No, but I don't think that matters, honestly. ME2 is a standalone game anyway...this port to PS3 will prove that. Even if they create a module where these users can make choices, it would still be kind of pointless as the PS3 players lack the context in which to make these decisions...they'd be blind guesses for the most part. Now, if you are thinking the module would me more complex than that, I still doubt they would take the time to develop something like this for only PS3 users.
To each their own, I guess. I happen to believe that it will be significantly more expansive and substantial than a simple module that allows the player to merely select the choices, and will actually be a condensed version of the major plot worlds from ME1 that will also serve to provide the context for these choices, and allow players to consider their decisions accordingly. I happen to believe that something like that is not too farfetched.

For all of you people who are so enraged that Mass Effect is going to PS3, were you this enraged when the announcement came out that Mass Effect 1 was coming out for PC?
This fanboy bull **** has got to end. This is one reason why it is so hard for people to look at video games as anything but children wasting their time. So Mass Effect 2 and 3 are going to PS3. So what. BioWare has a proven track record that they know what they are doing.
Furthermore, we do not know any details at the moment. All we know is that the game will be on the PS3. There has been no mention of PS3 exclusive content, onl bonus content, which you have to think is the DLC up to this point.
As for being pissed that people may get the DLC for free that you paid for.....uuhhh...that is exactly what happens when a Game Of The Year edition comes out. Are you that enraged when that happens? Or are you so entrenched into this fanboy bull **** that you forget that we are all here to have fun with a video game.
Am I fanboy? No. Will I be annoyed when the inital release of the PS3 version gets all the free DLC? Yes.
Is it too difficult to understand that the GoTY version comes out after the inital release on the console in question? This is the initial release on the console in question (PS3) so there's a massive difference.
So if they release Uncharted 2 with all the DLC ( I have no idea if there is any) to 360 owners with no surcharge, would the PS3 owners be annoyed? Of course.

Relax, you big babies... This bonus content will probably just be all the DLC Armor, Making of video, and DLC Side Missions.
Are you one of those "PS3 for teh rulz!!11!" people? Honestly.
We on the 360 and PC had to pay for the DLC armor and side missions. So excuse us for feeling annoyed when the PS3 owners get it for free.
so your one of those whot cry every time a Game of the year edition comes out? because normaly they bring the DLC for free

But you got it first, and about seven months before PlayStation 3 users get it, it's like buying a game new and then someone else buying it used for a lower price.Unit-Alpha wrote...

All this means is more people get to enjoy ME. Isn't that what its all about?
No, now i have to listen to months of PS3 fanboy crowing over it, online and on my PSN, and insisting not having ME1 won't hinder the experience.
Damn it bioware, how could you do this to me, personally.

^That's funny. I sure as hell don't. None of the previous choices from ME or ME2 are going to matter much. I think BW bit off more than they can chew for all possible implications in ME3. I am way too cynical. However, I was feeling that after I finished ME2 long before the PS3 announcement (which I do completely support).silverhammer08 wrote...

So, erm,I assume this means that characters who may be dead in ME1 will have to have very minor roles in the third game, as to not complicate it for sony players...
If that is right, fans of those characters may not be happy.
Uh YEAH!!!
This has been a huge concern for many of us for a long time now.
Maybe if we keep mentioning this Bioware we realise how much of a huge issue this is for us and actually respond... Fingers crossed!

Well, why go to all that trouble when you can just give them the default stuff? They really won't care anyways.
Plus, I guess the problem with porting ME1 over was that Microsoft owns that content....they may not be able to create a condensed module of ME1 due to copyright issues.

Blue Ray is a more robust medium. Plain and simple, it can store more info than DVD. That and that the game is being released almost an entire year later on the PS3 mean it almost has to come with more content than the XBOX release. Likely the additional content will include some or all of the pay DLC previously released on XBL. That could be seen as a bit of a betrayal by the faithful XBOX owners, but again this game has been available much longer for them than the faithful PS3 owners, so there must be an incentive to purchase.
Hopefully the exclusive content won't include any exclusive mission based content. If so, even that could be remedied by releasing it on XBL...free. Then 'exclusive' part could only mean that instead of downloadable, the content is exclusively native to the PS3's Blue Ray disc. Sort of how the Cerberus network is exclusive to new purchases of ME2, but still available to download on XBL. That scenario means that the content will be released on XBL after the game is released on PS3. Which is good in my opinion because it means there is more DLC coming after LotSB.
The exclusive content could also be a stop gap for the purpose of smoothing over the lack of availablity to play ME1 on PS3. It has been exhaustively pointed out that many of the decisions made in ME1 affect how ME2 unfolds. It could come down to a more exhaustive character creator (as difficult as that is to imagine) to include some of the storyline and import some of those decisions with out playing the game. Also the strength of the ME1 character carries over to ME2 somewhat. I could be that something like Pinnicale Station is included to bolster Shepard's stats. The least likely (but very feasable considering the Blue Ray medium) make up of the content is ME1 itself. Couldn't think of a better way to move units than a 'two for'. Though the graphical leap from ME1 to ME2 could leave the graphic spoiled, gameplay deprived (sorry it's true) PS3 owners confused or unenthusiatic.
Personally, the main reason I don't own a PS3, now that the price is manageable, is because I completely loathe the controller. I hope the manner that the additional content is handled does not alienate those of us that do not own a PS3. I doubt it though. Bioware is obviously personned with very competent and thoughtful staff, so I'm sure however this is handled will be satifactory to both exclusive owners of PS3 and XBOX360.
It's probably a retelling of Mass Effect Galaxy or a set of prologue missions involving characters on the ME universe. Liara, Ash(or Kaiden), Garrus, and Tali that will go over the events and decisions of ME1 that could play a crucial roll in ME3.
I don't have a smartphone (yeah, I know, I'm old) so I had no access to ME Galaxy. I sorely want to play that content, though. If ME Galaxy is what the additional content consists of and it's available on PS3, but notXBLI'll be disappointed. Not a deal-breaker, though. Also, did Bioware say that the content was exlusive or that it was only additional content?

