I recently stumbled upon this game again, and remembered how much I enjoyed playing it, so I thought I'd give it another whirl. Unfortunately, I am now attempting to play it on a different computer, and have had several issues. All of them I have been able to resolve except for one. I have installed the BG2 patch, and I am running the game as administrator (only way it wouldn't ask me to reinstall the game).

The problem I am having is that the game will not recognize my keystrokes. I found this out as I was attempting to name a character. The only related topic I could find was one about a wireless keyboard not working. Well, my keyboard is not wireless.

Any help that can be given will be appreciated.

EDIT:

I guess I should include that I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

http://forums.biowar...724902&forum=10 Well, there's that topic on the old forums and I think there might have been a few others around there somewhere.

Out of interest, is the keyboard always unresponsive? I used to have a problem with Icewind Dale 2 where the keyboard was sometimes unresponsive but if you held down the keys it would eventually work. Never could find a solution.

As far as I can tell it is always unresponsive. Sat there for a solid minute or so trying to type. Reloaded the game etc.Hoping the solution from the posted thread "just waited and it started working" will work for me.

Is it possible that you're using a language configuration or other keyboard configuration setting that BG2 does not support? For example, if the keyboard was set to Chinese, I doubt BG2 would know how to display the characters.

What about control keys, do these work? When you're in the game, can you initiate a conversation with F1? Can you exit the inventory with Esc? Can you go through dialogs with Enter or even select dialog options with numbers?
