I just updated the game through Impulse, and was proped by the EA dragons age app to reactivate my key.  I enter the key using the same account I have been using and I get the message.

"The product key entered cannot be used to activate this game."

Is the activation server down or something?  I've been using all the downloaded stuff and the account with no issue before this update.

I have the exact same problem- I went on EA's tech support chat, -first they siad to uninstall it, and then reinstall- that didn't help. I tried agian and the tech said he had to "kick it up the ladder." I am waiting for an email. Game was working fine until I downloaded the patch, which, in retrospect, I didn't actually need.

Same issue here. All was fine yesterday, installed patch and asked to re-register.

Does it ask for it everytime you try to play?

Basically it acts like it's never been registered and won't start the game until it gets a "valid" registration code. Unfortunately it doesn't like my registration code (as someone mentioned it may be because that code is already activated).

Well, I sadly don't have an impulse copy. Have you tried using the EADM and seeing if you can play with it installed?

http://eastore.ea.com/eadm

It uses a different copy protection so it may let you play by just installing and activating it.. however I'm not sure. If you have to you can just reinstall through the EADM and it should work with the patch.

I have the same problem, but as my copy is from Impulse and I didn't archive it before doing anything reinstall requires re downloading 7.77GB at 320kb/s...

Same problem. And I bought on impulse specifically so I didn't have to run EADM. Again, DRM hurting the paying customer 1st and foremost. I wonder how long I'll put up with that stuff...

My copy from Impulse also stopped working after installing the 1.0.1 patch through impulse. Registration screen comes up, refuses to accept my key.

DRM fail. I bet people who pirated their copy don't have to deal with this crap...

perhaps messaging Impulse on this as well since it may be an issue with their patch

The same thing happened to me. I've replied to the relevant post on the Impulse forums already.
I checked my registered game promotions and those have all become Unrecognized, as of today. Do you other people who are having this problem see the same thing? It might just be something between EA and Impulse that will be fixed when someone flicks a switch somewhere... which they haven't done. And probably won't until tomorrow.
I needed a day off anyway after playing the game like a full-time job since release... but I didn't want the day off forced on me. =p

Do any of you have the impulse install files still? How are they packaged?

I got mine through Impulse as well. I have the exact same problems. This is insanely annoying.

BTW. I've installed using the EADM and was able to successfully uninstall EADM and still play the game.

No, my promos are still recognized on the social site.  This is just the in-game DRM failing.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. After updating it won't allow me to access the game. I've also contacted Impulse.

It really burns me that I've planned ahead and set aside one of the few nights I'll have this month all to myself for DAO. And now I can't play it because of stupid activation issues? AFTER I've already activated it once.

I don't know if it's Impulse, EA or this "open beta" social site but whatever it is, please someone fix the damned thing so I don't have to waste my time on issues like this or I won't waste my money on products like this any more.

Same problem here. I use a service like impulse because I recognize that DRM has a place in the future of PC gaming. Impulse gets my business because they told me they'd make sure I diddnt have to worry about it.

As it is, my friend who pirated this game can play it just fine and it's only the non-pirates that have problems.

The security is getting ridiculous. My DLC is still recognized, but apparently the actual game isn't.

Attempting to chat to EA (20 minutes into the 28 minute wait) to see if that brings about a faster solution to this.

Edit: Not EA but Bioware through the dragonage social site.

I'm pretty sure its an impulse issue. As the EADM setup doesn't ask for the key after the first time you activate it to your account. Also the DVD version only asks during install.

have you all tried the VC++ fix? in the sticky above?

I know it doesn't help..but Direct2Drive had no such issue, and I was simply able to install the patch from the site here, it's part of the reason I went with them. It's a shame to hear about though. I avoided EA because of EADM, and I avoided Impulse because I'd heard of these sorts of issues coming up before. Looks like D2D was the correct choice.

They could try it, but the problem they're having is something else, I'd wager.

Up until now the activation window was launching, but I was getting the message about how my account doesn't have Dragon Age activated. Now, for no apparent reason, I instead get the AWC.dll error with the message "The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again." I didn't do anything to change my install in any way since this problem started, and even after reboot the messages were consistent until about five minutes ago. Strange.
