I made a minor error in my earlier post

Commander Shepard permutations
BASIC ways to play the game

actually the totals should have been
ME1: 82,944 ways to play, I forgot the 64 different pairing of (6) squad mates
and
ME2: 10,616,832 ways to play, since I forgot the 4,096 possible (12) squad mate pairings also assumes that all 12 survive (not even gonna try to compute how many options on who lives & who dies)
kudos to BW if they somehow make all this workout in ME3

would there be any issues with reading a pc save file on the ps3 via a removable storage drive or usb memory stick or something. I own both mass effects on pc and loved them will probably be getting this for my ps3 aswell. But yeah i really dont see why it would be such an issue to add that feature unless there are legal things im unaware of.

The devs would have to answer that - the 360 couldn't because the importable save was "special" on the 360, and you could not do what you suggest.  Totally depends on the ps3 implementation.

So I preordered Mass effect 2 for the PS3. I LOVE the PS3 and while I have a 360 as well and ME2 for the 360 with all paid content, I would much rather play it on the ps3 ( controller, and tech are way better if devs would harness it properly) especially with all this time to further polish the game, but here are some worries.

To understand the ME story line you HAVE to play ME1 (in my opinion) but Microsoft released a statement saying: * to get the full ME experience it is best played on the 360 due to ME1 being absolutley exclusive, and all the paid content xbox live has*..........so does MS have exclusive console rights to DLC too? I know bioware has said there will be hours of bonus content but what does that mean? All the ME2 DLC already present, or new exclusive content?

In all fairness If the regular DLC is MS exclusive console wise, which MS kind of words it that way in their statement. shouldnt the PS3 get something exclusive? I see people in these forums saying: *THAT BETTER NOT HAPPEN*....why not? if the DLC presently on the market is console exclusive the PS3 should get SOMETHING you selfish bastards lol.

Also you figure Bioware would be doing their best to tell us what we are getting, so far we know jack squat other than its releasing Jan 2011. I remember when Oblivion *bethesda softworks* came to the PS3, it looked and ran WAY BETTER....minus 8 pieces of content (besides the expansions) you could get on LIVE but not the PSN. 2 expasnions came out but the smaller content (but game changing) never made it still making the PS3 version almost null and void considering how much better it looked and ran.

Seriously I hope Bioware doesnt pull the same crap Bethesda did and screw us out of content. Hopefully the Bonus hours is the present DLC. Also MS says that ME1 cant go to the playstation 3...Ninja Guiden Black couldnt either, as Microsoft published the game themselves, till they added Sigma to the name, as Ninja Guiden black is 360 exclusive, but ninja guiden black sigma isnt.

My point to this page worth of crap is: PLEASE BIOWARE DONT SCREW US! I will have both versions because I knew it was coming to the PS3 just didnt know when, PS3 is my favorite console and will be the best operating, and graphically superior console wise, dont leave us hanging with a few hours of DLC the 360 doesnt get and not give us the full game that the 360 does get DLC wise anyway.

This is a simple mans plea: Please just give us everything, we have waited patiently reward us dont give us a game that is really only half the game. And by the way find a way to bring ME1 to the PS3, seriously  ME1 decisions effect ME2 and from the way it sounds decisions from both will effect ME3. Change the name and some of the content or something. Just dont do what so many devs have done this gen and screw PS3 owners *looks at Betesda (oblivion) and 2K games (Mafia 2)* with an inferior port with less content.........Rant over :)

After all is said and done Mass Effect coming to the PS3 doesn't hurt anyone and gives something to those that only own PS3 consoles. Something is better than nothing so though PS3 owners will loose out on ME1 they at least get ME2 and some kinda backstory choices. Oooh they'll probably get a nice space on Home too.

I don't care for fanboyism. Nobody pays me to bolster their product. But I'm damn glad to see those "Xbox 360 exclusives" coming over to the PS3. I'll trade FF13 for Mass Effect any day. I think Mass Effect and future Bioware games will do quite well on the PS3 platform. Hell even Valve is publishing to the PS3 now so you know...If you don't own a PS3...Well there's always Halo.

