I just hope that this "hours of bonus content" isn't PS3 exclusive or a free version of the DLC that many 360 players, myself included, paid for.

That would ****** me off too.  Ultimately I bought a 360 instead of a PS3 so I could play Mass Effect, I'm fine with it going cross platform so that more people will get to play it; but I shouldn't be getting the shaft when I bought a console with the express purpose of playing a game.

If they want to throw some existing DLC in to entice people to buy it, then that's fine (if it was just an issue of money, I would have waited till now to buy it and saved myself some cash rather than preordering the Collector's Edition); but if PS3 owners start getting **** that I can't get my hands on that would be some grade A bull****.

I agree 100% with that last statement, it wouldnt be fair at all to give PS3 users exclusive content that 360 users can never get.

Personally I think they should just release a 360 version of the game GOTY then the DLC being free for the PS3 would shut people up. lol You pay for DLC to get it day 1, those who wait......get a PS3 version with all the DLC on it. ^_^ or wait for the GOTY.

Bioware is one of the most respected game companies out there and I had faith in them, however since this announcement Im not so sure. Its nothing to do with the PS3 version (Im glad the PS3 is going to get an amazing game) Its to do with the fact that PS3 wont be getting ME1, so in order for PS3 users to get the same experience as 360 and PC players that means that they would have to discount the decisions made in ME1 (romance options, council decisions etc) which is total bull

Well, I do respect them for making many great games. I think even ME2 was affected by the PS3 version, but I do believe ME3 is going to be great like ME2. The Mass Effect series is not going to be the trilogy we were promised, more like an duology (is that English word?) + prequel, but great games nonetheless.

Crap, you either getting too stupid or you have some major dev team who call pull off all the work. I liked you more when you were poor.

Thanks Bioware, by releasing ME2 but not ME1 for PS3, you really show how much you appreciate your long-time customers who buy every game you make for their quality and were great like ME1, instead of cashing in on the hype one of your game made and selling out and almost guaranteeing that ME3 will be a sell-out game were you flip off your real fans

I hope you understand that many people who prefer PS3 simply played ME1 on PC, you real fanboy? Because of lack of choice, you know. Now STFU already.

Exactly. That's what I'm saying. I'm not flipping out over the DLC business, but it's a really f*cked up move if they get what I nearly invested sixty bucks in. If they get it free, I won't particularly mind but like you I'll be annoyed.

It's my only real concern at the moment. We can all jump on BioWare and convince ourselves that ME3 is going to suffer because of the port, but I'll believe it when I see it. BioWare is a top game developer because they really seem to care about their games and their fans. No way they screw up ME3 because of something as trivial as cross-console versions.

Just don't give them free DLC that I had to pay for and we're good.

BTW thanks for voiceing your opinion in a civil manner as well, its nice to have debates and forum topics with people that act like they are older then 16.

Maybe I am 16. Doesn't mean I don't know anything, just young, clear headed and pissed off, and might miss a comma ounce in a while. When I was 16 the Sex Pistols told me about people like you.

1) you only found out now?

2) is it not the case with most companies?

BioWare could follow the EA Sports model.  This is just specualtion: it will probably contain the previous DLC on the disc, but it will have the Cerberus Network.  So, you have to buy it new to get an unlock for the "bonus" content.  However, if you buy it used; it'll cost you $15.
Now, where the "EA Sports" model fits in; the story will default to Renegade Shepard like the PC/360 without an import.  However, it will offer separate $2 unlock codes for I love Ashley or Kaiden key, Wrex Lives key, and the Council survives key so you tailor the game.  It's like in the sports games you get a recruiting advisor, start as a 5-star athete, etc.
Yep, I'm paranoid; but I think they'll do something like this

We had better get an update for the Liara DLC sometime soon to help calm the $h1t storm Bioware has started, and it damn well better be good. Sorry I'm okay with this going multiplatform but I do feel betrayed because BW stated multiple times that this will not go to the Ps3, well what happend to that bioware hmmmm? I think the answer to that is..... EA!

You actually have no right whatsoever to feel betrayed. Bioware provided a game for $60. You bought that game. Played it.

You're owed nothing else. Nowhere did they ever say "360 and PC exclusive in perpetuity." You had your exclusivity (as I had mine) for a year.

Look I am feeling slightly betrayed. Multiple times it has been said that ME2 would never be released for the PS3, now that it will be I have lost my faith in some of what Bioware says. I do not feel like we are owed anything I just said that I hope the Liara DLC will be good so that everyone will calm down about the announcement. And I am happy for all the people on the PS3 who will now be able to enjoy one of the greatest games ever. Thank you very much. Oh and I do have a right because it is my feelings about the matter and you have no right to get all pissy at me when there are people saying that they should be raped and killed and crap like that. And I never said anything about exclusive where the heck did that come from? I am content with what I got and hope that the PS3 people get the same, nothing more nothing less.

Your mommy and the rest of society have told you that you have a right to your feelings, no matter how selfish. No matter how irrational, just because you have them.

Your mom lied.

Grow up.

