A few things:

1) Yay for PS3 owners! They get to play one of the best games this year! This just means more money for Bioware to develop more content and games for all of us, and this is a good good thing.

2) Bioware, are you going to release something to allow players to generate a mass effect 1 save? And could you also release it for the 360?

3) What will the bonus content be? Will it be exclusive? If so, could you not make it exclusive? I'm all for PS3 players getting some if not all of the content that has already been released bundled with the game, but everyone should be able to enjoy the full mass effect experience.

4) As for everyone ****ing about betrayal: how does this take away from your experience at all?

The other route is if 360 gets to have their choices pay off,but the Sony guys have a stripped down experience, but that would suck for my ps3 buddies. Hopefully Bioware can navigate the problem (I have total faith) and please both sides equally. Hopefully MS stop aching and get ME released with ME2 on PS3, even hell AS A FREE EXTRA, that would be sweet.

Relax, you big babies... This bonus content will probably just be all the DLC Armor, Making of video, and DLC Side Missions.

Are you one of those "PS3 for teh rulz!!11!" people? Honestly.

We on the 360 and PC had to pay for the DLC armor and side missions. So excuse us for feeling annoyed when the PS3 owners get it for free.

No, but you're all over-reacting... PS3 isn't even getting the first game, yet all everyone here is doing is ****ing about how Bioware betrayed you. Get over it, it's a business, and Bioware is trying to get as many sales out of the game as possible. The 360/PC got to have ME2 as an exclusive for almost a whole year, so the PS3 crowd is entitled to some freebies.

I already own the game for both Xbox 360 & PC, and I've purchased all the DLC, yet I couldn't be more pleased with this announcement. Now when I buy the PS3 Version, I don't have to pay for everything a 2nd time, and PS3 Exclusive Owners get to experience an excellent game.

Seriously, Console Fanboyism is so 90's... Hasn't anyone aged beyond 8 here?
"Genesis >>> SNES!11"

Seriously, you're all acting like a bunch of spoiled children and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

What happens if Tali doesn't come back in ME3? I'm sure you will yell and scream at Bioware for this. But at this point, you will be acting entitled, by your definition. I hate when people with such a limited capacity for thought just slap the "entitled" tag on anyone with feels cheated out of something.

So when Tali doesn't return, can I reply to your post protesting it with "Seriously, you're all acting like a bunch of spoiled children and you should be ashamed of yourselves,"?

Actually, I wouldn't give a damn... I like Tali, but if Bioware never intended her to be in ME3, then I'd rather they leave her out and have her take a backseat rather than shoehorn her.

But then again, I'm not perpetually 8 years old mentally, so I can accept Bioware's decisions rather that throw a tantrum when they do something I don't like.

Wild accusations and prophetic exclaimations mean nothing.

We do not know if ME1 will be PS3-ified.

We do not know what this "extra content" is.

We do not know if it will have any impact on ME3.

We don't know anything.

PS3 crowd aren't entitled to jack.  It's the 360 that made ME2 possible.  Had Mass Effect flopped on 360 do you think there would even be a ME2?  Hell no, it would have gone the way of Too Human

Loyalty ain't what it was anymore.

Simply because it was succesful on the 360 means it's a logical decision to release the franchise (minus 1) on the PS3. EA is a company, they're doing to most logical thing. Just consider the 360 version as a first step to making a big franchise and the PS3 release a next big step in expanding it.

What's this nonsense about loyalty? We're talking about something as trivial as a video game console. This is not a war. You're way too irrational about this.

Wow, man, that is a relief. I was getting really tired of telling people with other consoles(PS3): how great this game was. Now I'm so glad you(PS3 owners) are going to have a chance to enjoy it too. And I'll tell you another thing: I'm going to be really excited to see the differences in the two versions.

I figure that "bonus content" might just be an extra dose of exposition, you know, for people who didn't play ME1 and have no way of importing a save. Or it could be that quiz that was supposed to take place during that first shuttle ride with Miranda and Jacob, where you were going to be able to "alter history."

The way I see it is: the PS3 owners, should get some bonus content, since without haveing played ME1, they will be missing out on quite a bit of content. This just adds more incentive for them to buy it. Fanboys won't buy it unless they feel it is a supirior version, than that of their rivals.

Blk_Mage_Ctype, I have aged past 8, in this regard, I have never understood this rabbid fanboyism.

It like getting one group of builders to build your house than slapping them in the face and giving the plans to another group with free materials.

Or something.

Microsoft and 360 owners made the ME franchise successful.  Never forget.  BioWare seems to have.

What happened to the 1000 varying choices, surely a lot will be left null and void, what about the Rachni Queen and Wrex, will they be reduced to cameo's again due to Sony players not having them. I have no problem with Sony getting ME, I'm concerned about the fact that choices from ME1 will most likely mean nothing.

I feel the same way.

If Bio could make a ME1 condensed speedrun on the ME2 engine for the *current* platforms, I'd buy it as DLC.

