Mr. Priestly and the rest of Bioware, you better not cheat us out of any content. Missing out on additional armour or weapons I can handle, but missing out on missions and story is a big NO for me.

Missing out on ANYTHING is a BIG NO.  MISSING OUT ON STORY IS SACRLIEGE!

BW will (most probably) sell those "free PS3 content" to pc, xbox users later.

Unless the bonus stuff is ME1 "flashbacks", then there would be no reason to re release on XBOX/PC

Glad to see this happening. Already own the PC version, but I'll definitely be buying the PS3 version too.

Honestly though, I'm not sure which is more impressive: the announcement or the post-announcement forums whining. Love it. Hopefully ME3's private terminal will include a parody forum, where you can read posts from Turians and Batarians complaining that Shepherd's reinstatement as a Spectre in ME2 was a slap in the face to all the council races that made Spectres a success to begin with.

Sorry to set you straight, but the max cap for a BluRay is currently 100GB.
Go get some info before spouting random babble.

Back at U. The standard Blu-ray format only supports 25gb single layer and 50gb dual layer discs. The 50gb single layer and 100gb dual-layer discs are a part of the BDXL spec, and not supported by the PS3 as far as I can tell. Of course, this could simply be a firmware issue, for all I know. But, the BD spec itself, only runs up to 50gb. ;)

You're right. Blu discs only can hold 50 gigs max on the PS3 because of a firmware bottleneck.

mass effect 1 was indeed published by microsoft…for the 360, for the pc version however, the publisher i believe was EA so it’s highly possible to see ME1 on ps3 as well

Like I said there is a lot of room for interpretation, and me just being an average guy I can only "assume" what is meant by the "hours of bonus content making it the perfect ENTRY point to the franchise" statement.

It's the marketing team having the balls to say what the devs don't.....

Nothing that happened in ME1 matters. Fans who preferred that game can take a hike.

Or that PS3 users will have BONUS CONTENT in the form of a prologue.
Of course you can continue to assume the worst if wish to do so. I'm looking at the positive side of it rather than assuming the worst, or reading "bonus content" and assuming that it really says "Free DLC that other people had to pay for". Or seeing this as an indication that they dont want to support the save import transfer feature any further.

What is with the assumption choice won't matter in Mass 3. Oh ye of little faith. That's the most ridiculous assumption to come out of this whole deal. I'm betting they add something on the front of end of the game such as an extended interview with Miranda to set the choices etc...

Enough negativity. May the next negative person have their Xbox RROD on them!

God, the rampant fanboyism in this thread is so stupid it hurts. As a former 360 owner I'm very happy to see that I'll finally be able to play the second installment of the Mass Effect series.

Glad to see Bioware and EA have finally decided to port the series over, and I really hope they find a way to bypass the Microsoft Studios exclusivity of the first game and port that one over too. Maybe something similar to what happened with Ninja Gaiden 2? A Mass Effect Sigma perhaps?

Also, to Bioware, what's this Mass Effect Genesis news I've been hearing about? I was taking it with a grain of salt earlier, but looking at the current situation, I'm having second thoughts.

Are you absolutley clueless?  Or ar you in an ignorant trance of bliss? open your eyes!  We had to pay good money for all the DLC that came out for Xbox360 and PC.  Now Bioware is slapping the dedicated fans in the face by announcing ME 2 for PS3, which is all well and good.  But they get all the loads of DLC for free! Plus a few more we won't have for months!  We're not angry about the Franchise spreading across consoles, just the fact that we got gypped.

Why does everyone think ME1's Choices will go away?

It'll be the same as ME2 on PC/360, Miranda will ask you afew questions at the beginning of the game, and those choices will be put into effect later in the game.

Seriously, either the whole "ME1 choicez aint gunna count!11" thing is either a desperate attempt by Fanboys to come up with a reason why the PS3 Version will be inferior, or you guys need to start thinking before you post.

ME2 getting ported to PS3 is in no way going to effect ME3.

All Bioware needs to do at this point is have Chris, Stanley, or any other ME dev respond to this thread explaining how a PS3 ME2 will effect the production of ME3.

I mean, if a DA dev answered the "the new Quanari are ugly thread" then why can't a ME dev at least acknowledge the mixed reactions from the fans. Seriously, people are developing ulcers here.