The GOTY edition for 360 and PC is a good solution.  That way you couldn't really feel cheated if you could still get the same deal on 360 or PC and ultimately you'd know you paid extra to get the game a year earlier.

Really I won't get pissed unless, PS3 users get content I can't play.  But if they do, I will get very, very pissed.

The amount of outrage here is highly amusing, it's like the reverse of FFXIII. I don't think Bioware will negate everything in ME1 for ME3, that would be silly. The only thing we know for sure is that PS3 isn't getting a straight ME1 port; there are many alternatives to get ME1 choices into ME2 PS3 (abridged intro-mission, answering questions, import PC save). We should really chill out and wait for the issue to be formally addressed.

As for people complaining about the possibility of PS3 owners getting "free" DLC, you got plenty of free DLC for joining the Cerberus network at launch. You can buy ME2 brand new for $30, how would Bioware justify charging PS3 owners $60 without including some sort of bonus? I can't speak for PC, but there will totally be a Platinum Hits version on Xbox that will have all sorts of bonuses; they did it for ME1 and they'll do it again.

I will admit that I'm a Sony fanboy, but I really don't believe the PS3 will ruin ME3. I still think much of FFXIII's linearity is due to it being split up over three discs on the Xbox, but honestly it still would have been a mediocre game even if it never made the jump. ME was and is my favorite game series of this generation; the only thing that's changed for me is now I can look forward to playing ME3 on my PS3. Even if Bioware's sole motivation for this move is money, I'd say they deserve it for churning out such exceptional games. I have complete faith that ME3 will be a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy, regardless of which console it's on.

The "bonus content" might simply be a short, interactive summary of the events that took place in the first game, prior to starting ME 2 on the PS3. It could possibly be presented as a flashback, allowing you to decide how the flashback went (what choices you made in Feros, Noveria, Virmire, etc.), so that PS3 players not only get brought up to speed with what went down in the first game, but also gives them the chance to manipulate some of the major parts in the story (i.e., who you saved, who you killed, who you romanced, etc.) so that their experience in ME 2 is similar to that on the 360 and PC versions.

This way decisions in the first ME would still be important in the third game (since PS3 players would still have the ability to make these decisions, albeit in a different manner).

And that's merely one way that Bioware could make ME 2 easier for PS3 players to get into; I'm sure there are far more creative ways that this could be done. At the end of the day, we don't really know exactly what Bioware is going to include in the PS3 version of ME2, but it's probably safe to say that they are going to include content that will try it's best at giving PS3 players a similar experience without having to play the first game.

Nicely said. And not at all unlikely.

I want my stuff to save over! That was one of the best parts of first two games. I really loved this series but they better not destroy that. This is why I hate EA . Once this series is over Im staying away. Im really sorry Bioware but I cant take EA's tactics anymore.

I hope ME2 and ME3 will now have console exclusive offers. EA's Dead Space, 360 Armor comapred to PS3 armor. A little something extra for w.e. console you are playing on. Not to leave out the cpu.

Its true, I found the things that actually did carry over that I cared about were not built up on very much. Liara basically forgot you existed, and Ash/Kaiden ditched you as soon as they found you were with Cereberus which is bunk after all they went through.

I would rather they come up with something fresh for ME3 then focus on some of the minor stuff from ME1......don't get me wrong some things are important like the council, and yeah the Wrex thing was pretty neat but short lived.

It suck that there is a possibility ME3 will be missing certian carry overs from ME1 but at this point I can live with it. if they improve on carry overs from ME2 to ME3....who knows Bioware has plans for it so it will be good reguardless.

Cant please everyone.

I think someone said it wouldn't affect the ME3 development and we don't know how they'll sort out the whole ME1 decisions problem yet so there's not much reason to worry about ME3 yet.

They'll probably do the same thing for ME2 for those who didn't have an ME1 save; have a "cannon" story based on what most people did.

Also, about ME2 going to PS3...is it because Microsoftonly had FPR for the series? You see, the Xbox releases are published by Microsoft Games Studio, but the PC releases, which came out delayed to the 360 release, are published by EA alone. That makes me wonder if Microsoft only had First Publishing Rights all along.

Not that it matters now, anyways. I mean, people who were going to choose what console to buy based on what platform Mass Effect 1 or 2 was coming out on already got their 360s. Even if ME3 came out simultaneously on both consoles and PC, Microsoft has already reaped the benefits of their very early timed release.

If at the end of all this you didn't care what carried over from ME1 into ME2 and will consequently not care what carries over from ME2 to ME3, then Bioware has completely failed at their task of presenting an over arching game trilogy, which is what they set out to do.

I get that you want as many people to buy the game as possible, so it stands to reason that each one would also work as a stand-alone experience.  But to completely sideline characters and outcomes just because its easier is a mega fail (if that's what they did, which I suspect was part of it).  If you do that then what in the hell is the point of even buying ME2 at this point when I'm sure you can just pick up ME3 when it comes out and delve into their now completely canoned out total non-rpg brainless shooter with all the decisions made for you except where to aim your weapon.
