Hey, humans and Vulcans can have children together...

They are the same base species - see Star Trek lore.  Technically, Human and Vulcan are subspecies, as the Founders went scattering their DNA all over the galaxy.  They have specialized biologies for their planets, but share most of the same biology.  For one thing, they have the same chirality.

However, in the Mass Effect universe they went through a lot of trouble to establish that Quarians and Turians are an alien species and they have little to nothing in common with Humanity.  Except that we all like to boink blue chicks.

I don't see any reason not to have this in the game.. its not like we would be forced to watch it happen.. they could just say that they recently found out that species X is able to mate with species Y. Its not like we would be asking to be able to do it with any race out there..

Or just let the doctors discover a way to make it happen.. heck, the people on BW were medic students.. they should know if that would be possible or not.. :)

This is the Star Trek syndrome; the falsified conception that all species in the Universe have human-compatible reproductive organs and methods.

The - imo - only acceptable "hybrids" are Asari + x as they require no physical "merging" to be able to reproduce- though they are all asari in the end and only inherit some of the "father's" traits. Although most species are humanoid in the ME universe; the Turians and Quarians share a completely different - and hence incompatible - DNA structure.

Krogan and salarian probably resemble each other as well due to their more amphibian traits.

Hanar can fulfil some of the more deviant japanese fantasies though.

Althoug - with reserve - with all the progress genetics and medecine has done in that universe... it is likely the issues were potentiall circumvented... but again... not all are mamals (unless specified elsewhere) and have likely organ incompatibilities rendering intergender reproduction impossible.

Over here.

We don't much like the idea either.  It's the "biologically impossible" thing.

Well, who's to say ME species weren't all seeded by a race of "Sowers"? :P

On a serious note though, see http://tvtropes.org/...in/LegoGenetics on why it's probably a bad idea.

No, No, No, NO.

Mass Effect does its best to be realistic and not completely perverted. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. AND JUST THINKING ABOUT IT IS SCREWED UP. You don't have sex with a dog hoping that you can have half-dog children. IT IS NOT NORMAL.

No.

I'll echo the others and say it is biologically impossible. It's not going to happen. Ever.

Morally wrong? Depends on who you ask, but it's not about the morals of it, it's about the fact that it simply cannot happen. Ever. Turians and quarians are dextro-DNA. Humans and turians/quarians can't even eat the same foods (for the most part), never mind having children.

No. No. No. No.

What the hell!?

Interspecies mating is the equivalent of a human having children with a dog. This thread is sick. SICK.

Probably not.. but then, why shouldn't it be possible? Its the future so its not like the docs in the future couldn't do something about the difference in genes.. heck, people have been mixing one species with another in real life.. so why shouldn't it be possible in the ME universe... (Alien Predator anyone?)

in real life it only works with species with similar genes... no way that creatures that evolved seperately (ME's races) can create "hybrid" children, which is also why you never see hybrid adults.

maybe you're the one that's sick, when you go straight to dogs. asari are obviously a lot more like humans than dogs - and even if they weren't it wouldn't matter, if they're hot.

No, it's not. Dogs are not sapient. Turians, quarians, humans, hanar, krogan, asari, salarians, and anything else I missed are sapient. That is the key difference you're missing.

It's not about the morals, it's just really bad science, and smacks of nothing but wilful "I don't care, I just want babies with my <insert alien race> lover" wish-fulfilment if you're advocating for it.

If a dog was sapient it would be okay, then?

The problem is - IT'S A VIDEO GAME.

I am a Mass Effect freak. I LOVE this game. But to go THAT far? It's messed up. It's really messed up.

I love Garrus...but hybrid mutant babies? Please, for the love of good sci-fi, NO. The mere thought of this sends me spazzing into uncontrollable convulsions and mouth-foaming. Relationships with sapient beings, sure. Having children with sapient aliens? No. Not biologically feasible.

If a dog were sapient, it wouldn't be filling the role you define as a 'dog role,' one of a pet. It would be an equal with civilizations, government, and all the good stuff that makes humans an intelligent species. Thus, your stigma against it would probably not exist. You're hung up on the idea of a human having intercourse with a 'lower' animal.

Of course, my point will be lost in your trolling attempts and you'll just call me a pervert, so meh. <_<

The dog is completely equal in social stigma. You still want to have sex with it?

And, plus, hybrid babies are sterile freaks. You WANT to do that?

What about Asari? They don't have your DNA, but it's your kid. You still won't escape this paternity suit.
