I am trying to install the Baldur's gate 4-in-1 set, and keep getting the following error before I even get into the game:

An Assertion failed in D:\\\\Dev\\\\Baldur\\\\UIControlButtons.ccp at line number 302

This happened the first time I installed BG and TotSC tonight .  I uninstalled both, reinstalled both and was able to get to the first menu.  I then exited and installed the patches, and now the message returned.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Is D: referring to a floppy drive?  My current DVD drive is J:

Ok, personally, I have no idea but an internet search suggests the problem might be something to do with the patches. I don't think the 4-in-1 set is pre-patched so you will need to install something. But, if you have TotSC installed, you should only install that patch and not the one for BG as well. Hope this helps or you've already figured it out yourself.

I have it running (for now.) I hope the patches were the problem, but that doesn't explain why the same error message came up on my first installation, before I even downloaded the patches.

No, D: is not referring to a floppy drive. It is just that when computers first got drives, they were numbered A, B, and C. And then D: became standard for the DVD-drive. I once had girlfriend who had a computer (in 1992) with an A and B drive; it needed to be started with a bootdisc from the B: drive (which has gone into the history annals, like the A: floppy drive seems to be going now...)
