Wait a minute so let me get this straight we 360/PC players show our support and buy the game at launch and they ignore us buy giving the PS3 players all free DLC and use the ME3 engine? WTF? Will there be a 360/PC version that gets the same stuff? If they did I would probably buy the game again.

EDIT You could also have some kind of deal for those who already have the game.

I don't understand your umbrage here. You got to play ME2 a full year before PS3 owners. You're not taking into account the temporal aspect here. If Bioware came to you and said: "Hey, I'll let you play the full version of Mass Effect 3 right now, OR, you can wait a year and play a version that is slightly better looking, both for the same price" you're telling me you would have chosen to wait the year? BS.

I would not wait given that option of a little better graphics vs just having the game now. I have every achievement for the first two games already and willl get em all for ME3 but no way I could try to wait a year or even a few months.

I mean the game won some awards already one being G4s game of the year and ps3 users still are a month away from getting it.

It's great they will have it. Too bad uncharted can't give us their game

I am sure gears of war could sell a few million on a ps3 too

Oh come on, just look on the prices of ME2 on all platforms before writing anything. ME2 on PS3 costs more than other versions (price as high as those of new games). You can get ME2 on X360/PC with all DLCs for almost same price?

BTW. ME1, ME2, ME3 run on the SAME engine. It's just UE3 with some upgrades, that's all.

PS3 users getting something nice doesn't affect 360 and PC users in any way; In case you're forgetting the PS3 misses out on ME1 which is a huge drawback in my opinion, as it means no character importing and ME1 is better than ME2 imo, so they're not getting to play the better game.

ME1 + ME2 a year earlier is much better than some shinier graphics.

^ Couldn't disagree more. ME1 had waaaaayyyy too much dialogue (the story wasn't even all that interesting IMO) and not nearly enough action. If I was new to the series, I'd rather start off with all of that out of the way rather than having to sit through it all to get caught up.

No character importing? My aren't you out of the loop.

PS3 users will have access to 'Mass Effect: Genesis - Interactive Back Story' comic from the Cerberus Network which allows PS3 users new to the series (and old who got it on PS3 as well) to create a Shepard at the start of the comic either male/female and pick the background/profile then go through the comic and allows them to make some of the key choices from the story which they can then move that character through into ME2 with.

Oh yes it won't cover every nook and cranny Mass Effect has, but it will be enough for the main story and Mass Effect 2 is very nice on it's own (IMHO).

Aye, but they aren't getting the full experience are they. Mass Effect 1 is well worth playing and I doubt some interactive comic is going to replicate the ME1 experience.

I just don't see what all the whinging is about.

I for one am thrilled that I'll finally be able to play Mass Effect 2. Wish I could have also played ME1, but I guess the comic will suffice. This series was the only thing tempting me to get a 360. Glad I didn't make the plunge, as they don't have many must haves left. Thanks Bioware :D Loved the demo just released last night too. I can't wait to play the game.

I used to own an Xbox 360 and I played the hell out of Mass Effect. After the RROD I never bothered to replace it. Now that I only have a PS3 I can't wait to play ME2.

So, not everyone that only owns a PS3 hasn't played ME1. The inclusion of the interactive comic allows me to basically bring over my existing characters.

Hats off to you Bioware.

I hope, that the interactive Comic doesn´t means ... only these few "decisions" count for ME 3 and the rest is beeing dropped due to "not possible on PS3".

I loved the demo and am really looking forward to getting the game. I will say that after playing the demo through a second time and reading about the original ME companions I was really beginning to feel like I'd missed out by not playing the first game. I'm ecstatic and appreciative the BioWare/EA brought this to the PS3 platform but it's hardly optimal. I'm considering getting a gaming PC to try to cover as many basis as possible from this point on but the console is really my favorite way to play games.

I used to have an Xbox but getting another system while we already have two PS3's in the house is a bit much, lol.

Personally I feel that not playing the first game is a huge problem. I know that having an interactive comic in the beginning is going to "sum up" the first story; however, this is like saying, "Luke is good, Vader is bad, and there are lasers. Here, watch Empire."

The comic isn't going to give you those fine details that made ME1 so great. As previously stated I used to own an Xbox 360 and loved ME1. Must have played through it at least 5 times. No 15 minute comic is going to bring each characters personality to life.

If you haven't played the first game I would definatelly beg, borrow or steel for a xbox360/pc and a copy of ME1.

Whilst it maybe true to some degree, considering it is going to be narrated by Meer or Hale (depending on which sex your shep is) and I imagine will have music playing in the background to really help set the scenes. I think it might be good. So far the only 'motion comic' I've seen in full is the one which acts as a prologue to 'Inception' (that comic is about 14 minutes long) and I enjoyed that and it gave a nice little insight into Cobb and some of the other characters from the movie. So I am looking forward to seeing how the ME comic is going to be. Sure it won't be to the level of playing a 20+ hour game (I know it can be done in less time but that is a speed run and would miss out on the type of thing your describing). But it can easily give far more detail than just basic 'Luke is good, Vader is bad, and there are lasers. Here, watch Empire.' as you say.