Well after the debacle with the Bioware Bazaar for all the loyal forum members (Only those in the US) I would'nt be surprised if the PS3 ME2 came with all new content for that console.
Just another big FU to there fanbase.
Oh I'm all for ME2 and even 1 to come to PS 3 but I don't see why they get for free that I and many others have paid for it's BS.

I don't know why there are so many butthurt people in this thread. You guys need to sit back for a few seconds, and realize what's going on... PS3 is getting Mass Effect 2 and 3. Think of it, Mass Effect 2 and 3. What does this mean? Well... absolute ****ing nothing since you're all still going to get the chance to experience Mass Effect 3.

And you guys are definitely over-thinking this, I've read some lol-worthy posts of how they are changing the story or some **** because PS3 users are not getting ME1 or something. Once again, sit back, relax, take a deep breath and look at the big picture. Mass Effect 3 has been in production for years now, can you really picture some big producer entering the writer's room and saying "Hey guys, scrap all that ****, we're starting back at zero, PS3 now has Mass Effect 3". No, that's right. *sigh*

And of course it sucks that PS3 users will get free DLC for us PC/Xboxers, but look at it this way. Blu-ray games are already 30$ more than your Mass Effect copy you'll buy for your PC. I'm ready to bet that on average here, very little of you actually spent 30$ on the total amount of DLCs you bought. And let's all face the fact, you're only a small minority that cares that ME is no longer a Microsoft exclusive, all the whining in the world is not getting any of you anywhere.

Nobody's said anything of the kind. And getting all the DLC months later, in a GOTY type package... it's hardly unfair, if you take a step back and really look at the fact of how many times we've been able to play this game...

Wow, I'm just floored by some of the people in this community.  Serious mental health treatment is definitely needed for a lot of you and ASAP.

In a matter of minutes people have extrapolated exactly what's going to take place in the future, how Mass Effect 3's going to turn out (it'll be a half assed piece of crap) and that nothing you did in ME1 will matter in the slightest.

Amazing.  Truly amazing.

Now let's get back to the real world and some common sense reason.  Not saying this is what will happen but highly likely from my perspective.

1. I highly doubt Bioware is going to have some huge chunk of story DLC included with the PS3 version.  It makes no sense that they would cater to a minority and ****** of the majority.  Likely what will be included is the DLC that's already come out for the 360/PC.

2. Decisions, decisions.  I believe ME2 had something like 750 decisions carried over from ME1.  It has already been stated by Bioware that there will be over 1000 choices carried over from ME1 and ME2.

3. Stand alone.  You can already play ME2 stand alone with the canon story.  Thousands and thousands of players have done this and still enjoyed ME2.  Many have gone on to play ME1 after the fact.  Is this the best way to play it?  Of course not and I have yet to do so.  It's just not the same without my choices in the game.  The option was still there though where Wrex was dead, etc. and sure, people who played ME1 would never do this but what other people don't know won't hurt them.  Did the players that played ME2 this way lose out?  I think so be I'm sure they didn't think that.  I absolutely believe this will be the same with ME3 for all versions.  You can choose to play it stand alone with canon story and/or import from just ME2 or your save that carried over from ME1 to ME2 and into ME3.

Those are my thoughts and generally I choose to deal with things when they actually become reality.  Not drive myself, and other people around here, with idle speculation and paranoid ramblings of how Bioware and the great and evil EA has screwed them over as a fan forever.

Get a grip people and deal with facts.

EDIT:  As for the DLC and people complaining to no end that all the DLC that we paid for is now giong to be given over to the PS3 owners for free:  That's the way it works!  Early adopters ALWAYS pay full price for what they get.  From consoles to games to electronics to almost everything.  Ever hear of game of the year additions.  Damn, I paid full price for that game plus extra for the dlc and now they're selling a game of the year addition with all that included for free.  Grumble, grumble, grumble.  I bough Oblivion for the 360 and bought dlc for it.  When the PS3 version came out I bought that as will and it came with some of the dlc I previously had to pay extra for.  This is not something new.  Get over it.

Nobody has said anywhere reliable that ME2 or ME2/Genesis has "free dlc". Everybody is in a real need of some time to close their browser and take a walk outside to clear their heads and calm down.
