mass effect 1 was indeed published by microsoft ...for the 360, for the pc version however, the publisher i believe was EA so it's highly possible to see ME1 on ps3 as well

true true ME1 360 was done by MC but PC EA has the name o.o

It has been said, MANY TIMES NOW, the box says EA AND MS. Are you guys just purposly ignoring this?

Gamers who already played ME1 on the pc or xbox AND own a PS3 will buy this. But seriously, i don't know anyone who owns a ps3, an xbox and pc all together. Not to mention that PS3 games are so expensive.

wait...wait...wait....PS3 & 360 games cost the same amount and pc is $10 less (less you're just purate'n them) so point was what again?

Point is that people who are totally new to mass effect and own a ps3 won't buy the game because it's missing the first part.

People who played mass effect 1 on xbox or pc and own mass effect 2 for pc or xbox won't buy the game because finding someone who OWNS all 2 consoles and a PC is hard to find and because they already have the xbox version and the pc version of mass effect so unless they are super rich or very bored i doubt they will buy it.

reasoning behind one of these persons: "oh yes, mass effect 2 for the ps3. I'm going to buy it just so I can experience the touch of the ps3 controlers while i play mass effect despite the fact that i already own both games for xbox and pc."

Perhaps I'm just crazy and what i see as totally normal/common sense is just a delusion.

im not super rich and i own Dragon age origins for 360, ps3, PC also awakening and not only that but the DLC for each system and i just got my self DAO for mac and the DLC that came out

i also own ME 1 and 2 for 360 and PC whit all the DLC and def getting it for ps3

why you may ask yourself because i like the games and i want to experience the different thing each system gives me

:o huh?...... you may the one and only one from the entire world.......

I'd like for someone to explain to me how the PS3 release is going to 'water down' ME3 at all?

Because it may render most of the choices and decisions made in ME1 redundant, due to the fact that ME1 is not available to PS3 players.

At first I worried about the whole "default" issue meaning, say, PS3 owners may not get Wrex, or have no say about virmire, but the more I used my noggin I realised there are ways around it, say having to relive past events or simply choosing what the canon is at the start.

Bioware wouldn't water down ME3 for loyal fans just due to a port, I find the lack of faith on this thread disturbing.

That is true, but the PC version was for the most part a port of the 360 version of ME1's software, which I'm pretty sure EA had to get approval from MS to bring it to PC. Story, art, etc, EA and BW own the rights to that, so like I said earlier in a post that probably just got skimmed over or had nothing for anyone to scream about, I pasted a bit from the mass effect home page, Coming in January of 2011 in beautiful Blu-ray, Mass Effect 2 PS3 will
feature hours of bonus content making it the perfect entry point to the
franchise. How people got the words "exclusive" and "betrayed" from anything that's been said I dont know.

So if the story of Mass Effect 1 is going to be on PS3 it will likely be in the form of a prologue, like core elements(recreated of course because they cant use any part of the ME1 360/PC) from ME1 for the start of ME2:Genesis for PS3.

True dat. But my faith in them not giving PS3 users exclusive content not so much.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, how about you calm down and wait for the facts, instead of assuming?

No, but I don't think that matters, honestly.  ME2 is a standalone game anyway...t

This has to be the most ignorant post I have read yet. It is clear you have no concept as to just what ME and ME2 mean together. Anyone that thinks ME2 is stand alone is either stupid or just clueless.

Mass Effect 3 story was written long before any of this happened. I don't think that's going to have any impact on the quality of the game.

PS3 exclusive stuff is likely, given that the game will be a year old and possibly full price when it come to Sony, they will need an incentive. BONUS: This exclusive content should involve choices from ME1 for newbies

Well they should tell us about it then instead of just going.
"Heres a  trailer for ME2 on ps3. BYE (insert smiley here)"

They left us with nothing but a million qiestions. -

Missing ME1 is bad news whichever way you cut it. BioWare should release both.

I can understand the concern, but given Bioware's track record, I have faith in them - I doubt they're going to alienate a huge proportion of their fanbase due to the release on another console. There's still hope :]

I have to ask you people that keep saying "Why are you pissed it's going to be on PS3?" why do you keep asking it? Yeah there are some that are stupid fanboys that are against it, but myself and THE MAJORITY are upset because no one from bioware has come in to tell us:

1. Will ME1's choices no longer matter because of this news

2. Just what exactly is the free dlc the PS3 version will get

I am happy the PS3 is getting the game, but I want to know how this will change for PC and 360 gamers. Stop telling us that we are <insert insult here> and read what the hell we are saying.

A major ending to DAO was made null with awakenings. It's not unheard of for them to make choices like this.

Doesnt mater if the story was written before., Has nothing to do with it. The story is a path. Its the opsticals along the path that is the issue

I told you so.

Of course, the worst outcome would be if because PS3 players don't get to make ME1 choices, those decisions don't matter in ME3.

My worst fears as well.

Its virtually guarenteed.   For example; The Rachni Queen at the time was such a massive decision which would play on the future games.  Even during ME2 with the talk  (or no talk) with the Asari made me think something big would happen.  Now tens of thousands of players wont have made a decision about it or even care because they havent been in that situation.  What was once a major plot device will now be brushed aside.

Yea, I never really thought about this, but this is a good point... UNLESS they make decisions an OPTION at the beginning of the game, sort of how they did with us on whether or not we chose UDINA or Anderson as council member at the beginning of ME2

They could do, but as the player hasnt played the game they wont know the weight of that decision.  Or any decision from ME for that matter.  Therefore there is no point even giving them the option as they wont understand its significance.

Every major plot devices, companions, decisions will have to be watered down or scraped for ME3.  Simply because the new PS3 crowd wont know a thing about it.    Heavily including them will leave those thousands of players confused.

SOLUTION: If BioWare can't for whatever reason ship the original Mass Effect on PS3; then all they have to do is let PS3 players import ME PC saves into ME2 for PS3 and they can leave it as it is, and our choices don't get gimped!

My two cents? I don't care if Mass Effect is released on the PS3. I do care however, if this means that our decisions from ME1 will be completely null.

It will. Bioware showed in ME2 that our decisions meant almost nothing. Therefore, adding a PS3 ME2 means that any effects of decisions in ME1 in the PC and 360 versions will mean almost nothing, because BW is not willing to do additional work.

Yep, looks like Ash/Kaiden are not coming back. Ever. Thanks a ton, Bioware.

Problem with that is not all PS3 owners will have the pc version. Also it makes no sense whatsoever to buy the PS3 version if you do have the pc with all choices/options already at hand.
