My only worry about the PS3 version is what shoulder pads they are going to map the aim and fire actions to.

Probably similar to the ones the 360 has (and to some extent like it is for DAO on PS3)  I would imagine. I was having a look at this the other day trying to work it out. Way I see it, the controllers 'button wise' aren't that much different other than the ones on the right being X, Y, A and B for 360 and Square, Triangle, X and Circle for PS3.

So it'll probably be something like

Triangle - Mapped power (just like it is for DAO)
Circle - Melee/Exit (latter for when your controlling the Normandy)
Square - Skip chat (just as used in DAO too)/Reload/Hold to change to last gun/Start-Close Scanner
X - Use/Hold for Sprint/Cover/Vault (latter with Left stick pushed forward)
R1 - Use Mapped power/Hold for power wheel
R2 - Fire/Launch Probe
L1 - Use Mapped power/Hold for power wheel
L2 - Aim/Zoom/Scan Planet
Directional Buttons - Command squad
Start - Pause Menu
Select - Holster Weapon.

I've got PC version myself but seen that on 360 version you can change the stick and button configuration between each other so I imagine same will apply for PS3 version.

Am looking forward to seeing what its like on the PS3 :)

Ah man, I really hope they don't go with that trigger layout, the bottom triggers don't usually work well for aimming and firing.

It'd be nice if there was full manual config options, I don't know if they had that for the 360 version. Personally I think it'll be ok as it is, although I do agree I'd rather the R and L buttons be swapped so aim/shoot are on the R/L1 buttons and the mapped powers on the R/L2 buttons.

Yeah that annoyed me with the Riddick version on PS3 when games like Resistance and Killzone worked proper

Conversely I heard that Mirror's Edge had the same problem in reverse on 360 (have the PS3 version) so who knows what will happen with the port. I do not remember how customizable the controls were in the original 360 versions of either ME game.  I should check...

"Mass Effect 2 for PS3 will have the voices in Spanish?. I think that a game of this caliber should have a Spanish dub. bieoware and ea or at least should consider this.

Wow.... I never even though about if they would add the Move to ME2 for PS3... If they do it right and make it worth trying, it would give me a reason to actually pick it up(Move). I owned a 360 sadly for some time but had to Move-on to a more reliable console. (5x RROD=no fun and 3 of those where within a few months time due to MS sending me broken consoles with more issues than the console I sent them...) So I been PS3 ever since... 1 month after Tekken 6 released. It RROD on that day and I was out of a console ever a month! I owned ME1-2 on 360 before that and when it hits PS3, I will re-pick it up gladly. It was my only regret of not owning that console with Left 4 Dead 2. I re-bought dang near all my games I had on 360 for the PS3. I knew if I waited long enough Bio would listen to my pleas and port ME to the PS3. More ME fans the better for us and the company. EA is a multiplatform company, same for Bioware, they just they had little experience with PS3. Any game put on the PS3 is a must buy just due to their name attached to the game. Im sad I wont get ME1, but if I get ME3 day 1 with the other console's release date, then Im happy. If worst comes to worst and I can only pick my options for ME1 but cant relive the game, I can always(though sadly) youtube it. It wont do justice to anyone who's never played ME1 though, so I hope they find a solution. Maybe they can make ME1 but take out the Mako and searching on planets for materials and call it a different name!

I don't really get the hubbub about the PS3 version. So they're releasing it on another console. I don't see the big deal. It's not going to affect the quality of ME3 or any future DLC. Sure, it's an obvious way to suck up more money, but let's face it - that's the whole point of business, no matter what sector it's in. If anything, the revenue from the PS3 version could actually contribute MORE funds for ME3 and future DLC.

The only thing which will annoy me is if all of the currently available DLC which I've paid for is given for free on the PS3 version (sorry if this, and anything else I've said, has been covered already in this topic... you'll forgive me if I don't want to read through 158 pages to find out >.<).

How is it selling out to make a PS3 version? I mean it is not like it is coming out on the Wii.

I have both an xbox360 and a PS3 and I have to say that PS3 or 360 exclusives are getting rarer and I do not think that it is selling out to want to expand to another platform even if it is all about making more money.