ME3 is the important thing, and Bioware should be working in it to made the better game in this saga.

Im with jlb on this, no matter how they port it the weight of the decisions like the Rachni Queen, saving Ash or Kaiden, Saving the Council, will have no weight to them. They wont really care too much. As a result this is going to force less of a roll for our ME1 characters for ME3. How can you have Ash as a squadmate and you talk to her like best buds if its going to leave tens of thousands of PS3 players confused.

That's true, but PS3 owners had plenty of exclusives to fill the void. Do I get Uncharted or anything else? No.
Bioware doesn't need to give them additional content because they got it late. PS3 owners should just be satisfied with getting the main game. If I only got Uncharted without bonus content, I would be incredibly happy.

Lol, save your bitterness, Ratzerman. I've always been concerned for the treatment of ME1 and those characters' significance, and have always empathized with those who loved Liara, Wrex, Ash/Kaidan. I may have been fortunate in ME2, but I'm under no illusions...I know ME3 could very well pull the same stunts. That said, I still hope for a resolution in ME3 that satisfies most, if not all, parties.

Hmmm, I'm not familiar with the exact nature of the contract which binds ME1 to Microsoft systems, and prevents it's release on other platforms. Surely the actual source material, meaning the story, characters, dialogue etc. is not limited to the 360 and the PC?

No, but you're all over-reacting... PS3 isn't even getting the first game, yet all everyone here is doing is ****ing about how Bioware betrayed you. Get over it, it's a business, and Bioware is trying to get as many sales out of the game as possible. The 360/PC got to have ME2 as an exclusive for almost a whole year, so the PS3 crowd is entitled to some freebies.
I already own the game for both Xbox 360 & PC, and I've purchased all the DLC, yet I couldn't be more pleased with this announcement. Now when I buy the PS3 Version, I don't have to pay for everything a 2nd time, and PS3 Exclusive Owners get to experience an excellent game.
Seriously, Console Fanboyism is so 90's... Hasn't anyone aged beyond 8 here?
"Genesis >>> SNES!11"
Seriously, you're all acting like a bunch of spoiled children and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

"lol" I just love the maturity of the people on these forums.
No, I am not. Why, you ask? Well, because the GoTY version is meant to act as a secondary version for those who didn't purchase the inital game or just are buying it again to pick up all the DCL at once.
The PS3 release is the first release on that console. It doesn't need a GoTY release as it's first release. It's insulting.

As I recall... Dragon Age took an extra year to port to the consoles. The PS3 is known for being difficult to develop on. I'm not saying one year to port... I'm saying an extra year to port ME2 AND develop ME3. I don't care if they get the bonus content (current DLC). I have a job and paying $20 for microsoft points isn't an issue. I'm conserned that the paragon decisions I made in ME1 are going to be obsolete.... because that would negate ME1. I have both consoles... so I'm not a fanboy.
1) Mass Effect runs on a (modded) Unreal Engine, which is already a multiplatform engine (PC, X360 and PS3)
2) There's bits of data in the PC ME2 files that suggest there was a working PS3 version back when the PC version was released (so the port could have been done six months ago, but is delayed due to legal reasons)
3) considering the differences between the PC and console versions of DAO, which are obviously not present between, say, the PC and X360 versions of ME2, bad example
4) I'm sure Bioware has considered that PS3 players can't have access to ME1. In fact, they might have considered, that not all PC/X360 latecomers want to hammer through the full ME1 (a rather different game, let's be honest) to get variations in their ME2 experience. Solution? Possible XBLA/PSN/etc Minigame, ~5 hours, consisting of basically a ME1 speed run... Among other alternatives.

If you wanted the DLC on the cheap, you should have waited until it inevitably shows up on sale. PS3 owners were just forced to wait awhile. I see no reason NOT to give them a "Game of the Year" Edition with everything included. Hell, bundle ME1 in too.
