Oh yeah i forgot to add, when the PS3 version is released i want those "hours of extra content" on the 360 and PC too.

For free.

I assumed you meant as much ;)

But yeah, they have to. As of this point, they are alienating a massive section of their fan base.

They have to put something on PS3 to make it worth getting. Like PS3 exclusive 5 hour campaign or something like that. Or nobody will buy it, everybody will buy it on steam sale for PC.

Except the PS3 users.<_<

That way the three platforms get the same game for the same price, everybody wins.

Holy ****! I posted about an hour ago and I found out there are a lot of whining ****es here. Saying **** like "Chris doesn't care about us anymore" and other stupid ****. It's not that Chris or anyone at Bioware doesn't careits just that this game is so epic its more of a *eff* you to not put it on every consoles that can handle it, like the PS3. And form what I've heard the DLC may cost even the free stuff the PC and 360 users got for free.

No, it's the principle of the situation that upsets people. I respect quality when it comes to a console. For me the quality of fun that the 360 provides for surpasses the PS3's. You shouldn't be surprised that so many people are upset about Mass Effect 2 bypassing to the PS3. The amount of excellent titles that the 360 has is part of it's appeal. Like someone had previously stated, it takes away from console sales and tends to make people who decide between 360 or PS3 feel betrayed. I for one feel extremely betrayed because we've already lost one of our greatest RPGs for the 360 "Elder Scrolls: Oblivion" as an exclusive and now Mass Effect 2? We're always giving PS3 one of our greatest titles for profit. It'd be like saling the rights to the American Eagle to Pakistan. It'd just a betrayal to every single 360 fan and a major slap in the face. Trust me, you're going to see many more negative responses in the coming months to the release of PS3's Mass Effect 2.

As far as the DLC goes. If it's exclusive for the PS3 that's something we'll have to deal with but I do not exactly see that happening. I believe they may either get the Cerberus Network completely free or various DLC that we had to pay for. I doubt it'd be anything exclusive. I'm a follower of the 360 only because I prefer it's benefits over the PS3's. I don't discriminate against consoles. I just believe in representing the best one of the generation. Truth be told, in my opinion that's the 360. We shouldn't be giving away major titles just because they're highly successful.

It's an opportunity for Bioware but at what cost? Slapping all of the loyal Mass Effect fans in the face whom are counting on it being one of the only guaranteed Xbox 360 exclusives? It just isn't worth it and I for one have lost respect for them.

From this it sounds like you're a "loyal Mass Effect fan" not because they're awesome games but because they're exclusive to the 360.

Ridiculous.

Thank you I was about to say the same thing. Freaking Fan-Boys.

Shut up, you damn Sony pawns.

I will not be purchasing any future EA/Bioware products from this day forward.
There is no doubt in my mind that ME3 will suffer due to this announcement, to say otherwise is retarded.
EA are the cancer of the gaming industry.

I'll take that in jest  :P.  I'm not a "Sony Pawn" per se.  I'm a microsoft fan that got tired of getting screwed by faulty hardware.  Giving up 360 was hard for me for the very reason that I couldn't play Mass Effect anywhere else.  So yeah I'm loving this announcement.

Did people flip out like this when Bethesda put Fallout 3 out with all the DLC on disc a few months after the fact? This is no different.

This is good for people like me who can't afford to upgrade to a newer PC and have had SIX 360s Red Ring on them so wouldn't touch another one with a 10 foot pole.

This is Bioware. They're not screwing anyone over and Mass Effect 3 will still be epic.

Look at their track record: Jade Empire, Kotor, NWN, Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1. If Mass Effect 3 sucks I'll poop my pants.

OFf-topic, but: SIX!?!?! Holy Crap!

I had 2 RROD, but I've had around 7 or so 360s since launch the others were hardware failures, overheating etc, whats funny is some dude wrote a book about his 360 experience, I think he had like 9 or 10 since launch that screwed up.

I've had mine for about 3 years now. I've never had an issue, guess I'm lucky.

