One is Cerberus best assassin, the other the System Alliance's top scientist on AI.

I specifically used the word or. I'm all for variables, so with me having given the Collector Base to TIM I fully suspect to be amongst Cerberus ranks in ME3, meaning that Kai Leng should be given a shot as a squadmate. However, players who've decided to blow the Base up should be given the option to return to the Alliance and thus, have an Alliance-oriented squad (Virmire survivor, Kahlee Sanders etc.)

In both cases, the Reapers will know they just ****ed with the wrong universe.

Kahlee Sanders AND Anderson would make a great tag team...

Maybe, but then again.. what's holding TIM back? He did suit up in a customized exosuit to fight after all ;).

I can imagine TIM and Anderson having a fight to the death in ME3, much like Darth Sidious vs Mace Windu... "Yooouuu must choooooose!" "He's the traitor aaaaahhh" :P

I like the idea of what ending you chose in one game influencing which squadmates are available in the next.

God no. Sanders sucks at combat. She is a scientist. Lab-rat. (no she is not like Mordin - he actually has some combat skills)
The Cerberus guy could be squadmate, but I would never recruit him unless I had to.

Too bad Kai Leng kicked both their ass at the same time by himself:happy:

What if she somehow transferred her consciousness to a combat mech? Thereby also becoming a potential LI for Legion...

She would thus fulfill the same "cool factor" that Mordin's alien status did, and be able to contribute to a fight. I love Mord to death but he is OLD. It's starting to push credibility that he's trekking around space on life-or-death missions. (Without a walker ayway...)

The same could be said for Liara in ME1.

While true, Liara is also much older than any human and has stronger biotics than anyone save Samara/Jack. (Possibly she is even on par with them.) Even not actively seeking combat training, she learned to defend herself when Prothean ruins were overrun by scavengers/mercenaries, or when she was attacked by pirates.

The books and game are separate. I'd say a huge majority of the people who play ME, haven't read the books. So they'd be clueless about the character.

That's why you introduce them in trailers

Most people didn't know about Jack Jacob Miranda Grunt Thane Legion Samara Zaaed Kasumi Mordin until they played ME2 or saw trailers

Yeah, because Liara is not a super powerful biotic or anything. Kahlee Sanders is just like her.

I support this idea. Kai Leng would be an awesome squadmate (and I said this in the TIM thread too).

Anderson could be a great choice for Shepards who didn't stay with Cerberus.

I think at the very least they cold bring Kahlee in so we could see her and Anderson together. Just like a cameo or something

I agree. I'm not so sure about Kahlee's combat abilities, but she could definitely contribute to the plot in some way. She could stay on the Normandy if she's not a squadmate, or have a mission of her own. It would be interesting if the events in Retribution are important to ME3. (Like others have said, it could be explained in trailers or to Shepard in the game for anyone who didn't read the book.)

Kahlee Sanders is a boring and annoying character, if anything people who haven't read the books would prefer Kai Leng as a squadmate simply because he is after all Cerberus' best agent. There's nothing about Kahlee Sanders that's gonna impress the people who haven't read the books. Its quite obvious that Kai Leng is going to be in Mass Effect 3, I wouldn't be surprised that the remaining 3 mysterious Cerberus agents are revealed.

Hell yes I'd want Kai Leng as a squadmate. If Retribution is to be believed, he is an absolute terror on the battlefield. GIMMIE.

Kahlee...
not so much. Aside from kicking her ex-boyfriends ass, she doesn't seem
to be much of a combatant. And in spite of her connections to the
Ascension project, I'm fairly certain she has little to no biotic
ability.

I would like to see her as an NPC, however- either in cameo form or as a major supporting character. Exposition fairy, perhaps?
'Sides, without her around, Anderson would be lonely. And who wants that.  ;3;

If Kai Leng's combat skills in-game are the same as Retribution, Shepard can just watch the battle. No need to join in, although fighting beside him would be awesome. Kai Leng is a one-man army.

But Shepard is more badass than anyone will ever be. xD Kai Leng would still be one of the best squadmates though.

Agreed. ME3 better only have up to 3 new squadmates (that's my limit), everyone else better be either the suicide team or the old squadies (Liara & Virmire survivor).

New squadies...

1. Kalhee Sanders

2. David Anderson

3. Kai Leng

I'd like to see all of the former squadmates return along with some new ones too. (If Wrex isn't a squadmate, I want him to be leading a krogan army against the Reapers.) I think Kahlee would be better as a major plot character rather than squadmate though, and some squadmates should have a "choose one or the other" option. If Anderson and/or the Virmire survivor won't join a Shepard who's working with Cerberus, I would be fine with that. If Kai Leng won't join a Shepard who refuses to work with Cerberus, I would be fine with that too, even though I would miss him during those playthroughs. A few new squadmates that can be recruited depending on Shepard's alliances would be great.

Of course, this is assuming the player gets to choose which side Shepard works with.

Although I agree that the "badass assassin" archtype is pretty darn cool, there's already one in the squad. You know, that frog-fish-lizard guy. Unless you killed him, I guess.
