For the most part it was implied that most of the important decisions you made from 1 would see their effect in ME3, which led to the need to keep important characters alive for the finale (so Ash/Liara/Wrex (if you saved him)/etc. couldn't be playable in ME2). With the seemingly nulled importance of ME1, Bioware's initial promise falls under certain scrutiny.

Yes, i find it very unlikley that these descions that had little impact in ME2 will have some game changing effect in ME3

What's the point of playing ME1 and 2 if you can't import saves.Yeah the great story, gameplay and graphics are not worth playing ME for.

I hope for you that this post is sarcasm. If you actually played ME1 you know that the ME1 story is in many points superior to the ME2 story. Missing ME1 = missing a great deal of the Mass Effect experience!

Well, to be fair, that's pretty much what that choice amounted to. Kaiden and Ashley where both pretty bland characters.

Not if Kaiden was your LI.

And who knows maybe the ps3 bonus content will include a short flashback level thing where they make these descions

"Oh I have to choose who dies, that girl soldier or that male tech dude? Ehmmm dunno, I think the girl looks hot so I'll let the tech dude die, whoever that may be. I believe his name was Kaiden? Ah well..."

I disagree. I think Ashley was less bland than "oh I want to do you so bad Shepard and I'm really easy to get even though I try to play hard to get!" -Liara.

For some reason my canon-Shep did romance Liara instead of Ashley though. Must be that mighty fine blue ass I guess...:pinched:

Yeah i let Ashley get nuked and what did Kaiden do for me in ME2 he basically told me I was an ****.The council didn't much of a difference in ME2 since Shephard is with Cerberus.Wrex is the only decision which made a difference. In my previous post I was being sarcastic.Plus the ME2 is squad is perfect. They got rid of the dull characters(except wrex)

It's not too late for BioWare to redeem themselves in terms of meaningful choices by bringing back Wrex, Liara, and Kaiden/Ashley as squadmates in ME3.

Which is exactly why its fishy that Bioware (well, Christina Norman anyways) claimed that ME1's decisions would still carry over to ME3; yet they decided it was only necessary to port ME2 to the PS3.

Well, yes.
That's part of the problem. It wasn't really a hard choice even if you didn't pick either of them as your LI, cuz they are just bland characters. I mean, they're not bad characters, it's just kind of hard to care about them.

Hope the PS3 version has a great introduction(30 min) and if choices can't be made then Wrex should be alive by default.I will say it again my previous post was sarcastic(the one about gameplay and ME1).Plus you have to admit that the combat in ME1 was a let down(damn inaccurate overheating weapons) the rest of the game was great.

I think it's not a matter of not being necessary but more a matter of not having the right to port ME1 to the PS3. As far as I know, ME1 is still property of Microsoft, not EA. So EA can't release ME1 on the PS3, Microsoft wouldn't allow it.

My bet is that the "extra introduction" o the PS3 version will be nothing more or less than just this short video:

www.youtube.com/watch

I bet that EA/BioWare will be that cheap. No offense towards BioWare. I just don't expect anything amazing from the PS3 "extra introduction".

Isn't that the 360 versions demo.Trust me it is EA they will make sure that they do not upset their(EA) PS3 fanbase.I mean they gave Dante Inferno with loads of extra content the same for MOH and Dead Space. You should start looking at Bioware as a division of EA because that what it is now.We all know who EA are trying to please these days.

Sad but all too true...

I just hope they won't neglet us Xbox360 and PC gamers. I really don't want to buy a second copy of ME2 for the PS3 just for some extra exclusive content. I really hope whatever extra content the PS3 version gets, we'll get too (except for the prologue/intro thingy, I couldn't care less about that).

I'm aware of Microsoft's ownership of ME1's publishing rights. What I was trying to say was: if Bioware was so concerned of the impact of ME1 choices going into ME3, they would have likely felt only being able to port ME2 to be an unacceptable substitution and not bothered.

According to the gibbet save editor there was something like a bigillion (exaggeration, but there was alot) plot points that were recorded. I don’t see how an introductory sequence could quite possibly cover all of it unless it was literally a long and tacky questionnaire.

Anyho, there’s seems more than likely (given the recent results of Bioware “streamlining” their products for broader audiences) that many ME1 decisions must be cut in order to equalize the ME3 for all platforms.

ME1 is quite obviously of huge importance to the series and is by far the better game, so there’s little question PS3 users are missing out.

Carry on.

Better story, yes.  Better game, arguable.

If I didn't know better I (from peoples comments) would say tha Mass Effect is a game which involves carrying over choices from one game to the other over and over again until it was finished. Then you would carry over those choices to another game and so on so......

I dont see why people say Ash is bland, she was interesting especially with her xenophobia and wanting to redeem her family, it st up a nice conflict and you can make her less xenophobic, unlike kaiden who is just bland "Oh I have head aches blah blah"  and Liara who just seems like most of the time shes light headed and wants to get shep into bed. its not really a good choice though because the ps3 players likely wont know thier personalities, so will probabally just sacrafice someone by tossing a coin. Poor people could end up with Kaiden back in ME3, kill it with nuclear fire

I didnt find her racist,  a bit xenophobic, but iirc you can change that. And in ME2 she is appauled by you working with cerberus, and hates terra nova. I dont think shes racist at all.

yes ME1 most likely won't be on ps3 but there's always the possibility of the ninja gaiden sigma loophole to happen to mass effect 1 (maybe using the engine and some features of ME2 with the plot of ME1?)
but at this we can't know for sure