For a lot of people it's just stupidity when their systems go bad. I know a lot of people that think putting their systems on the carpet and playing them is a good thing. I know there are/have been serious issues with the 360 but there were issues with the PS1 and PS2 as well. People that dwell on the RRoD to back up their fanboyisms are just looking to start an argument.

Yeah I understand that man, I'm not trying to say anything about what people should use, or buy, I'm not a salesman so why should I care what people buy right? I was just elaborating on why I dont game on 360 anymore and relating to the other posters situation. And for the record I've always kept my hardware well ventilated and away from negative elements, I always had PRP warranty's anyways so I didnt pay that much out of pocket but it got to a point where from my point of view it wasnt worth further investment from my wallet into xbox. Hell I stuck with them from the XBOX1's launch until this past July if anything I was a damn fine supporter of xbox for damn near a decade lol. To each is own and what you spend your money on and ENJOY is what really MATTERS right.

EDIT: but throwing words around like "stupidity" towards those with misfortune and who's circumstances you arent fully aware of is kind of off base man. Just saying.

Wait no ME1? So half the plot impact and character development is essentially dead for PS3 players? That's totally crazy Bioware, what are you doing? I was hoping a port would spread the love for the series, but this realy looks like someone is going for a quick buck without any real fore-thought.

OK, I have no problem with this.  If they want to jumble all the current DLC plus Cerberus network into a GOTY package for the PS3, 360, and PC concurrently for $59.99, sure I'm all for it.

However, if they make a special edition that includes exclusive story-driven DLC that isn't available for the 360 and PC and only for the PS3, I will flip.

What's the big deal with having exclusives? Is it to justify someone's purchase of one console over the other?

I see it this way; I got to play the game. That's all the matters.

I am a PS3 user man, and i'm extremely pissed off too, because they basically force me to upgrade my PC in order to play this, and the releasing the complete version of a game (yet the incomplete version of the saga) for a console  i already have, screwing the whole ME concept at the same time.

Don't put us all in the same bag, some of us are as pissed off as you are.

BioWare.. Just make sure the PS3 doesn't get too much additional stuff that the X360 does not.. That would ****** me off. Other than that, multi-plat is fine.

Welcome to EA's Bioware folks. We should have seen this coming with the way ME2 was dumbed down into a "RBG Shooter". Get ready for ME3 multi-player maps.

Well, if they WANT they can make a good port of ME1. The main campaign is less than 1/3 of the total possible lenght of the game, and few side quests have anything to do with characters. But if they go the easy way and this affects ME3 I´m out.

To be honest, I'd rather play the ENTIRE experience on one console than 2/3rds of it on another.

Sure, it's a cash-grab. But it also gives the dev team a built-in excuse when they decide to minimize the characters and decisions in ME1 even further than they already have. They can simply say "We can't bring ______ back because that would be unfair to all of our fans on PS3."

Nevermind what is fair to those of us who have been with the franchise since the beginning.

I don't know about you, but I consider this game to be very story intense. Unless BioWare intends to just release a bunch of mission packs of PS3 owners, it's very likely any exclusive content will be story related. Now imagine that I reached down into the game files of the complete Mass Effect 2 and then tore out a small section of the story (doesn't have to be long at all) and then told you that the only way you are going to be able to buy this section from me is your dependant on your skin color, otherwise you will have to watch someone else play this.

This is why people don't like idea of exclusive DLC for ME2, because most of the DLC has an impact on the overall story and no one wants part of the story being kept from them.

*rolls eyes at certain replies in this thread*

Anyway, Christina Norman has been busy tweeting, as usual:

To anyone who says that me2 ps3 is bad for the 360/PC version, it isn't! We are all gamers here.

it is more like we get to hire extra people because of the ps3 port, it is a win win situation.

My personal goal
is to make the 360, PS3 and PC experiences for ME2 as equal at possible,
and to bring ME2 to as many gamers as possible.

:)
