so, i guess to somehow tie it into this thread, if you're gonna get into ME, and you have a great computer, just get the PC version, because it is a beast... PC version = WIN

My point exactly. PS3 owners will be paying full-price for ME2 on said system, while 360 owners will be paying much, much less for the same game new. I believe myself to be unbiased, as I have both systems (though, I hardly touch my PS3.) The game will, at release, be a hair shy of one year old. This, coupled with pricing and ME1 incompatibility, does not bode well for sales. DLC inclusion would make the purchase just attractive enough to be warranted.Fandango9641 wrote...
Because the game is coming late, without ME1 compatibility. ME2 is available for £15 now, why on earth would PS3 owners be motivated to buy at launch without a more comprehensive package?KingRanger wrote...
How would that cheat the PS3 owners? The 360 owners had to pay for some of the DLC, so should the PS3 people.Monark360 wrote...
They need to go the Oblivion route, but a step further, and release this with ALL DLC included. It would kinda cheat the PS3 owners to release this game a year late, then charge full price for the additional DLC. They need to be given a little something extra, and I think this would be the way to go.
Or, at the very least, include only the Kasumi, Zaeed, Overlord, and Liara DLC. I have all DLC so far, and these are really the only ones of any lasting value. Granted, I bought the Firepower Pack, but have yet to play ME2 since then, so I don't really have an opinion on that DLC.

PS3 owners get a $30 year-old game that has been spoiled and modded like crazy, they don't have ME1, they have to deal with the rampant 360 fanboys who think the PS3 owners owe them a debt, and they have to do it all for a $60 price tag.KingRanger wrote...

What if you can actually import data from your PC or Xbox to the PS3? It solves everything
This is what I was talking about a few days ago about an article on n4g.com. This, in my opinion, is one of the best solutions to fix the importing problem. Check out the article; it could work.

Thanks Pycho and v1K0, that's a nice little article - I like the bloke's passion.
I really hope Bioware/EA considers this approach for returning gamers. I seriously think this approach would work efficiently.

Still very dissapointed Microsoft still won't allow ME1 to be released on the PS3 as well. Do they really think it matters if it's not on the PS3 anymore?

Microsoft certainly is not going to do Sony a favors after EA forced Bioware to release ME2 on PS3.
And in all honesty, if anyone wants to play the enitre triology they can just play it on XBOX or PC.

I see there's still some fanboy hate here... What's the base of your assumption that BioWare was forced to release the game on the other system? They did it with Dragon Age: Origins and I remember in many articles they were saying great things about the PS3 and that they were actually looking forward to develop more on the system, and by now you and many other folks out there should know a third party dev won't and should not limit themselves to one system, and BioWare is NOT a first party dev. I think BioWare should actually had done this earlier, and grabbed as many fans to the series as possible, look at DA:O, a huge fan base = more sells on the sequel = more funds to making a better/fun game for us all.
Now a question to you... How much are you getting paid to give such an answer like that? I played the crap out of both games(yes on the 360) but I'm not making less of the other system or players base just because I got a 360. You sounded exactly like a MS rep but the diference is that, he's getting paid to do what is HIS job. Don't be such ........... next time.

I'm very curious to what they will come up with, it should be something good since it's BioWare. I got so excited with the news of the PS3 version of ME2, I started a new game without using the save from ME/ME2 just to see how it changed from the games I used it, and it does change but not much in my opinion. The only thing though, is that Kaidan never lasted past Vermire even with a female Sheppard lol... <snip>
I tried to do a playthrough without using a ME save import but I didn't get much farther than Freedom's Progress. I felt that the short reunion you have with Tali felt cold and I didn't like the choices the game assumed I made. Not saving the council doesn't make an logical sense to me...
I'm curious to know what other changes there are. How does Garrus react to you? Is Wrex still alive? What about the Rachni?
If the PS3 version isn't a straight port and assumes you have played ME on the 360 (or there is an option that you can choose to have the game react as though you have), I'd be one hapy camper. The Mass Effect series is all about soul and a default, non-import ME2 game lacks that.

It's a tricky one: Yakuza 3 did a fair job of summarising the events of previous games, though prior choices weren’t carried over in the manner of Mass Effect. I really do hope Bioware avoid a quick and dirty fix and focus their attention on delivering a quality, comprehensive PS3 experience. As to how......
You have to understand that this is more than just them getting a good deal. All the community is going to hear is PS3 customers complaining about how shallow this game world is. Little things like [Spoiler]

Agreed. There is no meaningful difference between the PC and Xbox versions, as far as I know, and no difference in the DLC between the two platforms, either.
The graphics. I play the 360 version but the graphics on the PC Demo and beutiful. Assuming you have the right hardware.

PC users have more key bindings, Xbox users will often pause the game many many times.
PC also has better camera angles

Not playing the first mass effect and going straight to the sequel did not affect me at all. The game is good by its own merits. From what I heard and read from reviewsthey revamped and improved basically everythign that made mass effect 1 bad/ boring/ awful/ what have you...based on this that would not make me want to play mass effect 1. I had a blast playing mass effect 2, I didn't miss out on the story as much because of good old mass effect wiki. I just hope there will be a short introduction video to mass effect 2 on ps3 for other players. Maybe EA can pull a team ninja (MS published both ninja gaiden 1 and 2, both made it out on the ps3 titled ninja gaiden sigma 1 and 2 ) and make some changes to mass effect 1 so it can come to the ps3.
So really its not a big deal, BioWare/ EA know what they are doing.
So what you are saying is that you can't think for yourself, and that you let reviewers and others decide what you play or don't play. You have no business at all saying that it didn't effect you nor do you have any place at all commenting on how good or bad ME1 was or was not. If you can't play a game for yourself, and you need to listen to reviews and other nonsense, then you are just a sheep.

When bioware made it so your DEAD warden could suddenly be alive in DAO:A, I knew that any soul that went into Bioware games had vanished.

if you start a game in ME2 without importing all the choices the game assumes you made in ME are basically the renegade ones. wrex is dead, kaiden is dead, council dead. pretty much just death...hope this helps a little

I hear you. That is why I think a servor upload with your file saves would be tremendous. I to tried a default game on ME2 just for curiousity and I thought the experience was very disappointing. The council is dead (which is illogical), Kaiden/Ashely are dead depending on gender, no option to pursue a romance with an ME1 squad member, no mention of being a Spectre, no chance of being reinstated, and of course Wrex is dead. I could keep going on but there are so many weak points in Mass Effect 2 without the option to import your personal experience from Mass Effect 1. I couldn't bare to play after a few hours because I did not like the turn of events. While gameplay is important, the story element is the other half of the equation.

At the main menu, you select New Game. After that, two options come up. "Yes, I have played Mass Effect." or "No, Ihave not played Mass Effect before."
If you select the first option, providing you have played the game on 360 or PC, you fill out a questionnaire that ask about all of your decisions you made in the first game. Who you had a romance with, if you were Paragon or Renegade, etc. to the smallest detail. This way, it would be like importing your own game save in from Mass Effect 1.
The second option would just open with a cinematic featuring the story of ME1 to bring new players up to date.
