Does this also mean that a version of ME1, perhaps with some upgrades after the better system will be ported into the PS3?

I am asking because it seems like an obvious thing to do. You cannot port only a sequal into a system and not add the original too.

how many times has this been answered on this thread?

Microsoft isnt giving it up thats why bioware is making a intro sequence that will fill ps3 players in

Sorry man, I just did not want to read through 120 pages and wanted to ask up front. Leads to the question who owns the game, the system it is on or the developers themselves. Can Microsoft not do the same thing about Me2 though? Why is it such a problem for PS3 owners to get the first game and not the second?

@obie

Yeah, I want kill zone 3, resistance 3, and whatever Ratchet and Clank games that come out, but besides that, #1 on my want list is Halo Reach.

Personally, I don't play my ps3 because there are no good FPS's besides Resistance. (Any multlatform games I already have on my xbox)

It seems like the genre of games that Microsoft and Sony produce are extremely different. I've been subtly noticing that PS3 has a lack of RPGs in the same respect that the 360 does. It seems like they'd rather go the Action-adventure route.

I agree on the RPG's.  Though Valkyria and Demon's Souls went a long way in helping ease the shortfall.  Honestly, if you are a FPSer, then the 360 is the system for you.  If you like a bunch of different genre's, then I think the PS3 fits better.  I honestly find myself buying more games for the PS3, but I probably play just as much on the 360 because of online FPS MP.

There are like tons of other little decisions during the course of the first game that I doubt they'll add in the flash back. There is going to be absolutely no substitute for playing the actual first Mass Effect. It's going to be a heavy blow for PS3 users.

Tetris and Obie, sorry can you guys please PM each other about your discussion, This thread should not get derailed.

So, with the addition of the PS3 version of ME2, that means more revenue (hopefully) for the Bioware Team. This will be a great addition that will further increase the fanbase, everbody wins.

HA!  I was going to say 110.  It's been derailed again and again, yet it keeps bouncing back.

But, why is it such a problem if other system owners want get the game. Yes Boo Hoo, Microsoft loses exclusive rights for the original...I thought PC also changed that.

I doubt that many customers will buy a system for 1 game, if they do those people are idiots. Microsoft has a ton of Exclusive games (halo for those people who live under rocks, for one. also Gears of War). The people who buy the game will buy it for whatever system they have. It is unrealistic to think that a person would buy an entire system because that system carries 1 game.

Me1 is very old in game standards now, I doubt that many Me1 games are getting sold right now, even a few months after the second game came out.

you really aren't going to question ps3's price again and try to hide your lack of info with a link are you?

because only in your world ps3 is overpriced.

otherwise we now that first ps3 versions brought no profit for sony, for the simple fact that they were sold cheaper than what they had cost sony.

and you say ps3 is a mess, and many designers said ps3 is horrible to design on, but guess what?

now they admit they were wrong.

GamerZines bring you some new information about Homefront, including PS3 chosen as lead platform on console development for “quality reasons”

Scott Steinberg even goes further, and says making the PS3  lead platform will make the Xbox 360 games look “even better.”

Platinum Games confirming that the PS3 is the development lead this time around. "We're leading development on PS3," says director Shinji Mikami. "Obviously each console has its own unique requirements and limitations, but we feel if we can create a good enough presentation on PS3, we'll be off to a good start."

I guess I'm an idiot then because I bought a 360 a couple of years back specifically to play Mass Effect.  And I know others who have done the same.  Granted, money isn't an issue with me and obviously my game library for the 360 has expanded considerably since then.  But, the system was originally purchased for 1 game.

Exhibit 1 Above. This is exactly the type of crap that's going to be part of this forum now.

Yes. It will be a completely new experience as there are no XBots saying the same things.

Never mind that half this thread is nothing more than pouty children crying over the fact that someone else will get to play with THEIR game so they're not so special anymore.

how can xbots say the same thing dude?? or do you mean that the forums are dull because only PC and Xbox players were on here?

and your complaining about the thread but you still posting here?

Uhhhh....you don't have to go far to find the "Sony sucks. PS3 sucks" crowd.

So, yes. It's the same fanboy stupid from the other side..

Lets prove how uniformed  you are.

1. Price and if it's to high or low depends on the person and how much money they have.
2. The PS3 system itself still brings no profit to sony.
3. No developers said the PS3 was a horrible to make games for. They just said it was harder. They still think this, but sony has made it easier for them to make games on the PS3 with better dev kits.
4. Quality reasons from a game maker or magazine are all based on opinion.
5. People can say what they want. That guy you quote speaks of his PERSONAL OPINION. Not fact.
6. Platinum games needs to stop worrying about which system is better or worse, and concentrate on not making so much crap.

they are probably afraid that their xbox wont sell anymore because after Reach and gears 3 bungie and epic are going multiplatform also alot of their exclusive XBLA games a being ported over to the ps3 with extra content giving people a reason to ditch their xbox and just go with a ps3 idk sony is strong arming them and microsoft cant really fight back

I bought my first 360 knowing ME was coming. Many people buy systems for that ONE special game. People that say things like "It's unrealistic" just don't know much.

My friend just had a interesting point of view that I didn't consider.

I told him ME2 was coming to PS3 (he's not the type of guy you find on a forum) and he said...

"Why would I want an out of date port of a game from another system? I could just play it now."

Really hadn't looked at it like that.

I love how sony fanboys just want to so desperately believe that the 360 is going away. It's not going anywhere. People love the system, and the system still sells. You're nonsense is JUST as stupid as the Xbox fanboys whining about how they were shafted some how with ME2 going to PS3. You're all a bunch of morons.

Kane, it's more expensive to buy a ps3 when you already have an xbox, as it's more expensive to buy a xbox when you already have a ps3.

You can always tell who the clueless are. They start with "yeah the 360 is the system for you if you only want FPS games". Get some new material. Saying it doesn't make it true.

I figure I'd throw my 2 cents on the whole deal.

I really don't see the problem with porting ME2 to the PS3. This gives Bioware more money and gives a whole new audience the opportunity to experience this new game. In fact, the only group of people that are kinda being shafted are PS3 owners, because come on... Mass Effect 1 and 2 fit together like a puzzle, and they'll only be getting half of it. Sure, they'll get an intro to help fill them in, but they're still missing an entire game.

Now there's the whole issue with ME3 being dumbed down for PS3 owners. I really don't think this is going to be the case at all, and is a bit of an irrational fear. Bioware won't do that to it's main and central audience (360 and PC owners).

I'm not sure how I feel about the DLC's. If they just get what's already out, I don't see what the big deal is. They're just getting a GOTY addition of it. However if they get tons of new content exclusive to the PS3... that's not fair for the 360 and PC owners/

I use to own an Xbox 360, but it RRoD on me and I replaced it with a PS3. When I owned that 360 however, ME1 was my favorite game on it. So, I'm really excited that I'll get the chance to play ME2 on my PS3 (My PC isn't powerful enough to run ME2).
