Er, no the 360 is a pretty decent console, though it has has an unacceptably high failure rate in the past.
However, you might have tried Mass Effect (1) on the 360 and I agree there, it's much better on pc. The 360 version is far from optimized and suffers from texture pop-ins and lag. ME2 on the other hand has solved these problems and also has a fantastic button mapping compared to the first game (something I assume the PS3 players will get to experience as well, although they won't have anything to compare it to of course). I tried the ME2 demo on pc and while the graphics are noticeably better for the most part, you also notice when they're not. You don't have that problem on the 360, since they're "bad" all the time.

Right....Xbox is the crap console....Uh-huh...Ok....Let me draw your attention to the class action lawsuit currently in progress against Square/Enix and Sony due to their PS3 copies of Final Fantasy XIII actually BREAKING consoles. Where Sony actually commented on how they know that there are certain "technical issues" with the PS3 causing this problem. The funny part about this lawsuit though is that Sony is pointing the finger at Square and Square is pointing the finger at Sony (Deja Vu anyone ala BP? lol).
Edit: I should also add that I own both cosoles and love my PS3 but at the same time, Sony has been wracked with "issues" of late. And also add that my Xbox runs 10 times cooler (temp wise) than my PS3 even on scortching hot days. So where as the PS3 MAY be better in some regards "graphically"....It's inferior in terms of it's "life span" and "Baggage" associated with the console.

EDIT: No, but seriously, are we talking slim models or something? My PS3 doesn't run any hotter than my 360 did, and guess which one's still kicking... granted, both were FAT models.

The older PS3 units have more than double the power consumption of newer 360 units (or newer PS3 units, then again the 360 has had lower power consumption form the beginning) add this to the fact the in the case of PS3 the PSU is inside the console and the machine is likely to produce much more heat.Solaris Paradox wrote...

Now, we are talking about temperature which makes it even more tricky. Remember, even your low-power Atom netbook may have much higher surface temperature than your i7 gaming desktop.

ME1 will most likely remain a 360 & PC exclusive, which means that the PS3 gamers wont be able to make any choices from ME1. That, however, will probably NOT force BW to remove any consequences of ME1 choices in ME3.
My bet is that the choices we've made in ME1 will still carry over to ME3, I cant see any reason for BW to remove that.
Even if there wouldnt be a ME2 for PS3 there would still have to be a generic version of ME3 for all Xbox gamers who never played ME1 (just like they already did with ME2), plus Im pretty sure BW will want to reward loyal gamers who played the trilogy from the start.

My 360 is three years old and has never "melted its own entrails".
I'm in the same boat, and apparently we're lucky.
Me too, but only two years. Yet, I'm on my 4th PS3 in 3 years. In the gaming community that I belong to, which is mainly PS3 based, there are maybe 2 or 3 out of 40 who haven't lost at least one PS3. While I love each system, both consoles have a history of hardware issues.

Sorry to call you a liar but your a dang liar lmao. I'm an electrician and I have just about every gaming console since the 80's. Ive personally used my watt reader "http://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4400-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU" on every system I own. I have two ps3's one an original 80 from launch which works great and a new slim. I also have about 4 dead xbox 360's and one working elite. 2 which were from launch each lasting about a year, 1 non launch that I bought 2 years later which again died a few months later 1 dead elite I got from elites launch and 1 working elite that stil works mainly because I never use it. I tested all the systems and my fat ps3 from launch runs at a range from 185 watts to 195 watts. As for my two launch xbox 360s they run much higher than my ps3's. My pre-red ring reading showed them conusming between 210 and 215 watts. What surprised me tho is after red ring and fix for red ring the watt consumption jumped to between 223 and 226 watts. I will give them credit tho on the 360 I purchased 2 years later was dramaticly smaller, it averaged at about the same as the launch ps3 but stayed in a rang from 185-193 just slightly less than the launch fat ps3. As for the elites they never did less than 190 watts. The new ps3 slim tho has got to be the best so far(wii excluded), it has a range from 149 to 163 watts. Comparing all 3 top systems tho Wii was definitly best of the bunch which never did more than 20 watts.

