The PS3 version will be handled the same way as buying ME2 for the xbox or pc without having played ME1.  You'll get a generic start, some backstory, and then race to save the galaxy. It'll still be fun. Sure, you wont get some of neat transfers from ME1, but no big deal.
 Any exclusive content will be for a limited time. As stated before in an earlier post, likely a gun or armor. Hours of bonus content more than likely means that it is going to be bundled with ME2 DLC up to this point. Sorta like the Fallout 3 GOTY edition with all DLC for $50.00.
 But to fit in, let me cry and overreact a bit.
 OH NO! Now that this is going to the PS3, I cannot possibly enjoy ME1 or ME2 on my 360 anymore. Now when I boot up ME2, All shephard does is play with his PS3 in his private quarters!  Thanks alot Bioware!! My ME2 experience is ruined!!!!! I'll never buy Bioware again! ME3 is really gonna be a bad game now that the user base will be expanded!

This is true.  I read this article.  I'm not sure Sony will that picky about this exclusive jumping ship, though.

As far as the lack of ME1, I still believe there will be an interactive "Story So Far" cutscene at the beginning.  It will pause at various key decision points and let the player choose the outcome via the Dialogue wheel like some choose your own adventure book.  You now have a save that can customize your start to ME2.

seeing they as they cannot get ME1 they should be forced to use the default storyline they do not desereve any special treatment or any othe excluisve stuff all they should get is the default free stuff like zaeed. PC/360 are the only platforms which should be getting anything exclusive

well..on the forums..you have your dragon age persona..saying what you have done and all that..why not (except, obviously for people who dont own ME1 on pc or xbox) just have a more advanced version and make an ME Persona profile, listing the choices you made and such, and then have the PS3 log in to the cerberus network and "download" the choices?

Hey, just to tell you, I am an avid Playstation gamer. I have never touched an Xbox remote until Mass Effect 2 was released. I'm just saying that the Xbox will have an huge advantage over the PS3.

This is true.  I read this article.  I'm not sure Sony will that picky about this exclusive jumping ship, though.

As far as the lack of ME1, I still believe there will be an interactive "Story So Far" cutscene at the beginning.  It will pause at various key decision points and let the player choose the outcome via the Dialogue wheel like some choose your own adventure book.  You now have a save that can customize your start to ME2.

I dont think Bioware would betray ME fans by offering exclusive content to the PS3. However, EA would sell its soul for money.

Doesn't really stop it from going back to the original release in some way.  But that doesn't happen often.

At the start, you meet atton rand and you talk for a short while about revan, and you can select what happened in the first game. like, was revan male or female and did he/she save the galaxy or return to power as the dark lord of the sith?

As for ME1. I really want ME1 on the PS3, among loads of other people..It really should be released..even if something like only having it digitally via psn or something. I don't care, as long as i can have it. but if it really CANNOT be avoided, I have a couple of ideas for the ME Choice system.


both of these have one main issue, their are still people who are PS3'ers and have never played ME1. Many PS3'ers won't understand whats being said and whats happened. I can just imagine the "omg who the f*ck is saren?" posts..

ME2 is a game which needs its predecessor with it..
Unless BioWare release ME1 for PS3, it's a horrible marketing choice, as they won't get near the same success as Xbox 360 and PC..

It's not about being a fanboy. It's an awfully stupid classification to even label those upset at the fact that Bioware allowed their over overinflated confidence lead them jumping over to the PS3 fanbase. While this may be a good idea for Bioware, and the Mass Effect  franchise, this is a horrible decision for Microsoft. As it could possibly deminish sales. I don't yet know what effect the revised 360 console will have. It may be successful enough to void the consequences of Mass Effect 2 coming to PS3 but that's yet to be seen. These people are upset because they feel betrayed. They feel betrayed because once again another great title is slipping through our grasp. The specific conflict beyond that reasoning is up to the individuals. Everyone has a different reason for wanting the 360 to keep ME2 for itself. I don't particularly care as long as it doesn't deminish the quality of my play on the 360. Although, I have lost a great deal of respect for Bioware, saying that they had no plans to cross-console with ME2 and then they make a huge controversial announcement contradicting what they'd previously said because of ME2's success. They are branching out because they feel confident that Mass Effect 2 will make a big impact.

To be honest, a lot of you may not want to hear this but ME2 WILL make a big impact on the PS3. Despite how much some of you really may not like the PS3, Mass Effect 2 is just a kick a** game. The consecutively positive reviews that Mass Effect 2has been receiving are groundbreaking. Another truth that PS3 fans may not want to hear is that it will always do better on the 360. Simply because that is the system it was released on and if it hadn't done so well in it's sequel to Mass Effect 1 there is a good chance it'd still be exclusive. Of course I'm making this assumption with thethought that they'll continue to take care of their 360 fans. Which would be the most prominent decision. Considering how many fans I know Bioware is losing. It's the most logical decision not to forget about their primary fanbase. It's even more risky considering that Mass Effect hasn't had to compete with PS3 titles like God of War 3. Now it'll have to. This could be either very good or very bad for Mass Effect 2. It's up in the air for now. Who truly knows what'll happen.

And the thing about Kotor 2. I strictly remember that being an actual exclusive. The reason they give you the option to  choose between Revan's gender when you speak to Atton is to satisfy the fans who didn't want to go by Canon (Male) Revan. However, the idea is very much like Miranda's interrogation at the beginning of Mass Effect 2. They simply wanted to know your preference on how Revan was referred to during the course of the game. I don't see how that issue is even remotely the same as this one. Back then, it was a pipe dream that PS2 would even get Kotor 1 or 2.

I agree.  Make ME2 more interesting for multiple playthroughs.  I don't think the interactive cutscene thing I stated above is the greatest idea; but it does offer SOME customization.
Where I feel sorry for PS3 gamers is the lack of an import from ME1 bonus for an Insanity Playthrough.  That would be tough for me.

Actually no. UE3 always favors 360/PC. There's not much to be optimized (UE3 is a multi-plat engine) and there certainly won't be any delays with ME3, trust me

Great. Just great. So after claiming, repeatedly, that ME2 will not be released on PS3, *ever*, suddenly they're thrilled to announce the exact opposite. I can only echo other posters, this had better not result in XBOX gamers being cheated out of game content. Especially when it comes to details concerning ME3. (Which I'm guessing will be delayed while 2 is being tailored for the PS3? Lovely.)
