We had better get an update for the Liara DLC sometime soon to help calm the $h1t storm Bioware has started, and it damn well better be good. Sorry I'm okay with this going multiplatform but I do feel betrayed because BW stated multiple times that this will not go to the Ps3, well what happend to that bioware hmmmm? I think the answer to that is..... EA!
You actually have no right whatsoever to feel betrayed. Bioware provided a game for $60. You bought that game. Played it.
You're owed nothing else. Nowhere did they ever say "360 and PC exclusive in perpetuity." You had your exclusivity (as I had mine) for a year.
Actually they did say it.
RPGFan: So, Mass Effect, originally on Xbox 360, ported to PC. With Dragon Age, you guys have gone fully multiplatform. Is there any plans to see Mass Effect on PS3?
CH: Mass Effect 2 is just on Xbox 360 and PC. People find that to be a surprising answer. We have exclusivity with Microsoft.

I have both console so I don’t really care if Bioware is doing a Ps3 version. But, I have to admit that Chris is pretty good at spouting bull****.

How feasible is it for a condensed, abridged, brief version of ME1 to be tacked on to the beginning of ME2 in the form of an extended prologue, anyway?
Thats what I think they will do. Shouldnt be too difficult to add on. Problem is though PS3 players wont have the hours of gaming and the experience ME brought. Can you really sum up the awesomeness of ME1 in an extended prologue? Can you show the weight of the decisions such as the Rachni queen and saving the council or letting them die?

I'm both happy and upset about this news. On the one hand, this is definitely at least a little bit of a slap in the face, as this game is by far the best 360 exclusive currently on the market. On the other, I love this game so much that I'm excited for more people (friends with PS3s who have been dying to get their hands on ME2) to get to experience it. I'm stuck!
But I'm with everyone else on one thing: If BioWare takes advantage of the PS3's Blu Ray capabilities by giving them EXCLUSIVE content that 360 users can't get, I am walking. It will be difficult, and it will hurt to not play ME3 (which could be drastically different as ME1 and its characters/decisions could possibly not be part of the PS3 experience), but if a company could do something like that to diehard fans and dedicated Mass Effect players, then I don't really want to give them any more money.
Hopefully it won't come to this. I love the Mass Effect series, and at the end of the day, I'd rather be happy for more people to play it than to lose it altogether. I guess we'll see how this all turns out. The ONLY acceptable "bonus content" would be the DLCs you can get from the Cerberus Network and maybe a condensed version of ME1 with the key decisions and squad mates making an appearance. I seriously doubt that after all of this work, BioWare would just throw away the importing engines, so I'm not terribly worried about that. Everything else...Well, like I said, we'll see.

It's been done before, I think. They could do the whole interactive graphic novel bit. They could go "Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel"

My main concern is how they handle the ME1 experience, I want the PS3 players (of which I will be one, I will play the game on both consoles) to have the full effect of the trilogy, starting the story at ME2 would be a disservice to those players and the ME franchise itself. I am hoping for a truncated version of ME1 that will serve as an intro to ME2 (basically the ME1 main story and important sidequests, with abbreviated combat). I think there's enough room on a Blu-Ray for that.

Hm. That doesn't really assuage my concerns. If the bonus content makes it that much easier for ME2 to actually be the starting point for the series for PS3 users that's even worse. Because then it's like ME1 didn't happen. Which is the main concern here - choices from ME1 carrying over to ME3.
This .
It isn't the Ps3 port in ITSELF that makes people worry . Unless there is a mean for Ps3 users to make some choices à la Kotor 2
I believe you didn't comprehend my post completely then. My suggestion states that Bioware creates a mini-ME1, which is the presupposed "bonus content", INTO ME2 before the game starts.
I changed my main post to clarify this, but like I said, Bioware's stated MULTIPLE times that the PS3 version will have "Hours of bonus content making it the perfect entry point to the franchise". That sounds like they're trying to make ME2 a viable first game series, which can only be possible through implementing a way to get ME1 choices in there.
Simply put, Bioware isn't stupid. They wouldn't snub their entire fanbase to appease a new one. The selling point to their games IS the Import Utility, so to go against that feature makes little marketing sense. I guarantee ME1 choices will carry over to ME3 (Though the gravity of those choices is yet to be seen).

I dont care if PS3 fanboys get to taste the awesomeness of ME2 or that the ME3 release date has just been pushed back an entire year, no what concerns me the most is the significance the ME1 storyline, its characters, and the decisions will have in ME3. Rachni? Saren? Coucil? Ash/Kaidan? Blue Scientist girl? Questions oblivious PS3 players will ask themselves in ME2 and maybe ME3.
Bioware just dug themselves into a deep hole. Now they have to please the Xbox, PC, and PS3 fanbase equally. I do not know what to expect in ME3 all we can do is keep our fingers crossed.

Why do that, when they can just have the PS3 users play with the default ME1 choices? They did this in ME2 for the default Shepard.

That said, my one HUGE concern is for the implications of how they will treat ME1/ME2/ME3 as a trilogy, and how choices made in previous games will have consequences, as well as the depth and breadth of those consequences. ME2 already had me concerned with that due to the "cool" cameos (the shunting of most ME1 characters) and "consequences" revealed in emails. Bleh.

Since I actually loathe the console that is PS3 I'm rather unhappy with this decision. But sure, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the wonder we all know as Mass Effect couldn't possibly be harmful. We cannot be that selfish, now can we?
Although I've got to admit; if that "bonus content" is stuff that I've had to pay extra for (as a loyal consumer and fanatic), I sincerely need to shed a tear out of jealousy, and then feel self pity for an hour about the unfair treatment. That'd feel sort of like busting your ass off for years pleasing your boss, and then have the newly hired guy promoted for nothing.
