Okay, reading this thread kind of makes me sad to be a gamer.
That some of you guys are so petty as to chuck a sad about a game going to a console you don't own?

I owned both a 360 and a PS3 (until my xbox died before I got a chance to play ME2).
I played ME2 without my ME1 save and didn't care the slightest, I enjoyed the game as a new character, and read about the first stories plot on wiki as I had forgot it after playing.
Anyone that cares enough to buy this game on PS3 for the plot will look at the wiki.
Anyone that buys this game to play for enjoyment will not care so much for the plot (enough is explained anyway).

This whole brand loyalty is stupid.
Just be excited that a VIDEO GAME you LOVE will be played and loved by a whole new group of people.

Tell me, what if will turn out that PS3 sale will overshoot XBox and PC sales of ME 2 so EA will decide to made ME 3 PS 3 EXCLUSIVE?

We are still about a year from revealing ME 3 content and since conversion ME 2 to PS 3 system is underway who give us a freaking guarantee that ME 3 will not be PS 3 Exclusive like ME 1 was XBox eclusive in the beginning?

Bioware already proved that they will dance as EA will play no matter how deep they will disregard opinion his own fan base and that's rather sad turn of event.

What a bunch of selfish children on this forum. Microsoft still owns part of ME1. Who the **** cares if more people get to play this amazing game. Shut up with their loyalty to xbox its a console!!! People need to get over it more people will play this game that you feel your so entitled to. Please just be happy more people can play the ME games

Yeah when ME3 comes out and is so far removed from Mass Effect and my choices and character from that game matters squat and BioWare ****ed up one of the most potentionally awesome game projects the world has ever seen by making each game standalone for newcomers I'll be bloody delighted that more people can play ME2.

Eh, I'll buy it seeing as my family got a PS3 a while back for a blu-ray player, but honestly I'm not exactly gonna rush over to my local bestbuy/target/walmart/gamestop/etc to get it.

It's not necessarily about a 'Console War' (I could care less about the XBox vs. PS crap).  The concern is that if one console isn't even going to have Mass Effect 1, the choices made in that game might become almost null and void in Mass Effect 3 across the board....for PC, for XBox, for ME3 in general.

I'm assuming they will create Mass Effect 3 similarly for all the three consoles now (PS3/XBox360/PC) therefore, the things you did way back in ME1 just won't matter hardly at all, as they aren't important for PS3 users.

This is it exactly. They won't go out of their way to make an XBOX only version of ME3 that carries over choices from ME1. This might be good news for Sony owners, but for PC and Xbox owners it's a drag. I have no desire to even play ME1 anymore. Nothing you do in it will matter to the 3rd game now.

That is a worthy worry I currently have.

Another thing-

Bioware, this better NOT be the "something far reaching from Mass Effect in Q1 2011" thing you were talking about, or there will be a lot of pissed off fans.

That hours of bonus content better just be like a way to understand ME1 in 3 hours or so, or existing DLC. I mean seriously, I bought all the DLC for ME1 (I know, all two of em'), and all the DLC for ME2 so far, and I won't get crap for being a loyal customer.

Ok, I don't think this will change much about ME3 on the 360 if anything at all. Why would they do that? Doesn't make a ton of sense to me. I'm glad it can reach a bigger audience now.

I'm really only quoting things for truth at this point since we're all speaking in circles until some dev gets their butt in here to say something.

LotSB will be first story based DLC...

Why do these threads always have to be laced with flat-out untrue bullpoop like this? If some of you retards are wondering why nobody takes you seriously, this is why.

Anyway, just to add to my last post, speaking as a fan of the PS3 here, I'm not buying the PS3 version, and if it has exclusive content, it won't change my mind, it'll just make me angry. But I don't expect it to be anything but the DLC that's already out.

Just to point out some things on the ME1 situation.

1. Microsoft published ME1. EA published ME2. Getting ME1 on the PS3 will be a bit of a challenge. Usually we don't have games published by the console makers be ported. A rare case was Halo Custom Edition on PC published by Gearbox the guys who made Borderlands. It could be included on the disc (those blu-rays hold a ton of memory) or maybe released on PSN in episodic format.

2. Bonus content is probably the free Cerberus network content we already had plus Kasumi and Overlord. I could be wrong but it's more likely then the PS3 getting all new stuff the 360 didn't.

3. If ME1 can't be ported on the PS3 they could use the KOTOR2 system of questions. The choice of Udina and Anderson didn't port over so they just had you answer that question. Jacob and Miranda's questions when leaving the station could be expanded upon for major decisions. Minor decisions for what you did I'm not so sure about.

Not seeing why people assume this is going to push back ME3. The last official word I've gotten one ME3 release was when the movie was announced, and that was for a simultaneous release. Obviously, it's not the ME3 team working on this port, it might not even be in-house at Bio for all we know (DAO wasn't).

I'm a PC gamer, so I could really care less about console exclusitivity, but if the PS3 version of ME2 gets any exclusive content, or any of the extra content that we had to pay for for free, I'll be livid.

Of course it will, just like the inevitable GOTY will get a lot of the same content included in the price - because it'll come out a year later! Let's be realistic, here!

People stop saying that bioware is trying to make money. Mass Effect 2 was largely successful and people were begging to have Mass Effect 1 and 2 to be for the PS3 and Bioware was finally able to do it. Don't you guys remember all of those fourms that wanted it. Bioware was finally able to deliever to more fans. So quit whinning if you already have the game. I myself have it for the 360 and love it. The one downside i see is that PS3 owners would have a cannon story

I'd just like to quote Jarrett Lee (Bioware) from the discussion over in the general subforum:

This doesnt impact the schedule for ME3.

So there's one fear laid to rest!

For the butthurt nerdragers railing against how 'unfair' this announcement is, please grow the eff up.

Porting this game to the PS3 takes nothing away from your game. If you bought the DLC, you chose to do so, and who knows if that's what the "hours of bonus content" on the disk is actually referring to. Regardless, you're out, what, $20 tops? Boo. Freakin'. Hoo. You still got to play the content WAY sooner than any PS3 owner will. It's just like going to the theater to watch a movie as opposed to waiting for it to show up on basic cable.

It's not like BioWare just said "hey guys, we're moving everything to the PS3, so you XBox and PC owners are SOL for future ME content, sucks to be you!" Really, let's keep things in perspective. Widening the consumer base is a good thing for the franchise and for the financial health of the company. Win-win, from where I'm standing.

While I am glad that ME2 is going over to PS3, I am disappointed that there has *so far* been no announcement of ME1 going over as well. If this is the case and it definitely wont be going over to PS3 then I'll be sticking with the Xbox version.

Bioware highlight the Import feature being one of the main additions to the ME series however without the first one PS3 owners are getting screwed out of the first chapter and ultimately not experiencing the full Mass Effect 2 experience with the import feature. Sorry Bioware but you wont be getting my money for an INCOMPLETE Mass Effect series on PS3

I really hope you make a saved game converter for importing from mass effect 1 and 2 into the ps3 version from pc, or i won't be buying it.  If you do, I'm very excited and will buy it and love it.

DLC we've purchased for pc will be available on ps3 too at no extra cost right?

Maybe not, but that doesn't mean we are going to have the choices from 1 carry over now. It would be a simple fix for them to just remove all that.
