@charmingcharlie Thanks for reply. Well, that news sucks, but I'm not going to get worked up over it. I'll probably still enjoy the game, but it would have been nice if offline players could have been taken into consideration.
Why isn't your PS3 connected to the internet? Jailbreak?

Ok,but that's a rare case.Durasteel made it sound like as if it was PS3 owners fault that that Episodes from LIberty City was delayed on the PC.What happened was very rare and and in most cases PS3 ownners get DLC late.I remember that Return to Ostagar came late on the PS3,but I don't blame PC and Xbox owners. It was actually Sony's fault and Bioware made the right choice and released the PC and 360 version first. It was Rockstar's decision to delay Episodes from Liberty City for the PC.Durasteel can't blame Sony and PS3 owners for what happened.Plus it would have never happened in the first place if Microsoft hadn't paid 50 million for timed exclusivity. They have done the same thing for Fallout New Vegas, just remember that Sony isn't the one running around securing exclusive DLC.Sony has once or twice secured mission packs but that is nothing compared to the kind of stuff Microsoft makes exclusive.charmingcharlie wrote...

P.S:I agreed with what you said, except for the last part in which you said console gamers are preventing you from getting DLC.
I believe durasteel may have been referring to DLC from another game not DLC from Mass Effect. He is probably talking about the fiasco with the GTA 4 DLC which was pegged to be released on the PC and PS3 at the same time. Then a few weeks before it was released it got delayed by around 2-3 weeks because Sony Europe had some issues with the actual content and demanded changes to the PS3 version.
Rockstar had the option of delaying the PS3 version and allowing the PC version to be released. However Rockstar being the paragons of "fairness" decided to postpone the PC version as well stating "it would be unfair to release the PC version before the PS3 version". It is funny how their notion of "fairness" never comes into play when dealing with PC gamers mind you (hey we only have to wait a year for them to port their games).
In many ways the PC never affects the consoles in a negative way, yet time and time again we see console manufacturers getting so desperate to try and out do each other that the PC inevitably ends up in the crossfire.
You know it is funny when I first heard about Mass Effect 1 making the transition to the PC I was quite content with that. I looked forward to playing the game on my prefered platform, I didn't expect bucketloads of free content that xbox users had paid for, I didn't expect exclusive PC only content. It was enough that the game was coming to my preferred platform.
Now here are the PS3 users, they are getting a great game, an innovative introductory comic and hours of extra content that we have had to pay for yet that still doesn't appear to be enough for PS3 owners. Nope they want extra content that won't be available to PC/360 owners to justify the fact they had to "wait".
P.S:ME1 PC owners got a better package. They didn't have to deal with excessive texture popping,Low Frame rate, freezing that I as an Xbox owner had to go through.PC owners also got Bring Down the Sky for free. All PS3 owners wanted from ME2 was an intro that you could use to make choices. No one is asking for more. The current package is just fine since PS3 owners will be paying 60 dollars for a year old game. There is nothing exclusive in the entire package except for the interactive comic, which PC/360 owners will get eventually.

Its similar to the GotY edition concept. You can get ME + ME2 + Kasumi + Overlord + Shadow Broker at about the same price as the PS3 version these days.Drakkhenden wrote...
I would like to get those DLCs for free. Why should xbox 360 owners who bought ME2 get shafted?
That said, they should have announced some GotY edition on the PC and 360 and people would be cool.
As for the comic, the "initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners" part sounds somewhat promising for other platforms (I would take fixed import tool, but this should do)...

game will be a year old by then anyway and you can pick it up for £10
on the 360 anyway. However, I would not like the idea of exclusive
in-game content being released on PS3. Whilst I own a PS3 and will
likely get ME2 for it, the 360 will be my main format for the ME trilogy so I'd still be losing out. Hopefully there is no PS3-exclusive content

1. DLC for free - you could have it cheaper for xbox now, so that free stuff is not quite free, just compare the prices
2. The game have a year. Time is the value.
3. Comic - we don't even know what it is, nobody seen this but everyone wants this. It is a little like the men part of humanity demanding the right of bearing the child. As a women part - you can take it, I would even pay you:))) What I mean - this is the only way for PS3 palyers to make choices form ME1 but they can't play ME1. So... maybe it would be like 1 hour character creation. What then? Every time you want character from ME1, you need to spend 1 hour to create it? I hope it will be separate, but who knows?
Of course I have no idea what will it be, so maybe the wise thing will be wait and see if you like it or not... then demand?
About the GOTY I will be carefull. I still hope for new DLC, and GOTY should have all the stuff included (that kind of second copy of the game I would buy, complete with all addons).
If they relese GOTY now, I will be worried, that LOTSB was the last DLC, and it is not what they promised.... - that will be sad, awfull and all other bad words... If I could choose, I would like to see the GOTY edition in time before the ME3 relese. A month maybe... (DLC, DLC, dlc....more of them please)
What I would like to get now - THE INFO.... especialy about the new DLC...