Microsoft has some owndership (not sure of the degree) of mass effect 1, i can pretty much guarentee ME1 will never be on ps3, extra content would proberly (as speculated) be some brief bit at the beginning to cover the ME1 choices (path of least resistence and thus the most likely)

If it weren't Bioware i might be more alarmed, but all things considered i trust they'll have this covered, most we'll miss out on is the actual ME1 experience, not the choices i suspect

Also hopefully we get some of that DLC piled on in disc, nice thing bout blue ray is it holds damn near infinite space, no such thing as multi disc games on ps3 (not counting collections, which are diffrent obviously) which i'm hope'n means the PS3 version will allow us to gather party members in any order, the unused dialouge is in the actual game anyway

I have a PS3, and if it includes all the dlc on the disc including Lair of the Shadow Broker, I might be temped to buy another copy or even the Collector's edition if the price is right...

The thing is though, what sucks most of all is that PS3 users will NEVER get to meet Wrex, or  save the Citadel Council which can only lead to their complete marginalization in OUR games.

Good point.  I wonder if the game will change somewhat in the PS3 version to compensate for that.  Such as if choosing your character there are extra options such as saving the Council, not killing Wrex, etc.  Plus I'm sure this won't impact ME3 since if someone had played ME2 standalone you can import that Shepard to ME3.  Better for Bioware in the long run as now ME3 can be a simultaneous release to Xbox, PC, and PS3 and players can either import characters that have been through ME1 and ME2 (Xbox, PC), or just ME2 (Xbox, PC, PS3).

I too can understand the concern of Xbox loyalists about this.  But I don't think Bioware is going to just flat out abandon the Xbox and PC players just to appease PS3 players.  I have been looking for an excuse to buy a PS3.  This just may be it so I can see the difference.  And hey if this leads to Sony letting other PS3 exclusive games hit Xbox, I'm all for it.

That's just an assumption though.

Bioware have planned this from the beggining.. they aren't going to suddenly change the whole story because they are developing for the PS3 now.

Most of the 'choices' from the first game were reduced to cameo's in the second one anyway.

You are correct but Bioware should release a statement in the next 24hours confirming whether or not this will have any effect. Even if it is a simple as "all choice from ME1 and ME2 will have consequences in ME3 and that no single console will receive any exclusive content."

Is that the best insult you can come up with? LMAO

And no, if I were a PS3 Fanboy, then I wouldn't own an Xbox 360 & a Wii.

However, in calling PS3 "Gaystation" I think it's quite clear who the Fanboy is here...

Regarding how ME1 will affect ME3 for platforms that had ME1 available, think of it like this: Each game the in series can be a starting point. When ME3 comes out, you will have the option to start at 1, 2 or 3. Therefore, story-wise, Bioware has to develop it with that in mind, just as they did with ME2; starting with the second of the series essentially removes as much ME1-specific content as they felt they could without completely confounding the progression of the story. This is part of why returning characters were downplayed and past storylines were accounted for in a somewhat shallow fashion. However, there is a key difference with ME3: it is final story in the trilogy. Assuming they don't plan to allow ME3 to import into some future Mass Effect universe game (and even if they do it could be done in a very different manner), they have the freedom to do far more with the story without concern of how to conclude it later. In my mind, this says that they will include a greater amount of content based on past decisions while also include content based on NO past decisions. Multiple story arcs and endings seems a lot more likely in ME3 than it feasibly could have been in the previous games. That is why I do not equate the release of ME2 on PS3 to an inevitable diminshment of the impact decisions from the previous installments have.

I'm not touching all the concerns about content exclusivity, "bonus content," or the perceived betrayal some feel. Fin. :)

I'm a PC gamer so I don't really care/follow any of the console battling out there. But i'd get angry if someone got for free the same stuff I had to pay with my money.

I'm not sure if this is the case wit PS3 bonus conent. But if that was it, i'd be angry at Sony/Bioware/EA/whoever made the decission because it feels like they are robbing you. Obviously.

It's just a money thing. Nobody likes when they toy with their money... game or not. If you are in a restaurant, eating your menu and you see that the waitress is giving food for free that you previously paid the least you can do is ask her why.

I chose to buy the DLC because i like their game and i like to support them so they keep on making cool games. But if I knew that other people would be getting this same stuff for free, well what can i say... the internet is full of sites to download this content ilegally.

Good luck fighting piracy with this corporate mentality.

Anyways, If i am mistaken and this is just my wild imagination then I apologize. :)

Pd. Another thing that seems a bit funny is the fact that you release only 1 of 2 games for the PS3. I mean, makes no sense. You know you'll have these problems at some point because the PS3 fan base is missing out a whole game. Sooo if i was Bioware/EA... i'd wait until I could launch both games for the ps3 then none of this nerdrage would happen.

I can assure you, they will.

They will not get rid of a whole story arc because of this.
Nothing will change.
