It's pretty obvious at this point that Microsoft owns the publishing rights to ME1. If they didn't you would have seen both ME2 and ME1 announced for the PS3 today.tj987654321 wrote...

I'm assuming ME1 will somehow be downloadable for PS3 like it is on xbox live otherwise what's the point? ME is about making choices while playing an awesome game and if certain choices are default like it is if you start new for ME2 on xbox then I don't see why ME1 wasn't released first or both together. If ME1 isn't made available as well in one fashion or another soon then I'm afraid this attempt to expand ME to PS3 players will fail.
microsoft already said it aint hapening
While I believe that ME 1 will not be ported, we were also assured that ME 2 would not be ported by bioware.

I completely agree with you, but there is still a sliver of a chance.

Usually, wouldn't the next systems be out soon. The Xbox 360 has had a long reign.

Sorry, I'm new to the Xbox. I have only been a Playstation gamer until ME 2. I thought that the PS3 was released over four years ago, with the Xbox coming Two years before that.KingRanger wrote...

Long reign? It's been 5 years. It also isn't the number 1 console.

This worries me and here's why:
The PS3 does not have ME1, and many of the choices from ME1 have carried over to ME2, particularly the endings. If you start a game in ME2, you get the default "mediocre" game: i.e., the council will be dead, you will no longer be a specter, and Wrex will be dead by default as well. Because ME1 is not on the PS3, those default settings will be automatic and carry on to ME3.
Now here's the worrisome part: in the PS3 version of ME3, the council will always be dead, Shepard will have always lost specter status, and ME 1 romances will have never developed. Therefore, if Bioware/EA decided to incorporate those factors into ME 3, they would only be present on the 360 and PC version of the game, not on the PS3 version. Bioware/EA may decide it's a waste of money and resources to spend time developing parts of the game that will only show up on two systems, so they default everything for ME3 to match the PS3 game. That is, the council and Wrex will end up dying at the beginning of ME3 even if you saved them, ME 1 romances will never be finished, etc. With EA being in charge and the money making machine that it is, I can see this as a very real possibility, though I really hope it doesn't happen.

I'm just glad I don't have a PS3, because if I hadn't played Mass effect 1 I wouldn't have touched Mass effect 2. HAHA sucks for those who have a PS3. Bioware That was just pure genius. Giving them a ME 2, but not the memory with ME 1. Talk about messing with the sony lovers. I guess this is bioware saying how much they hate PS fans. HAHA! You guys got ownd by the XBOX and PC crowds.

Well that's certainly what I would hope, but I'm not sure if they are going to put the extra time into ME2 to incorporate choices that don't show up on all consoles. From a customer/fan service standpoint it makes sense, but from a money making standpoint it does not. Since EA is famous for cutting corners to make money, and now that they hold Bioware's budget, I'm much more worried that it could end up that way.
