I have to ask you people that keep saying "Why are you pissed it's going to be on PS3?" why do you keep asking it? Yeah there are some that are stupid fanboys that are against it, but myself and THE MAJORITY are upset because no one from bioware has come in to tell us:

1. Will ME1's choices no longer matter because of this news
2. Just what exactly is the free dlc the PS3 version will get

I am happy the PS3 is getting the game, but I want to know how this will change for PC and 360 gamers. Stop telling us that we are and read what the hell we are saying.

Your 1. is extremely valid and understandable, but where has it been said if anywhere reliable that there is "free DLC" for the PS3 version.

Chris never said "free dlc".
He said Hours of Bonus Content, to get down to it on http://masseffect.bioware.com/ halfway down:
Coming in January of 2011 in beautiful Blu-ray, Mass Effect 2 PS3 will
feature hours of bonus content making it the perfect entry point to the
franchise.

SOLUTION: If BioWare can't for whatever reason ship the original Mass Effect on PS3; then all they have to do is let PS3 players import ME PC saves into ME2 for PS3 and they can leave it as it is, and our choices don't get gimped!

This choice I would actually support, seeing as ME1 costs only about 10-20 Euros here in Germany and the PS3 has USB Ports...

Is that possible?,I'm no tech head, but if it is, then it's pretty much going to be a possibility, and put the "neglecting ME1" stuff to bed.

No, but I don't think that matters, honestly.  ME2 is a standalone game anyway...t

This has to be the most ignorant post I have read yet. It is clear you have no concept as to just what ME and ME2 mean together. Anyone that thinks ME2 is stand alone is either stupid or just clueless.

wait...wait...wait....PS3 & 360 games cost the same amount and pc is $10 less (less you're just purate'n them) so point was what again?

Point is that people who are totally new to mass effect and own a ps3 won't buy the game because it's missing the first part.

People who played mass effect 1 on xbox or pc and own mass effect 2 for pc or xbox won't buy the game because finding someone who OWNS all 2 consoles and a PC is hard to find and because they already have the xbox version and the pc version of mass effect so unless they are super rich or very bored i doubt they will buy it.

reasoning behind one of these persons: "oh yes, mass effect 2 for the ps3. I'm going to buy it just so I can experience the touch of the ps3 controlers while i play mass effect despite the fact that i already own both games for xbox and pc."

Perhaps I'm just crazy and what i see as totally normal/common sense is just a delusion.

Hard? well...... I think it is very hard (at least among my friends).......

Like I said there is a lot of room for interpretation, and me just being an average guy I can only "assume" what is meant by the "hours of bonus content making it the perfect ENTRY point to the franchise" statement.

It's the marketing team having the balls to say what the devs don't.....

Nothing that happened in ME1 matters. Fans who preferred that game can take a hike.

I see them doing this in regards to your decisions and main Story in ME1.

When Shepards on the operating table, they'll have him do some flashbacks on key points in his life. (I.E the main plot points and you're decision of Mass Effect condensed) You'll be able to play through some of them and the important parts in this 2-3Hr Flashback. Shepard wakes up and you begin Mass Effect 2

(Also I want Kasumi as a Romance option PLEASE!)

im not super rich and i own Dragon age origins for 360, ps3, PC also awakening and not only that but the DLC for each system and i just got my self DAO for mac and the DLC that came out

i also own ME 1 and 2 for 360 and PC whit all the DLC and def getting it for ps3

why you may ask yourself because i like the games and i want to experience the different thing each system gives me

:o huh?...... you may the one and only one from the entire world.......

not really i work at a gamestop and 10 out of 13 ppl that buys ME or DAO have them for the other system AT least in my district dunno about others

If really is that the case..... those people must have alot of money to waste, according to my opinion.....

again is not really about the money i know many of them the game is good and each system does give you something different is as simple as that that's what make sit wort it getting it on other systems.

I'm a PC gamer so I don't really care/follow any of the console battling out there. But i'd get angry if someone got for free the same stuff I had to pay with my money.

I'm not sure if this is the case wit PS3 bonus conent. But if that was it, i'd be angry at Sony/Bioware/EA/whoever made the decission because it feels like they are robbing you. Obviously.
It's just a money thing. Nobody likes when they toy with their money... game or not. If you are in a restaurant, eating your menu and you see that the waitress is giving food for free that you previously paid the least you can do is ask her why.

I chose to buy the DLC because i like their game and i like to support them so they keep on making cool games. But if I knew that other people would be getting this same stuff for free, well what can i say... the internet is full of sites to download this content ilegally.

Good luck fighting piracy with this corporate mentality.

