i downloaded a few DLC packs to get more out of DAO, but alas, after a few hours play with the DLC working perfectly fine, i decided to take a break. upon my return i started up the game again, to find that none of the DLC would activate properly. And when i finally got it to work, and let me into my save game (now about 30 minutes old) all of the items aquired during these dlc packs, had either gone, or become an uncalculable white glowing mass upon my character.

This was originally my blood dragon armor, curiously, Shale also decided to glow a bright white before disapearing completely along with my armor which in turn made my characters body completely turn invisible apart from his head. After this Shale totally vanished, and my save turned around and started to beat me with a great mace of disfunction telling me the module could not be loaded.

Now, when i log in, the DLC takes a few try's to finally negotiate its willingness to co-operate, i start a new character with all of the DLC apparently in fine working order..until i try to go to wardens keep (however it is not just this dlc that is malfunctioning the following applies to all dlc i have at this time), in which it tells me that i own the content, but it is it not installed...and to check my download manager, which, interestingly tells me it IS in fact installed, but no longer willing to allow me access to it.

if anyone can help me with any of the above problems i would be most grateful. and yes i have tried the click dlc button, wait, close, click again, close, load thing, it just doesn't work for me, would love to know were it all went wrong.

I somehow detect an act of shoddy programming, or just a sheer lack of Q and A when it comes to patching.

for all those suffering the same problems if maybe slightly less frustrating than mine, i believe we are all just going to have to await a patch fix for this patch which unfixed many things.

First, you may try to launch the Dragon Age Updater service prior to launching DA:O? For this, exit the game, open Windows main menu,
select Run..., type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
In the Services window, look for Dragon Age: Origins - Updater service.
Right-click on this service and select Start in the contextual menu.
Once the service has started, close Services window and relaunch the
game.

You may also find useful information about this service here, notably in the second part which describe an issue very similar to yours.

Second, to avoid any authorization issue with DLC after game launch, I suggest you to follow these steps before clicking New, Resume or Load game:
1. from main menu, check that you are logged in then select Downloadable Content
2. if you see your DLCs on a green background and Points Balance updating, continue to step 7
3. wait for Point Balance to be updated
4. close panel
5. click again Downloadable Content
6. this time you should see your installed DLC on a green background and the Points Balance in update mode again
7. wait for Points Balance to be updated
8. close panel and load your saved game.
You only have to proceed this way on your first savegame load after DA:O launch. Once this is done, you can directly load savegames during the same session.

have done both of these, and to no avail. authorization issue is rather peculiar, it seems to authorize the items, but upon loading, starting a new game etc, the only one to remain active is "Return to Ostagar" the others become unautharised and unusable. I do the dlc window thing, it auth's the items, then when i go into game, none of them work / are achknowledged except Ostagar. Being unauthorised, they appear in the DLC purchase window, even if i have them installed. they dont actually disapear, they just show up as unauth.

the page you linked me to is if the DLC is not there at all for purchase / download, which they are for me. i just cant get them to work even when they worked before.

Read carefully the part starting with "The next problem you will probably have..." as I suggested in my previous post. This seems to be related to your issue.

use cd [path]. If [path] contains spaces, enclose it between quotes.

I do not understand how you remove the service by simply changing its permission. Are you sure you only follow the instructions in the second part?

This is correct but I really do not understand how this can remove the service. However, as this has happened, you may try to reinstall the service following the instructions in the first part. Reboot your computer before proceeding.
