Unless you bought your 360 in 05/06, it is covered under MS's warante of 3 years.

Such a pity that I didn't actually buy it myself and probably got a used console, meaning I'd have to actually pay for a repair. Incidentally, the cost of repair is exactly equal to the cost of a fudging used console, except that I don't have the option of paying with store credit and have to wait a couple weeks to play my gods-darned games again.

You could have also sent it to them outside that 3 years. You didn't "have" to trade anything in, you chose to do so. All consoles have had issues, even the PS3. Ah you are one of those "people" that **** about multi disc games. I guess you are just to damn lazy eh?

I don't like having all of my sidequests squeezed into the last section of the game because that last section of the game was the only section on the third disc. Otherwise, I'm cool. That said, not having to swap discs every time I visit the Krogan homeworld is always a plus, and having the DLC on the disc for free is another plus. Please don't skate around Microsoft's blatant disregard for quality assurance with a potshot at my mention of disc format, it just makes you look like a bad sport.

Also, did I mention I'm still bitter about Windows Vista?

There is no bottom line.

Go sit in a dark corner somewhere and think about the state of your sense of humor, please. In the words of a certain friendly neighborhood AI, "That was a joke."

Whats the point of all this ... i mean we dont know what the dlc or extra content will be... so lets all just wait til then and see what happens . I myself have a pc 360 and Ps3 and i have me 1 and 2 on the 360 and will decide if i wish to get the ps3 version when i hear more about it. There are far more important things happening though in the world these days that makes all these thread comments seem very superficial and all. Wait and see I say. Looks like i picked the wrong week to count on maturity and good sense here.

Why would you do that? Its on the second disc...
The DLC being free on PS3 has nothing to do with disc capacity.

Not exactly good one.

Why aren't they releasing Mass Effect 1 too ? After all that time, they could scrap the exclusivity deal with M$. After all, Microsoft got Final fantasy XIII...

Are you guys that keep saying this stuff stupid, dense, or just complete morons? I mean really? Is it so freaking hard to grasp that MS paid for ME1. They OWN the rights to it. DO you get it? Is it clear? I mean good god... Also those of you that use M$ are just douche bags. you might as well spell sony as $ony. ALL companies are out to make a profit.

Mass 2 on the PS3 won't take up 2 discs. Even with DLC loaded on it. Blu Ray has sufficient amount of space to handle it. FFXIII on PS3 had one disc, while the 360 version had 3. I'm more than certain that Mass 2 will take only 1. So no swapping discs.

It's actually quite rare that you can miss 70 pages and absolutely nothing will have changed. I mean it's exactly the same things being posted over and over again, I 'm not sure if it's actually the same people or we're experiencing an exceptional case of groupthink.

Honestly guys, after Christina Norman's twitter about this having 0 impact on ME3 development (very believable, since it's obvious that this has been planned for a long time but EA/Bio have been contractually prevented from announcing it before - everything would have been accounted for long ago) and the interview with Dr. Ray which essentially confirms that PS3 players will have some, as of yet unspecified, way for affecting the outcome of the ME1 story for their game, it just seems that people either aren't informed at all, or are just trying to objectify their subjective dislike for PS3 gamers getting access to Mass Effect.

The way I see it, all of the non-critical ME1 decisions were gone through in ME2 (Conrad, some other cameos, the e-mails). The critical stuff, Rachni, Wrex, Council etc. are going to have an impact on ME3. How big is it going to be, we do not know, but it's certain that the PS3 port will not affect this.

And the 'PS3 gamers will get it free, boo hoo' people. Are you complaining about the lower price the game is available for right now? Do you not suspect that when january 2011 hits, you wouldn probably be able to get it for less on the PC and X360 sides? If getting the game a year early has no value to you, why was the Shadow Broker lair thread so full of rabid people screaming for a release it had to be locked?

I normally try to stay out of these kinds of threads, but the utter FAIL of people who call themselves fans of the game is just grating. I for one am REALLY glad some of my best friends will finally be able to get some Mass Effect!

Quoted because people seemed to miss this great post.  Logic and reason FTW.

There were three disc swaps (two if you did not continue after the suicide mission).
Seeing BioWare is speaking abour Cerberus Network, they are probably going to use the same "free with new copy" on the PS3. I believe they said they are going to do it with all their future games.

So did I. I don't feel bad at all, I've gotten ME1 and a year of amazing ME2 gameplay out of it. Even with all the info I have now, I'm pretty sure I would have done the same thing. (Yeah, ME1 and ME2 are pretty much my favourite games, and absolutely favourites on the current gen...)

