this is what I hear.....a bunch of xbox fanatics hating on the fact that mass effect 2 is going to a system is should have been on to begin with. quite frankly, I don't blame bioware for making this decision, it'll make them more money and so what about additional dlc, ps3 discs hold up to 500gb worth of space, do you know how much 360 discs hold? quite frankly if you think about it, they can do 50x more on the ps3 with just 1 disc than they can on the 360 is 3 or more discs. I'm just happy cause now I no longer have a reason to buy a 360 outside of halo which is now all they have and lets be real../.....NOBODY PLAYS GEARS OF WAR ANYMORE, I KNOW CAUSE I WORK FOR GAMESTOP!!!!!!!!

People keep saying this, but why should Microsoft "stop being jerks"? Empire Strikes Back is widely considered the best Star Wars movie, whereas it seems people enjoyed Mass Effect 1 way more than 2.

It all makes sense why BioWare from the get-go was saying ME2 is a stand alone game.  When they were saying "new" gamers, they have always meant PS3 owners.  It just makes more sense now.

No, but you're all over-reacting... PS3 isn't even getting the first game, yet all everyone here is doing is ****ing about how Bioware betrayed you. Get over it, it's a business, and Bioware is trying to get as many sales out of the game as possible. The 360/PC got to have ME2 as an exclusive for almost a whole year, so the PS3 crowd is entitled to some freebies.

I already own the game for both Xbox 360 & PC, and I've purchased all the DLC, yet I couldn't be more pleased with this announcement. Now when I buy the PS3 Version, I don't have to pay for everything a 2nd time, and PS3 Exclusive Owners get to experience an excellent game.

PS3 crowd aren't entitled to jack.  It's the 360 that made ME2 possible.  Had Mass Effect flopped on 360 do you think there would even be a ME2?  Hell no, it would have gone the way of Too Human.

Simply because it was succesful on the 360 means it's a logical decision to release the franchise (minus 1) on the PS3. EA is a company, they're doing to most logical thing. Just consider the 360 version as a first step to making a big franchise and the PS3 release a next big step in expanding it. What's this nonsense about loyalty? We're talking about something as trivial as a video game console. You're way too irrational about this.

It like getting one group of builders to build your house than slapping them in the face and giving the plans to another group with free materials.

Microsoft and 360 owners made the ME franchise successful.  Never forget.  BioWare seems to have.

You fail to give me a reason why Mass Effect's success on the Xbox 360 should mean that a PS3 version should not be made. Then you say Bioware has forgotten the Xbox 360 made Mass Effect big. Of course they haven't forgotten. That's exactly the reason why they're releasing it on the PS3, to expand on that success. It makes perfect sense and it's beneficial for both the company and the fans. Those who don't have a PS3 and prefer an Xbox 360 or a PC lose nothing. It seems like you are upset because others can enjoy a game on their console of choice and that's extremely irrational and selfish.

I have an Xbox 360 and a gaming PC but I'm not gonna be a dick about it. I can still play the game, I will get the next sequel on launch and I will discuss the game's features and story with Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers and I won't even care what platform they played it on. Am I weird because I'm not as intolerant as the fanboys?

I hope not either... but it makes sense.  When they show us the "review" of our decisions at the beginning of ME2, didn't it look like an interface where you can select and change it?  Well, it will be for PS3 owners, I'm sure of it.

Again, wondering what the devs think when they see reactions like these, I'd hate to be a developer if the fanbase is this fickle, I have total faith in Bioware to create a great ps3 port without compromising the story for 360 players in ME3. I had doubts but this is Bioware, and I'm not going to throw a tantrum over this. Thank you for you're well thought out opinions.

I can only imagine that they won't play a very big role now, because the experience has to be the same for everyone, every platform. PS3 users will never even meet Wrex for example because the "canon" has him dead. hmpf. Of course the ME1 LIs won't be availlable for PS3 users aswell.

I think you're a bit off on your numbers, Blu-Ray capacity is not 500GB, a BD with multiple layers may cap at like 100+ but not 500GB dude. But what would I know I dont work for Gamestop lol

Did you get angry when Oblivion or Morrowind or Call Of Duty all released their game of the year versions aswell?

Face it, PS3 owners need incentive to buy this after waiting so long.

No, they will still buy it without the additional content. If they had the means to buy it on the 360 or PC, they would already have done so, not wait until the PS3 version is announced to take an interest in purchasing it.

Let's look at these:

Well, because, A: it is technically a new release. B: (See above.)

Arkham Asylum was a one off. Microsoft seem to put up the money for (limited time) exclusivity rights when it comes to top titles, like Call of Duty.



My only concern is that the "hours of bonus content" will include something not available on the 360. Depending on how substantial that is, i will be annoyed. Though they can have all the DLC for free as far as i'm concerned.

Whoa whoa whoa...I can tell you're excited but spreading lies is not cool. 50GB is the max a BR disc can accommodate currently.

And...I couldn't care less if it is added to another platform. That's pretty nice to be spread to a larger audience when you get right down to it. However, I do wonder if some choices we had in one will be absent? Like the most important one yet: does Conrad make a cameo? y'know, one could also compare this to the metal gear series, we wanted mass effect 2 much like you wanted mgs4, in the end both companies did the profitible thing and went multi platform and thus metal gear rising on 360 and mass effect 2 on ps3, same goes for final fantasy 13 (horrible, horrible game, almost as bad as FF8)



Thus going back to my earliar point of this generation of console wars is a complete farce, this is quickly boiling down to a DLC proxy battle to milk more money out of ignorant fanboys

No, PS3 owners will still buy the game without the first part. Almost anyone interested in this game as an arching storyline would have purchased it for the PC or 360. The whole "Import your character" feature is not one PS3-exclusive users are used to. They will buy the game thinking it's stand alone, no matter what.

And the post you quoted just shows what happens when people have no Idea about the technology a certain system employs... It would be like calling the PS3 a Mac-Clone, just because it is using a modified IBM PowerPC G5 Processor (yes, the Cell is a derivative of that one).

Remember Tales of Vesperia or the Ninja Gaiden games? They were released first on 360 and later on PS3 with exclusive content. Isn't that some requirement Sony forces on thirdparty games? To have exclusive content when the game is released on PS3 later?

BioWare would seriously screw over their 360/PC fans if they did something like this.