It would be selling out if they decided that they wanted to make the same game work on the Wii, PS3, 360, PC, DS, PSP and your iphone because they would have to lighten to game content and graphics to make it work on all those platforms. Besides, more profit for Bioware will hopefull mean more money to put into devoloping ME3....wishful thinking? perhaps, but I am going to keep on thinking it none the less Image IPB

Pretty much everything has been brought up multiple times in this LOL-fest of a thread XD

As for getting the DLC for free, the game is coming one year after the PC/360 version, and by that time you can get the game pretty cheap on those systems, it's only fair that PS3 version gets it for free since PS3 users will be paying full price for it.

It's the typical early adopter price, you pick something up at launch and it will cost you more, someone buys a 3K 3DTV today, I will be able to buy a better quality 3DTV for 1K in a year or two.

Look at Fallout 3 for example, early adopters that bought the game and all DLCs at launch paid about 100$ for it(50$ for the game and 10$x5 for the DLCs), I paid 19.99$  for the GOTY Edition with all the DLCs and patches.

I mean are you going to be annoyed when an Ultimate Edition ME2 gets released later on as well, or are you annoyed that you can pick up ME2 now for 15-20$ while people who bought it at launch had to pay 50-60$ ?

I paid full price for the collectors edition at launch :P  Which means so far, including DLC, I've paid more for ME2 than the total price of ME2 PS3.  Sure, if I'd bought it later on when the price was reduced I probably wouldn't think it was as bad.  It's my opinion though, you don't have to agree with it, but it's not going to change either.  (I also bought the Fallout 3 collectors edition at launch ;) )

However, the PS3 edition, as far as I know, isn't being released as a GOTY edition, so your argument about a GOTY edition is somewhat invalid.  If it IS released as GOTY, I rescind my annoyance.

I'm not trying to change your opinion, only presenting another perspective, it's your prerogative to be annoyed but you can't say it's unfair(Which you didn't) since it's coming out a year later, so  they either release the game at 20$ or they include DLC to sweeten the deal for potential buyers, and they're going the DLC route =]

I'd pay to play the summary of ME1 PS3 will get on my pc and I'd be a little pissed if it was something exclusive for them. Even something like that. My two cents.

Will all the DLC I purchased for the PC be usable in the PS3 version? considering its linked to my Cerberus Network account?

nope, once you redeem a promotion or a bonus code it's only functional for the platform you used it on, same goes for DLC.
yes it is stupid, I think for promo/pre-order/colletors dlc should be multiplatform, but whatever.
The "free" cerberus stuff will be fair game though, so long as you get a new copy of the PS3 version when it comes out.
Plus "most" dlc that's out already for PC and 360 will come with the PS3 version, LotSB may not make the list of DLC included with the PS3 version though. But you'll just have to wait and see.

The collector gear/terminus/inferno will most likely be downloadable. I got it with my 360 version, and was able to download them for the PC when I bought the pc version. Even got the Dr. pepper codes. So those should be supported for PS3 also. Those DLC's are the only cross platform ones. The paid DLC you will have to repurchase.

I know it sucks, that's why I didn't fully convert to the PC.

But then again...Awesome story, full on Biotics, Wrex as a squad member, Liara side boob (yes THAT side boob that whipped Fox News into a frenzy), optional helmet off, ability to crouch, Tali all young and excited to be on the Normandy...Yeah, PS3 owners will miss out on that too.

You'd be amazed how well Youtube compensates for that

Hmm... I wonder if they'll at least do a blu-ray with all the cutscenes of the first Mass Effect and "semi" canon choices from Shepard, so we can at least follow the storyline. :\\

The promo stuff (Dr. Pepper, terminus, inferno, collector etc.) is crossplatform on the PC/x360 axis, but none of the 'sold' DLC has so far been (including Cerberus network). No way of knowing what the situation is going to be on the PS3.

too bad they dont get the first mass effect too. now they dont get the same feel of the series. sure they get to make choices but they dont get to experience it. saren and sovereign were bad ass. i thought the first game was just as good if not better than the second.

Just read a couple pages, wow, what a bunch of crybabies.

Played 1&2 on 360 that I borrowed from a friend, but never got around to grabbing any DLC, so might pick it up on PS3 as that is my preferred system. Hope we hear more about the bonus material soon.

EDIT - Just read that the bonus content will be all the DLC up to date and a customized intro to bring ps3 users up to speed about what they missed in ME1. Source: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/4491628 and www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php

Definite purchase for me!