Which 360 runs "ten times cooler" than which PS3?
Mine does for starters....Dont know where you get your crap but mine has always ran cooler than my PS3. Again, I love my PS3 but it just runs so much hotter than my 360. I also have an accessory that helps even more with that on the particularly "hot" days. On the 85-90+ degree days I plug my Intercooler device to my 360 and it generates almost no heat at all allowing me to play longer. On normal days, I dont use the intercooler and even then it runs tons cooler than my PS3.
I should also note, that my consoles are considered to be under the category of "heavy usage". Meaning that when I sit down to play, I dont play 2, 3, 4 hours and then Im done for the day....No no no lol....When I sit down to play (seeing as how Im a stay at home hubby) I play for a MINIMUM of 9-10 hours....But on average, it's usally closer to 12-15 hours a day so by default, my consoles are going to run hotter than the "average joe" anyway.
Also of note, I had assumed that when I said "ten times cooler" that people such as yourself would have been able to figure out that it was an obviously gross exageration. Apparently I was wrong. Although not "literally" ten times cooler, it DOES run a hell of a lot cooler than my PS3. ALSO of note, I dont own the "Slim" PS3 unit either meaning that the older "Fatter" models run hotter than their slimmer counterparts. Whoever it was above me that basically said this little known fact if bs, (the supposed electrician I believe) then you obviously dont know your trade very well. The "fat" models for whatever reason run tons hotter than their slimmer counterparts. Now, if I actually owned the "slim" model, I would be retracting my arguement because the slim models seem to run about the same temperature as my Xbox. (Intercooler NOT connected)
As another FYI, (I cant say for anyone else who's had the pleasure of running the "new" 360) the "New" model 360's not only run much quieter than the older models, but they also run cooler (about as cool as my 360 now when I have the intercooler connected). Again, let me clarify that I am NOT hating on PS3s....I LOVE my PS3. But if it came down to it and I had to absolutely choose between one or the other, I would, without a second thought, choose my 360 hands down on the reason alone that it runs cooler than my current PS3. (And also to clarify, Ive only had my PS3 for about 2 months or so now and yes, it was brought brand new
1.) For playing PS3 Exclusive titles such as Uncharted 1&2.
2.) In March of '11 the wife and I are picking up Final Fantasy XIV (We'd get it for PC but the cost for us to upgrade our PC to the specs needed to run FFXIV "respectably" far exceeded the cost of us simply getting a PS3 and just playing it that way.)
Edit: Ive had my 360 for a little over 3 years now if that info is even relevant at all lol.

You're very lucky then lol....There are literally thousands of people with the PS3 version where this has happened. Given, out of the millions of copies that have sold, the "statistics" are still low but high enough for there to be a class action lawsuit lol.....

I'm another one of those twelve-to-fifteen-hour gamers. My PS3 is still running strong. Maybe it's just built well enough to take its own heat, I dunno.
Also of note, I had assumed that when I said "ten times cooler" that people such as yourself would have been able to figure out that it was an obviously gross exageration. Apparently I was wrong.
Don't patronize me, I know you were exaggerating. I just never noticed a difference in how hot the consoles ran, and considering which of the two consoles died first, your mention of lifespan left me rather nonplussed. The Red Ring of Death itself is supposed to be something caused by heat, isn't it?
Then again, maybe the PS3 does run a bit hotter, and just happens to be built well enough that it can stand its own heat.

And I would so have bought one if I had the money to do so, but alas, a used fat model was the extent of my budget (and that's probably what Microsoft would have sent me had I sent mine in for repair...).

@Solaris - I also take OBSESSIVELY good care of both my consoles lol. Meaning I lightly clean and dust them every week and swab every possible oriface (spelling?) for dust ad nauseum. Seriously, if you looked at either of my consoles (my 360 in particular) you'd swear I just took it out of the box lol.

Dorks.
A.) just in case your comments were directed in anyway in my direction let me clarify that I AM married and as such "intercourse" is not an issue lol.
B.) Most of us (I think maybe?) arent so mad at the fact that our decison wont have "mattered" so much the fact that some of us (myself included) are a little peeved at the possibility of people playing ME2 for the first time (new to the series) on PS3 are going to get a "special" option at the beginning of the game that allows them to manually choose the outcome the "major" decisions made in ME1. Why? because why should they get a "free pass" when the rest of us that played the PC and 360 version had to actually go through the "work" of the first game in order for our decisions to feel like they meant something.
It's not so much the fact that we feel that they arent going to matter in ME3...It's MORE the possibility that we fear that they arent going to matter on a "lower" scale in the terms of, as I just stated, PS3 players getting a "free pass" to choose how they want from the beginning. Im not saying that this IS going to happen of course, it's just a concern.
