing that bugged me was how we had Alistair 2.0, and Morrigan, now with more angst, less smarts and funny.

Back on topic, I sure would like Varric to be romanceable, but this is from only judging him by his artwork.

I absolutely hate describing new companions by naming old ones, but there's only so much we can go on at this point. 

I agree that he does seem to be a character that would be prone to snark. It's half the reason why I want him to be an LI so badly. That and the chest hair. 8D

There is still hope, yes!! I will remain confident until we get a definite "no. he's not. stop creeping on the dwarf." Until then, he's a possible LI until proven otherwise. :3

Varric is from a trading family, who tells exagerated legends and is charismatic, funny and bit snarky, of course he's a rogue. That smirk alone is the smirk of a rogue.

It looks like they've already done some tweaking from the shot we were given at Gamescom. I was able to get a few screengrabs from the U-Stream yesterday, and even if they're a bit blurry, he doesn't look bad at all.

Wow, a little round faced, kind of seems to be lacking the snarky-sleazy charm he has in his concept art, he kind of gives me the impression of one of those stereotypical overweight business men sitting in their huge chairs. But I'll get over it, it's not that bad.

But I must say, the details of the characters are really quite impressive in that shot.

Yup! Well, Varric and one other. Still:

You basically got a name check as far as I could tell Calla, they mentioned someone who really likes Peter Bramhill.

I got another couple of questions answered, but not Varric related this time. I did find out DG wrote Cass, wonder if she is anything like Morrigan? Heh.
