I wonder what ME :Genesis is now.

That's probably what they will sell Mass Effect 2 as on the PS3.  They can't really call it 'Mass Effect 2', as there is no 'Mass Effect 1'.

Who?  Who are those people?  Is Ashley that girl that was in it for 20 seconds just to yell at my Shepard?  Yeah. Screw her.  She's just a minor character anyway.   ...what's that?  She was pretty prominent in ME1?  What's ME1?  I just have PS3 and there's no such thing to my knowledge.  Oh well.

ME1 they were the squad mates, they don't have a huge role in ME2, but who's to say how big a role they COULD have had in ME3.

Yeah didn't think I'd actually have to clarify that.  Hehe.

Microsoft published the first Mass Effect. This could be a huge hurdle for any PS3 port of the game.

Maybe they should just treat ME2 PS3 as an alternate reality with similar events and characters. They should then develop ME3 for XBOX 360 as the next part of the main story and design ME3 PS3 as a similar product but with certain characters handled differently.

That's a lawyer's trick, yes that particular statement is rendered such that it accords them with a window of amiguity just large enough to feign charges of deception.

You would have to have been either *really* stupid or really blinded by Xbox devotion to take the PS3 statement at face value after Bio had used the *exact same language* to deny the PC version.

Good news for PS3 owners. I don't begrudge tgem getting a year-old game + dlc. Frankly, we paid to play sooner and I have no qualms being on the front line. That's what happens when you're an "early adopter". The game's been out for a while now and you can pick up a copy for far less than at release. By throwing in dlc, they effectively make it "worth" the full cost ps3 owners will pay.

That said, my one HUGE concern is for the implications of how they will treat ME1/ME2/ME3 as a trilogy, and how choices made in previous games will have consequences, as well as the depth and breadth of those consequences. ME2 already had me concerned with that due to the "cool" cameos (the shunting of most ME1 characters) and "consequences" revealed in emails. Bleh. I was fortunate in that my fave character returned in force as a squaddie, but I still fear whar BW might do to cut corners for ME3, especially with talk of "standalone" games in a trilogy and new squadmates.

We had better get an update for the Liara DLC sometime soon to help calm the $h1t storm Bioware has started, and it damn well better be good. Sorry I'm okay with this going multiplatform but I do feel betrayed because BW stated multiple times that this will not go to the Ps3, well what happend to that bioware hmmmm? I think the answer to that is..... EA!

You actually have no right whatsoever to feel betrayed. Bioware provided a game for $60. You bought that game. Played it.

You're owed nothing else. Nowhere did they ever say "360 and PC exclusive in perpetuity." You had your exclusivity (as I had mine) for a year.

Look I am feeling slightly betrayed. Multiple times it has been said that ME2 would never be released for the PS3, now that it will be I have lost my faith in some of what Bioware says. I do not feel like we are owed anything I just said that I hope the Liara DLC will be good so that everyone will calm down about the announcement. And I am happy for all the people on the PS3 who will now be able to enjoy one of the greatest games ever. Thank you very much. Oh and I do have a right because it is my feelings about the matter and you have no right to get all pissy at me when there are people saying that they should be raped and killed and crap like that. And I never said anything about exclusive where the heck did that come from? I am content with what I got and hope that the PS3 people get the same, nothing more nothing less.

Actually, it makes no sense buying it for PS3 if you don't get ME1 for PS3. I hope Bioware understand that many people, like myself, have both PC and PS3 and actually played ME 1 on PC and know about those numerous decisions.

If there is no ME1 on PS3 then the ONLY reason to ever buy ME2 on PS3 is massive, massive piece of PS3-exclusive content, like +5 hours of gameplay or so. Otherwise it's no strict no-buy.

It sounds like some of the unresolved ME1 choices will be pretty watered down if a third of ME3 buyers wont get to experiance it. I also feel like ive wasted all that money on dlc! I also bet that the ps3 will get exclusive content.

Reading some of these posts make me laugh. I mean at times like this im happy im a PC gamer. I mean whats the problem with being able to share a product you enjoy with a few more people. I for one am happy that a few of my friends with bad computers and ps3's will be able to play this. To hate something like this is just blind console fanboy'ism. Theres plenty of other things worth the effort to hate in this world, but when some of these people get older they will understand that.

