Riiiight, and if PS3 owners aren’t moved to buy in big numbers where will this "significant profit" come from?

Profit is the difference between how much you spent and how much you get back. They aren't spending much on ME2's port--certainly not as much as when they originally developed the game. Since they've already made back their development costs and more purely on sales for the other two platforms, it won't take nearly as many sales for them to start making pure profit on the PS3 version. That's why the PS3 version can be the weakest version in terms of sales and still turn a profit for BioWare. They likely aren't even counting on a whole lot of sales at any one time--only a steady stream of them over time.

I'm sorry to jump on your conversation but I think the game was already developed at the same time as the 360 version and the whole: "You don't need to have played the first ME in order to play the second" was already because of the PS3 version. It was what I felt once playing ME2, that the game at some point would make it to the PS3. I believe the only thing that kept it from releasing it before was some kind of MS contract. I just wanted to point it out since: If the game is already made long ago, and just waiting for a release day...

Remember when someone found some PS3 code in the ME2 files or something a few months ago?

Now... On another note, I can't wait to get the PS3 version too but since there isn't much info on it, the only thing I'm worried about is the disc swaping thing which for me and my kind of style of play was a bit annoying, do anyone here knows if that would happen with the PS3 version as well?

Style of play? You mean you are just lazy.

I'm curious, would you be suitably moved to buy at launch in the event no exclusive content is announced? If so, why?

They've already said it's getting extra content.  Whether that remains exclusive or not shouldn't matter.

It does if you own the game on another platform (kind of why I asked the question).

Other than some sort of introduction sequence that will be new, I highly doubt that they would do anything exclusive.  If I was a betting man, I would think that it going to be something along the lines of slide show or animated intro voiced by the guy who does the Codex entries which explains the background and allows you to make some basic relevant choices.  I'll buy it on the PS3 regardless just to see if there are any differences between the two..

"In terms of just a charge for basic online play, that's something that
we have to talk about a lot more and we struggle with a little bit
because we feel very vindicated and base a lot of the success of PSN
today - a 70 per cent connection rate across consoles - on the fact that
we've removed that major initial barrier to entry."

"I think that we need to remain hard at work on ensuring the content offering and the content flow remain strong. I have a sense that there is a second tier of PSN users that are almost ready to sign up that are in something of a wait-and-see mode because they want to see a bit more of the roadmap and how it flows out and is it meaningful to them? Which is absolutely fair enough."

So far Sony is stll baiting the Hook before they decide the Future of the PSN Subscription

i would still buy it. It would be nice if it had exclusive content but that is not a deal breaker for me. Oh correct that it does have exclusive content thats even better

No, I'm not lazy and if the disc swap thing was like half game one disc and the other half on another it wouldn't be so bad. My play style is to do the main mission and try to save most of the side missions possible so once I finish the game I still have things to do before starting a new game, and that became annoying when you need to start the game with one disc for a few missions, than change for another few, than change again for the end, than change again for some other missions after the end, than change again for some others.... You get the picture.
I love both games and as I mentioned in some other posts, ME was the reason I became a BioWare fan, but the disc swapping still gets old and a bit annoying, and I said a bit... The game is still fun but if there might be a version without it, it would be a plus. Anyway I'll still be buying the PS3 version too.

I think this is a really good idea and a diplomatic solution to an otherwise unsolvable problem. If I could use my Xbox ME character to play ME2 on PS3, I'd be one happy gamer! Microsoft get to keep their exclusive "full Mass Effect experience" and fans of the series get to enjoy ME2 and possibly ME3 on their console of their choice.

Psycho, do you have a link to this article?

Yes I do.  To Rusted Cage and anyone else who is interested in the idea of being able to access ME1's file saves multiplatform, check this out.  You can find this on n4g.com but I saved you guys the trouble and put up the link.  Here it is:

Also one of the loopholes that would allow Bioware/EA the opportunity to make ME1 on ps3 is changing the combat to mirror Mass Effect 2's. Similar to how Team Ninja found their loophole. I sincerely doubt they will do this but I am purely speaking hypothetically. Therefore I still standby and support the idea presented on n4g.com.

BioWare customers have short attention span. Throw us some DLC bone and we forget about anything else.

They need to go the Oblivion route, but a step further, and release this with ALL DLC included. It would kinda cheat the PS3 owners to release this game a year late, then charge full price for the additional DLC. They need to be given a little something extra, and I think this would be the way to go.

Or, at the very least, include only the Kasumi, Zaeed, Overlord, and Liara DLC. I have all DLC so far, and these are really the only ones of any lasting value. Granted, I bought the Firepower Pack, but have yet to play ME2 since then, so I don't really have an opinion on that DLC.

How would that cheat the PS3 owners? The 360 owners had to pay for some of the DLC, so should the PS3 people.

What if you can actually import data from your PC or Xbox to the PS3? It solves everything