I'm getting a real kick out of the people who're saying **** like, "Itz teh xbox fanbase woo maed ME graet teh ps3 haz dun NUTHIN 4 U!11"

Um, well...they bought Dragon Age Origins, and I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, maybe if Mass Effect had've been made available to PS3 users earlier, then they could've bought it.

Seriously, saying that PS3 users have done nothing for the Mass Effect series is like saying that humanity has done nothing for the rest of the universe.

Also, Bioware... Now that Kasumi & Zaheed (sp?) are included on the disc itself, how about making them LIs?

I'm having a hard time with that argument as well.  If ME1 had been released for PS3 I'm sure a ton of people would have bought it.

And seeing as DAO is on PS3 they can't even say PS3 users have done nothing for Bioware.  Plenty of them like myself have bought Dragon Age for the PS3.

I wonder what this means for the ME1 squadmates. Does this mean Liara and Ashley/Kaidan will

get small or no parts in ME3 since PS3 owners will not ever have them?

Saying PS3 users haven't done anything for Mass Effect is like saying my grass hasn't done anything for my sprinkler this week. By my understanding the game exists for the gamer. The grass doesn't water the smucking hose.

You didn't hear.  I heard from a source that I won't share that Liara and Ashley have a topless lesbian love scene in the PS3 exclusive exclusively Mass Effect 2 for PS3.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

Here's the truth, you're all being paranoid.

It's already been stated on Twitter that Bioware is adding additional content into the PS3 Version to acquaint the player with the events and story of ME1, and even if it wasn't, it's obvious.

REALITY CHECK, Bioware made the Mass Effect series to be a 3 part on-going series that connects directly and reflect the player's choices, and they wouldn't screw that up just because of one port on a console that didn't get the original game in the series.
Worst case scenario, the PS3 Version of ME3 gets toned down so that ME1's choices play a smaller role.

Here, allow me to predict the future for you all...

Ever wonder why Bioware announced a port of ME2 for PS3, but no PS3 Version of the upcoming ME3? Here's why, history is going to repeat itself. Microsoft has likely already paid EA for ME3 to be an exclusive for a year, so the PS3 Version won't come out til a year later.
So even if Bioware doesn't include some form of a save generator, a retrospective, ME Genesis, etc. Then the only version of ME3 that will be affected is the PS3 Version that won't come out until a year after the PC/360 Version, understand?

So we can pay for DLC while they get it for free AGAIN? Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the PS3 version getting all the current X360/PC DLC for free nor do I mind it going to the PS3. That was bound to happen anyway, and it's a given that they need something else to justify the price tag ( I think they should pay for the Liara DLC anyway though.. But we'll see). However, I do have a problem if X360 and PC users end up paying almost 100 bucks for the same stuff that the PS3 version gets for 60 AGAIN (that is the key word here). If it happens once, fine, because they need a way to increase sales on the new platform. But if they do this twice, it's simply abusing the pockets of the X360 and PC users, while they are the loyal fans.

If they release ME3 later on the PS3, I'll probably end up being pissed. Not because of waiting or whatever. I don't have a PS3 nor will I buy one. The reason is that I don't want to pay 100 for something that I could get for 60 a year later. Playing it first than another platform doesn't matter to me. Collector's editions do matter however, and if I want to buy the CE I'm basically forced to buy it close to launch at full price, and if they do the same thing again, which is letting PC and X360 users pay for DLC while the PS3 gets it completely free, I'm simply going to be pissed. It's better that they release ME3 both at the same time.

Or that the ME2 on PS3 sales fail and ME3 is never released on it.. But that probably won't happen, and I don't wish that that will happen either. However, I don't wish to be robbed of my money either. Or, ME3 will have no DLC.. (yeah right.. who am I kidding..).

Weird move.

I really want to know how they'll resolve problem with save transfer.
Playing ME2 when (some)people never had the chance to finish ME1 it's like watching Matrix Reoladed without knowledge from first movie.

I doubt MS has an exclusive deal. To be fair, ME3 isn't even announced for pc/360 yet either. Or have I missed something?

Reality check.

In the business world there exists things called Confidentiality agreements.  One breaks these agreements with the understanding that it means a massive law-suit coupled with cavity searches and torture.

It seems VERY likely that Bioware knew all along this game would be coming to PS3 but due to a confidentiality agreement with Microsoft they had to keep the company line of "It isn't coming to PS3" for a defined amount of time or else they'd get their asses sued into oblivion.

This cry-baby logic of "They lied to me waaa!  They can never be trusted again!!" is f-in ridiculous.

Anybody remember back before the game came out when Gamestop accidentally listed a PS3 version of ME2?

Or this arcticle from 2008?   http://ps3.ign.com/a...9/859626p1.html