Don't get me wrong, I'd highly suggest playing the first if possible, but not everyone is going to have that ability and so I think the comic would suffice for them and it could surprise some people that aren't sure about it. Specially if what Gamespot has said about a particular scene inclusion is true

I still think Bioware should implement a way to import your file save through the Cerberus Network from xbox or PC to ME2. Even though it is for returning gamers, who agrees this would be a great addition?

feels and looks great for PS3, can't wait to get it. Oh, and to all of the XBOX fanboys out there, GTA used to be a PS2 exclusive. So don't get on your high horse about this one

errm..no

GTA is a multi platform game, even the Machintosh (a few years bit late ) ,Dreamcast (for GTA2), IOS and the GameBoy got versions for  it.

in my mind the "stories" dont count. they are just ****ty spin-offs.

even so, it still seems like a ploy from EA/Bioware. I dont see any reason why they could'nt create a port sooner.

Here's an open letter to Bioware. I'm posting it here because I can't find an email address to contact you at.

I very much enjoyed playing ME1 several times through, over and over again so that I could experience the full suite of dialogue/outcomes and create several "characters" to carry along to ME2. I carried over 3 of them, 1 paragon male, 1 renegade male, and one mixed-actions female.

I very much enjoyed playing ME2 several times through, each time with one of my previous characters from ME1 so that I could not only experience the repurcussions of my previous actions, but also to set myself up for the "Full ME3 Experience" by having characters derived from several conceivable decision routes. I now have 5 different characters to bring into ME3 by duplicating my previousmale charachters and subjecting them to different decision routes.

I have planned this out very well... I thought.

Now I am very afraid. I am afraid that 4 of the biggest decisions that I made in ME1 will have absolutely no effect on ME3, and that'd make me feel ripped-off and cheated. These four crucial decisions are:

1. Preservation/extinction of the Rachni.

2. Preservation/termination of Wrex.

3. Preservation/termination of the Council.

4. Preservation of Ashley/Kaiden.

(Assignment of Anderson/Udina to the council is actually a ME2 decision, so it's not listed here)

Now that ME is going to the PS3, and there is no way that PS3 owners could affect the 4 crucial decisions I listed, I can only assume that you will negate the ramifications of these crucial decisions in order to placate the PS3 market.

For instance, you *SPECIFICALLY STATED* IN ME2 that the ME1 decision involving the Rachni *WILL HAVE* a major impact in ME3 based on the dialogue on Illium with the woman who was stranded and then saved by the Queen. I don't see how PS3 owners could possibly influence the existence or extinction of the Rachni.

I'm afraid that this point will become moot in ME3; I would consider mooting this decision this to be a form of fraud. The same high-degree of importance belongs with how the Krogan deal with tradition vs. breeding/rebuilding under Wrex's governance or not, the species-makeup of the council and their involvement with an Earth Invasion, and which alliance soldier survived to finally play a follow-up role in the series.

Please don't render my ME1 playthroughs as moot, for I would be very disappointed and certainly never purchase a Bioware game series ever again.

Erm... if you bothered to actually read up on the PS3 version of ME2 you'd know they are getting a comic which will give them at least 6 choices (more if you count sex/background/profile) based on things that occur in Mass Effect.

The 4 points you've raised are the most key ones everyone is assuming are in that comic.

Edit: It's kind of funny how out of all the topics you didn't post that 'open letter' you didn't put it in the one where the link to the podcast about ME2 going to PS3 was. Because if you'd bothered listening to that podcast you'd already know what I've just stated in my post.

Personally i think this discussion in very dumb. I`ve playd ME1 on my PC and got the whole experience, now i also have ME2 coming to my PS3 so thats awsome. So 4 those who are thinking of buying the game without playing ME1 are just plain dumb its like watching a chapter in the middle of a moovie.

I think that the gays who get mass effect 2 just because it looks cool not caring about the story are just a bunch of F***Faces that dont know ****. And noone is that dumb!

They get a prequel comic that has a "the story so far" type of thing, so although they dont get the entire experience, they get the main story of it.

MANGEO HIMSELF SAY'S!!!

This is very very very BAD news for ME3 & true MASS EFFECT fans!!!

They will obviously expand the demographic a 2nd dastardly time, first

for gears of war fans & 2nd for PS3 owners Makeing it the first halfway decent game

for the ps3 and tearing out all of the"RPG" elements that are actualy left after ME2,spitting in the

faces of the true fans,THE MASS EFFECT 1 FANS !!! .Casey hudson is a genious but a sellout.

Personaly im realy a Drew Karpyshyn fan not a bioware fan and im sure im not alone!!!

But even after all this im still a MASS EFFECT lover none the less & continue to

hold out excitement & hope for ME3!!!

Don't want to be a douche, but you're really weird guy... Let people think what they want about this series. You sound too much a preacher to my tastes.
