Do you have a link to a translated piece of that announcement?

I do not have link to a translated announcement as I did not need translator myself. Anyway, the link to the original Polish announcement is here: http://eu.masseffect.../news/?id=73359 (you may need to change your language to view it), you can use Google or some other service to translate it yourself.

Greg Zeschuck has just released some info about the PS3 version of ME2,during and interview with the magazine PSM3,he talked about graphical changes. He has been quoted saying "The important thing is that, fundamentally, [PS3] has a very different architecture. Visually, there are probably some changes - I mean, there are differences in the way the memory is allocated, and the graphical processor is all different."

Fantastic news! I was wavering whether to get an xbox 360 or not, with the prime motive being mass effect and possibly fables, but now it seems my decision has been made much easier. :)

Zing.

I'll reiterate. That's how it works. That's how it works because some people:

- Simply don't buy DLC

- Some CAN'T buy DLC. I know people with dial-up. I know a couple people that have no internet access at home at all.

- Frugal people who wait for the prices of the games they want to drop.

For these people the GOTY versions are the only ones they want. That's a signifficant market for any developer. Certainly big enough to warrant repackaging and reselling a product already created and on the downward slope of sales before a GOTY is released.

Easy money.

Visually I cant really see much of an improvement worth considering getting a PS3 or the PS3 version of the game if you already owned a pc or 360 copy of it. When The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion got ported to the PS3 the graphical changes were not groundbreaking or even that noticeable going by the screen shot comparisons I saw.

Sure its great that the PS3 crowd gets to play this game but they will still miss out on the first game completely. Well my opinion is that it should have stayed exclusive to the X-Box 360 and PC since the first game was only available on them.

All the decisions that Shepard made that is supposed to carry over to ME2 and ME3 will be downsized to some lame intro junk. The story so far that was not played by you or the Mass Effect 1 For Dummies edition. Thats not really fair to the PS3 crowd is it?

Is the wait to get it really worth it though? But who knows how long it will take for them to release all the downloadable content that’s already out for the PS3 as well. Anyone recall the Fallout 3 waiting problems just to name a single game I’m familiar with? When your playing ME2 on your PS3 and waiting for the downloads already out to get released, the rest of us will likely be playing the next new downloadable content.

Releasing the game to the PS3 this late still seems more like a EA marketing “Lets get more money.” scam to me. Will Mass Effect 3 get released on all systems at the same time or will there be another year delay for the PS3 crowd?

I got it! This is a very elaborate April Fools joke, they're taking a year so everyone will believe it, then BLAM! "gotcha!" :D

Bioware will tell everyone that PS3 owners will get hours of bonus content and in fact get 15 hours content cut as a part of this elaborate joke.

still, I think it's stupid to port the second game if you don't have the first one to use the savegame in the second.

I was considering buying a PS3 when ME2 comes out, but graphics won't make a difference to the STORY and that's the main reason I keep playing through the series. Not being a fanboy, I'd just rather use the money for a PS3 on an iPhone...

My only worry about them shipping ME2 to the PS3 is if it is just a one time thing, that would get no online support when it comes to future DL and patches. I hate that.

Though I am interested in getting another version of ME2. Me actually buying it heavily depends upon what is actually added to it to make up for the lack of ME1, though.

Quick question: Does the porting of ME2 to PS3 mean that dev time is taken away from starting developing ME3? How big is this project anyways?

The PS3 has a different architecture so Bioware is taking time to port it over to the PS3.I think it is safe to say that Bioware will take a couple of months with the ME2 port and also to make ME3 more multi-platform friendly. Here is an article in which Greg Zeschuck talked about the PS3 version port and changes:

They talk about "visual changes" but Mass Effect uses the Unreal Engine? How different will it look? Most multi-plats that use the UE 3 look identical, with the exception of lazy ports.

Actually most unreal engine games look slightly better on the 360(slightly) but Mass Effect 2 is runs on a modified version of Unreal Engine which is even more suited towards the 360's strength.Bioware will have to put effort into the PS3 port.I expect them to design a modified version of Unreal suited for PS3 and then port the game using that. That way they can take advantage of the PS3's strengths.if you are curios the 360 can display more polygons on screen but the PS3 excels at lighting and shaders. They have plenty of time to work on it so I expect an Oblivion like port from Bioware.

P.S:If Bioware was planning to bring ME3 to the PS3 from the start of development then the game will come out on time.If the PS3 version was decided on later during development then the game will get pushed back a month or two.

I can understand a person who already owns a ps3 and wants mass effect 2 being excited - but WHY WOULD ANYONE who doesn't own either get a ps3 based on ME being on it when you do not nor will ever get the first game - one of the  better things in the serieso are the carry over choices, which at best will be watered down in the ME intro. Not to mention that besides the choices the character relationships  will not be as impact full - rediscovering lost friends and romances will have little meaning - in fact ps3 players will not even HAVE any carry over romances OR friendships

Thank you EA/ Bioware for stabbing me in the back with all this exclusive pre order and LE content that you sold later for dlc. and this never before see behind the seens dvd that i watched all of on Biowares website months before the game came out. and now of all things you are going to take a PC and Xbox 360 only game and give it to sony. and more than likely give them exclusives too (but months down the road charge it too us, thus screwing everyone over).
You are in no doubt extending the time its going to take for ME3 to come out now, and chances are the PS3 owners are going to get exclusive content for it.   Bioware you sold yourselves to the devil. Ive been a devoted fan ever since i was young but i sware to God if you screw me over with ME3 ill stop playing your games when they come out and just get them used, and i will not download DLC. Im not going to pay someone who thinks its hilarious to abuse their fans.:crying:

wow, cry much?

Bioware had already said that the ps3 version will not affect the release schedule of ME3.

EDIT - Here's the post where Bioware confirms it will not affect the ME3 release schedule: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/103/index/4471656/2