In your opinion, yes. I say no. They really don't. The game comes down to, like 5 major choices, an hour of relevant cutscenes (maximum) and several more hours of mediocre gameplay that's easily done without.

but Microsoft released a statement saying: * to get the full ME experience it is best played on the 360 due to ME1 being absolutley exclusive, and all the paid content xbox live has*..........so does MS have exclusive console rights to DLC too? "

No, they don't.

I suspect everything up to and including LotSB. Of course whatever content they create to allow you to make the important decisions from ME1.

I also believe another major bridging piece of DLC ala Shadow Broker will be availiable day one of the PS3 release

Qute: In all fairness If the regular DLC is MS exclusive console wise, which MS kind of words it that way...

No, they don't.

Something like this IMHO still isn't outside the realm of possibility, but it's very unlikely.

If there's PS3 exclusive content (that's more than some armor and weapons), I'll have a problem with this.

Good thing BioWare/EA is a business and they really couldn't care less what problems you're having

Im a PS3 gamer. I bought a 360 just to get Mass Effect. To all PS3 people out there, DONT GET THIS ON PS3!, unless ME1 comes out on it as well.

You absolutely need to play the 1st ME, so just buy an xbox, or get it on PC.

You do not. You need the basics of the story presented to you in a coherent way so you can make an informed decision about what your Shep would do.

This does NOT require the totality of ME1. Not by any stretch.

And I already own ME/ME2 on 360. Even so, I'm considering buying the PS3 version as well just for whatever different content there might be as well as the prospect of at least slightly (if not substantially) improved graphics.

I certainly wouldn't say that people need to drop $200 on a new freaking console to play ME.

my god. who cares about you people saying "I'll have a problem with exclusive content. ill have a problem with screwing my own mother" Noone gives a damn about your problems...i want mass effect 2 on ps3 and mass effect isnt really required either..but still, ps3 are missing out on probably the more important game because itwas introductory to the story. any content the ps3 gets, ps3 deserves..

You're right, took the words right out of my mouth, only that I'm pretty sure to get the PS3 version too. And it will be for the very same reasons you posted, looking forward to whatever if any different content it might have, I guess I became a Mass Effect fanatic LOL. I still have both ME for my 360 but since the second will be on PS3 I'm waiting to get the DLCs for it too as I don't feel like renewing my live account just to get them.

Well, Bioware did say that there would e recap for the PS3 owners. I don't see it being too hard for them to add the ability to chose how some important events turned out. Though I suppose that could be considered exclusive content and some of you here hate that phrase.

It does blow that they won't get to play ME1 but if the recap is good than they can still enjoy Mass Effect through 2 and 3 just fine. If they really want to play it than they can get the 360 version or the PC version. Best to look oiut for Steam deals, wouldn't be surprised if thery had a deal where Mass Effect 1 was only $5.00 on steam. I've seen crazier deals.

@ Fandango,

If ME2 had no merit to be considered a good game, I'd agree with you that it would take "incentive" to buy it a year later for a gamers platform of choice, but that's not the case here.

Also their target audience/consumer for the PS3 version are the PS3 owners who either A: Dont have a 360 or PC, but have a PS3, B: Had a 360 or PC(or have a PC but cannot operate min specs) and now have a PS3 but had access to ME1 and or ME2 before C: anybody with a PS3 interested in a good game.

This is huge! I'm an xbox owner myself but I really believe that a PS3 version will take this game to an even higher level. I just hope that 'bonus content' refers to the DLC packs and is not some sort of PS3 exclusive!

Recap and previous decisions would be stupid:

Decision 6: Is Wrex dead or not?

"Who the **** is Wrex?"

It's fine. It simply needs to be presented in a narrative form that allows you to know who Wrex is, why Virmire was important and why you have to make the decision you do.

As I've said before, one logical and fairly easy implementation would be a cutscene "dream sequence" after Shep's first awakening on Lazarus Station and before it comes under attack.

M$ has the rights to the first game unfortunately. If they did though, I'd switch over to the PS3. But without Mass 1 that won't be happening.

They could create a comic type demo that quickly plays though the ME1 story and allows the player to make the choices. It would provide the back story as well which would be nice I do think it would be unfair to not provide some means of telling the story of the first game if ME1 can't be ported to PS3.

The issue is of course that doing so would cause a clamour for a similar thing for xbox and pc and if they did that it would likely reduce the sales of ME1 as well as increase the demands for a similar thing for both ME1&2 when ME3 hits.