Anyways, If i am mistaken and this is just my wild imagination then I apologize. :)

Pd. Another thing that seems a bit funny is the fact that you release only 1 of 2 games for the PS3. I mean, makes no sense. You know you'll have these problems at some point because the PS3 fan base is missing out a whole game. Sooo if i was Bioware/EA... i'd wait until I could launch both games for the ps3 then none of this nerdrage would happen.

Did you get angry when Oblivion or Morrowind or Call Of Duty all released their game of the year versions aswell?

Face it, PS3 owners need incentive to buy this after waiting so long.
If this is the best they can do, so be it.

Just be happy that you spent your money on a product you enjoyed.

What the hell? Did all logic just fly out the window? Since when did the PS3 users need extra incentives to buy the game? They've been whining for it for years. There is no way a person is going to say, "Well, because it has all the DLC, I'm going to buy it. I would never have bought it without the DLC but this free content seals the deal."

No, that makes no sense.

The games'll be nearly a year old on release and there are a TON  of other games for ps3 owners out there, pluss i'm guessing you never heard of "game of the year" editions, year old games which are the same exact game...with...wait for it....FREE DLC!! OMG NO WAYZ!!

Exactly. Actually, ME2 on PS3 may hope to sell well only if it not only includes all DLC, but has some substantial exclusive content (like Joker missions in Batman). Otherwise noone will buy a year old game.

It's a new release on the PS3, it will only be a year old on xbox and PC

After this i won't be buying any new copy of any bioware game unless they give some compensation to the 360 and PC fans.

Only used copies or rent, i they do not respect their fans i won't respect them either.

Wasn´t the ME series kind of unique about the character transfer from ME1 to ME2, "the most personal game in the world" and it is, thats something huge you gonna miss out for the ps3 version but i guess you only care about pumping out as much money as possible from ME2.

Every day i have gone onto the mass effect homepage hoping for dlc or ME3 news but i gotta say this was a huge huge dissapointment, it stinks money making around it.

Just dont make this affect pc and xbox360! and i beg you dont make yourself into a moneywhoring company like blizzard, in the end you will only lose on it, ive allways trusted bioware because it feels like they care about the players more than other game developers. I assume this is EAs idea though.

Why would you think that? Whether you play ME1 or not you get almost exactly the same Ashley/Kaidan scene, you got to meet Tali and Garrus all over again, Kaidan/Ashley will be back as a squadmate as soon as Shep dumps Cerberus, i'm not just positive...

Plus, It's Wrex you should be Worried about, aside from the council, Wrex is Wreav in n00b games!

I honestly have no idea what you just said. No, because the PS3 version has no ME1 to let them make the decision, that means that Bioware is going to avoid adding squadmates that only have a 1/3 chance of appearing is someone's game (.5 for each person x .6666 for the PC and 360 versions out of 3 consoles).

Can someone make me a banner that says something like Original Mass Effect owner on xbox or Long time fan or I'm commander shepard and this is my favorite console (insert name). See I'm the kind of person who has a problem when people aka ps3 gamers come here and act like they've been a fan from the beginning and before I get hate calling me petty I am well aware it is but it would make me feel better.                         Editied because I only slept 3 hours last night and woke up at 7am just to find out mass effect 1 doesnt matter. **** it im going to sleep.

That's right.  When they develop ME3, they will develop it for all three consoles simultaneously.  They won't make a PS3 version that puts less weight on ME1 decisions, and a XBox360/PC version that puts more weight on them.  They won't.

this is what I hear.....a bunch of xbox fanatics hating on the fact that mass effect 2 is going to a system is should have been on to begin with. quite frankly, I don't blame bioware for making this decision, it'll make them more money and so what about additional dlc, ps3 discs hold up to 500gb worth of space, do you know how much 360 discs hold? quite frankly if you think about it, they can do 50x more on the ps3 with just 1 disc than they can on the 360 is 3 or more discs. I'm just happy cause now I no longer have a reason to buy a 360 outside of halo which is now all they have and lets be real../.....NOBODY PLAYS GEARS OF WAR ANYMORE, I KNOW CAUSE I WORK FOR GAMESTOP!!!!!!!!

Sorry to set you straight, but the max cap for a BluRay is currently 100GB.
Go get some info before spouting random babble.

Back at U. The standard Blu-ray format only supports 25gb single layer and 50gb dual layer discs. The 50gb single layer and 100gb dual-layer discs are a part of the BDXL spec, and not supported by the PS3 as far as I can tell. Of course, this could simply be a firmware issue, for all I know. But, the BD spec itself, only runs up to 50gb. ;)
