have you all tried the VC++ fix? in the sticky above?
Its definatley not that. Its not that the start button won't work, its a glitch in the EA login.

Up until now the activation window was launching, but I was getting the message about how my account doesn't have Dragon Age activated. Now, for no apparent reason, I instead get the AWC.dll error with the message "The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again." I didn't do anything to change my install in any way since this problem started, and even after reboot the messages were consistent until about five minutes ago. Strange.
do you have a file in your dragon age/bin_ship (wherever you installed to ) directory called EACore_app.ini and EACoreServer.exe?

So the impulse version of patch 1.01a definitly screwed something for me. I'm still juggling with the idea of reapplying the patch now and see if it bugs again, but having a working version now (albeit unpatched), I don't think that'll happen tonight.
Obviously, unless you can/want to reinstall, that of little help, but at least that's an option... This being said, I hope the people responsible are looking into this an can provide us with a working patch asap.

This is ridiculous. It's a single player game, why do I have to re-re-re-validate something I've already bought. Fix it...
In the meantime, you've lost an ME:2 sale.

This game is going to rank up there with Ultima 7 as one of the best games I owned but never got to play because of technical problems.

Alright. My reinstallation is over (I had archived the original install through the impulse client download&archive feature) and guess what, it works. I didn't reinstall the patch though.

Everything updated by the patch can be found in bin_ship if you did decide to try the update from here. The information would be pretty useful. Glad you can enjoy the game though.
err. I mean it can be found there so you can back that folder up before installation of the patch.

Lesson learned. My wife is playing her game now and she purchased from Steam. I think she is laughing at me now....

Ok, I made a copy of the whole bin_ship folder and I'm reinstalling the patch (through impulse). I'll post back when that's done.

Go to your hard drive and locate EACore_App.ini file (Mine was in C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Electronic Arts\\\\Dragon Age Origins\\\\bin_ship on default installation).
Take out wrong file paths and point to the X86 folder, my file below. Now deal with EA for re-registering the game
More and more I think it is anti piracy solution forcing everyone to re-register

Oh. I meant to try the one here ( I thought you had installed the impulse ones before ) but maybe I misread.
Thanks for taking the time to try though. Also, since you did archive your install files. How does impulse store them? Is it one big protected exe. or are there a number of rar files like the DVD and EADM versions have?

This past Sunday I downloaded the patch and I was not able to play the game. I kept clicking on the play button but the darn thing would not start. I had to reinstall the game and was able top play. Just make sure that when you uninstall the game that you don't uninstall your saved games unless thats something you don't care about.

There's a sticky at the top of the forum addressing the issue.

It's one big obfuscated file. For me it's located in
C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\Stardock\\Impulse\\backup
is named
Dragon Age Origins1.00.002_11.03.2009.impulse
and is 7.87gig large.

No, no there isn't. This is a different issue that happened TODAY not several days ago.
