I say the only unhealthy level of obsession when it comes to Varric is not being obsessed. In that case then you're clearly dead (or dying).

Honestly I think his in game model looks great, I loved the first time I got to see him and Cass talking, the animators have done a fantastic job with his mannerisms and such - even blurry!