And as far as getting all the DLC in one package, i mean why not? We already enjoyed this game for months. I paid 50 bucks for it. I think it costs 30 dollars now(at least on steam). Why would i get mad at someone being able to buy the game for PC with all the dlc for cheaper than i paid months ago?

If people want to be fanboys then let them... it's not like the comments made on here against the fanboys are any different. This is a place that they get to voice their concerns.. it won't change anything but at least BiowEAre can see that they pissed off some of their fans.

This fanboy stuff has gone long enough!

Its not fanboy stuff most people are posting about.  Its the fact now that its crosed over to the PS3 with no ME1. The decisions we have made in that game will have now little or no weight.  No Liara, Wrex, Kaiden, Ash, the PS3 crowd havent played them so they will be thrown on the scrap heap so not to confuse them.
Guess the Liara DLC could be the last time shes my squadmate! :(

Oh, look.  More bits and pieces thrown to the unwashed console hordes.

So, since ME1 isn't a PS3 title, I assume that the "hours of bonus content" is either setting up some of the choices from the prior game, or it's a buch of EA banner adds and a Madden minigame, since this is EA we're talking about.  Baseline "Total ***hole" Shep is going to be the "canon" storyline now, I take it?

This is what happens when good game companies get saddled with soulless corporate money machines (Ie: EA).

Well I had a felling that this might happen. Almost every single game that was ever published by EA, was multi-platfrom. I my personal opion, EA understands that, "this is a giant money bag waiting to be cashed in". EA knew that when they partnered with Bioware, its only logical.

How feasible is it for a condensed, abridged, brief version of ME1 to be tacked on to the beginning of ME2 in the form of an extended prologue, anyway?

That's exactly my point; as I said earlier Bioware should stop making these empty statements and just be open about their future platform expansion plans.

SWEET!!!

I already own it for 360 & PC, but PS3 is my favorite!

Is there going to be a Collector's Edition?

Why does it honestly matter? I'm buying ME2 for PS3 even though I have it for 360 because my PS3 is online, bringing it to PS3 owners doesn't affect 360 owners very much.

Way to shaft your loyal consumers again Bioware, you are loosing support from fans like nobody's business. I thought you all were going past this in the right direction with the announcement of the Liara DLC, but it was just the silent treatment as usual, and for another timebomb at that (just look through the thread). Do they even have a PR anymore? It seems as though brushing loyal fans to the side is the new thing, I'm not surprised though seeing as how the whole PR thing (or lack thereof) has been going ever since the end of ME1

To clarify: I am not bothered by ME2 going to the PS3, but more so the fact that there aren't any answers to the legitimate concerns regarding the exclusive content and how the save file feature will be affected in regards of ME1 and ME3 with all 3 platforms.

I'm both happy and upset about this news. On the one hand, this is definitely at least a little bit of a slap in the face, as this game is by far the best 360 exclusive currently on the market. On the other, I love this game so much that I'm excited for more people (friends with PS3s who have been dying to get their hands on ME2) to get to experience it. I'm stuck!

But I'm with everyone else on one thing: If BioWare takes advantage of the PS3's Blu Ray capabilities by giving them EXCLUSIVE content that 360 users can't get, I am walking. It will be difficult, and it will hurt to not play ME3 (which could be drastically different as ME1 and its characters/decisions could possibly not be part of the PS3 experience), but if a company could do something like that to diehard fans and dedicated Mass Effect players, then I don't really want to give them any more money.

Hopefully it won't come to this. I love the Mass Effect series, and at the end of the day, I'd rather be happy for more people to play it than to lose it altogether. I guess we'll see how this all turns out. The ONLY acceptable "bonus content" would be the DLCs you can get from the Cerberus Network and maybe a condensed version of ME1 with the key decisions and squad mates making an appearance. I seriously doubt that after all of this work, BioWare would just throw away the importing engines, so I'm not terribly worried about that. Everything else...Well, like I said, we'll see.

Yeah, I think I'm giving up on this thread. 90% of the posts are even more retarded than the usual complainer thread. The issue here is the significance of ME1 for ME3. This is a legitimate concern. Everything else is BS.
