Hi Guys,

I checked and checked and checked all the FAQs to see if this particular problem was there so I'm really sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I have the 4-in-1 set and I'm trying to install ToB. I already installed and played BG1 with TotSC and it worked fine. I know to not put the games into the Program Files since I have Vista and I don't seem to have the issue where the game doesn't recognize the disc like other Vista users seem to have.

Anyway, I installed SoA as a Full install and it worked fine. But when I tried to install the Full version of ToB, I got the error that says it couldn't get to "CD5\\Data\\AREA500A.bif" because of "cyclic redundancy check". Looking at the disc, the file is certainly there and there's duplicate of it on my computer already. I tried it multiple times and uninstalled and reinstalled SoA multiple times to try it. However, when I did the Minimal install, ToB installed fine since it doesn't seem to need to access that AREA500A file when I do it that way. I'd like to do the Full install and I'm also worried that there may be an error when I reach whatever area is "AREA500A" in the game since I could get the same error when the game tries to access the disc for that area. Please help.

Steve

I assume no one has a clue? Great job shutting down the tech support on the main Bioware site...

Well, I don't have a clue but searching the old forums for 'cyclic redundancy' does give quite a few results. General opinion seems to be that the problem is a damaged or dirty disk but several of the threads have solutions that might help you.