OMFG get a life people there is nothing you can do at this point but here you are complaining and such about an idea that will on the hole suck anyway cause the PS3 will not be able to handle ME2 better than the 360 or PC so if EA wants to give ME2 to sony let them cause its gonna go the way of fallout 3 GOTYE buggy and craching here there and everywhere cause the PS3 is a inferior console
Only one word... Idiot

exactly, my pc copy of mass effect plus shadow broker and kasumi will still probably be less expensive then the ps3 version as long as i dont miss out on content because i got it for pc rather then my ps3 i have no problem with it.

That rather depends on how you define "late". By all accounts the PS3 takes many times longer to develop content for than PC or Xbox. If the DLC is released as soon as it is ready on each platform then the PS3 will get it after the others. It's not so much a case of the PS3 getting DLC "late" but more an inherent weakness of the console.

It was delayed because there were some legal issues with SCEE.The DLC itself was ready.bobito64 wrote...

Yes, I am one of those who only own a PS3. So, obviously, I haven't played the first one, even though I was always interested in it.
I'm very happy that Bioware and EA decided to bring this franchise to the PS3 because for sure, I will buy ME2 come january 11th.
I do not understand why people are so...I don't know how to say it....it's has you guys are affraid other people (PS3 owners) will enjoy the game...
Personnaly, I could care less if say, Polyphony Digital brought GT5 to the 360 or if Uncharted was beeing made for the 360. As long as the fact that the game is beeing made for multiple platforms doesn't affect the quality of the product, who cares really!?
I'm glad that Bioware found a way for new customers to still understand the story of the first one through the comic, it's a nice creative way to bring people into the Mass Effect world and up to date for ME2.
I can't wait for january 11th and hope a lot of PS3 gamers like me enjoy, what looks like, a great game experience!

Aside from that, I don't see any major reason to get upset about the PS3 version, it's just like the GOTY edition 360/PC owners will get, with a few things thrown in to fill in the ME1 blanks.

The only reason for early owners to complain is if PS3 gets exclusive content that PC or 360 will never get. Then I call shenanigans on EA/Bioware for being douches, not that it would matter since they already have most of my money, but I'll still be POed.
This. ME2 on PS3? Great for PS3 only gamers! All previously released DLC included? Why not, no different then a GOTY edition! Exclusive content for PS3? BioWare, what are you thinkin!!11!!

Has anyone ever taken the time to notice that MOST exclusive content isn't exactly worth getting worked up over, its not likely to be another 12 hours of additional content people. Its a bit of an insentive for those that don't have it to go out and buy it.

I dislike exclusive content for any version of any game. I wouldn't care if it was the same gun with different colors and I don't even like weapon DLCs. I don't even like the preorder exclusives given to the different retailers.I also believe the way the game is packaged should be the same for all platforms. I am actually happy that the PS3 is getting into the ME universe.Si-Shen wrote...

It wont make my PC version of the game any less then it is, it wont make the 360 version suddenly sub-par. It would be like buying a bottle of pop and being upset when someone gets a blue labeled bottle of the same thing I got that had a green label.
Edit: empTe, its unlikely that any exclusive content that is truely relevent to the ME story will be exclusive to one version or another, I think you will see something similar to the armor or weapon packs already out for the PC and 360.

Myself, I could care less when one version gets something over another, its not even the type of thing I look for when I get a game with bonus material. This extra content is just going to be something minor that no one will miss, much like the other exclusive items LiamN7 mentioned, I have the Blood Dragon armor, dont use it, the CE armor, dont use it. If this bit of exclusive content helps bring in some new players into the ME Universe, then its a good thing, thats all that matters.

I agree, nothing wrong with weapons or armor IMO.

To offer a contrary view, I'll only be purchasing this at launch if the PS3 package includes significant exclusive content. Why? No Mass Effect one peeps! To all intents and purposes the original game is (not insignificant) exclusive content for PC and Xbox users, which renders near all of the above mentioned objections over ‘parity’ moot.
You do have a point here. A few exclusive armours isn't in the same league as the complete first game. Still, I'd prefer no exclusive content for any platfom.

Because in the end some scenes in ME2 might feel like a very hollow uninteresting experience. Take Horizon for example I don't think the interactive comic will give players any true feel of the bond Shepard supposedly had with that crew member. PC and 360 gamers have the opportunity to experience the bond by buying ME1 but PS3 owners won't ever get that opportunity and have to rely on what they're told and not what they can experience.

Exactly. To summarize: if PS3 version of ME2 is identical to PC and 360 + all DLC and comic, then it's a $20 purchase. If it has significant PS3-exclusive content, then it's a $80 first-day buy.Fandango9641 wrote...
