But a serious answer now, If it isn't asari don't count on it. I mean do we really want things like Salarian X Krogan, Hanar X Human(...), or even Turian X Volus to start popping up?

Hah! Reminds me of a certain game vendor's comments on Asari-Hanar porn games (which are apparently really nasty! Who could've imagined that?! <_<).

I'd recommend reading Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku. Although he goes to pretty radical lengths to try to list things as possible, that really aren't, he portrays FTL travel quite accurately. Actually your source is out-dated.  Dark energy which has an effective negative curvature on space-time and thus is effectively 'negative mass' (per mass-energy equivalnace) does exist and it's existance is fundamental to cutting edge models of the inflationary model of the universe and have been since the turn of the century.

I'm not saying that harnessing such energy for FTL Alcuberri Warp Drives would be easy or cheap, but global FTL travel does lie within the bounds of possible physical abeit just barely (and btw because of this so does time travel...it turns out the two are equivalent).

I'd add Olaf Stapledon's "Star Maker" for plenty of really ALIEN aliens, though it can be somewhat plodding.  Then again, every fan should read at least one SF novel from the 1930's.

As for the original topic, as the various aliens are presented in the Mass Effect Universe, cross-species children are simply not possible (at least not as generally understood). Quarians and Turians don't even have the same protein chirality as the other species, so that's flatly impossible even by artificial means. The only possible way I could think of otherwise would be to take the genetic material from both "parents" and somehow reconstruct a "child" from that genetic material from scratch......and I just don't see any species having the technology or willingness to do that.



The closest seems to be Asari who take 'information' from other species and encode it in their own reproductive DNA.



So no....no hybrid "Spocks" in Mass Effect.

It's okay to love and have sexual relations with an alien (not the shifty looking cows), it's the Hybrid/monster children that's at issue here.
