Good to hear, Microsoft can't monopolize everything forever.

If PS3 gets ME2, then as a 360 owner I think we should get Uncharted 2.

Microsoft Responds to Mass Effect 2 Jumping Ship

Microsoft has responded to today's announcement of Mass Effect 2 coming to PlayStation 3. The game first launched in January 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC, and is now headed to PS3 a year later in January 2011.

"With both Mass Effect titles launching first on Xbox 360 combined with the wealth of available paid downloadable content on Xbox Live today, Xbox 360 remains the best place to experience the Mass Effect franchise," a representative said in a statement given to IGN.

Mass Effect 1, first published by Microsoft in 2007, will remain exclusive to Xbox 360.

"And the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience," the company added.

Agreed. It's like they just announced that Tali wouldn't be returning in ME3 or something.

what "console" do you own?

A point to being a multiplatform gamer is, well, to be a gamer.
but if you want a logical reason other than just being a gamer that obviously loves games, well, have you played Uncharted, or God of War(just started playing it, actually really good), Gran Turismo?
or if you're a PS3 owner even though by your attitude you're not in favor of that system, but I'll list some reasons as well, Fable, Mass Effect"1", Halo?
And there are even more reasons for at least at some point building a mid grade PC to at least try so killer RTS games, or go with a classic shooter like Counterstrike, or a badass turnbased RPG like Fallout 1&2.

Why not be multiplatform so long as you can finance it or enjoy it with the least amount of hassle as possible.

Ahh...That's why only ME2 is gonna be ported to PS3.Simply because there is no Tali romance in ME1.Posted Image

Uh... yes there is. Just because a majority of the games are for both systems doesn't mean that there aren't exclusive titles for one of them. That's the point. To be able to play the ones you can't play on the others. Oh and also PS3 does have other options on the systems. It's got Blu-Ray. I mostly got it for the Blu-Ray and for the fact that there are a fair amount of games for it that I wanted to play.

I don't see the problem in having all the consoles.

At first this news seemed bad, but not so much anymore. Most of the fears I had were that ME3 would be delayed or somehow be watered down to cater to PS3 players who never played ME1. But comments from devs like the one on twitter alleviate some of that fear. I'm certain BioWare will create some sort of introductory sequence (be it gameplay or survey) that takes care of ME1 choices.

So my faith in BioWare remains intact, though a bit shaken because they also at one point said ME2 wouldn't be on the PS3... but we'll chalk that one on EA lol... besides, the more people who own ME2, the better, as long as it doesn't negatively affect ME3 in any way.

Im glad you guys wisened up and made it for PS3! I got rid of my 360 after the 5th RROD and switched to ps3. I regretted the fact I couldnt play ME2 anymore, but I prayed you guys get with the times and port it well to PS3! BEST NEWS THIS YEAR THAT CANT BE TOPPED!

I love when people make up stories. Did you make popcorn before you told this one?

Really? 5 Red Rings O' Death's? Did you actually go through 5 systems? That's bad luck, man. Or have I mistaken that some people are now using the whole Red Ring as an excuse for nerd rage after dying on the same boss 10 times in a row, and then you break your system? :P

dude it's not that uncommon. 360's are hit and miss, some people just have a bad run with them is all, I'm sure as someone pointed out today(though kind of generalized that all people with problems concerning consoles are from stupidity), my brother treats his 360s like crap, well pretty much everything he owns(and here I thought joining the military after I had wouldve straightened him out) and he's only gone through 4 or 5 xbox360s since launch, I think 2 out of all he's had RROD, the others were disc drive failures or they just stopped reading discs.

You dont even want to know how many I've gone through, but on a side note some guy actually wrote a book about his numerous 360 problems and how many he'd gone through, cant say I've read it, why the hell would anyone want to read about themselves right lol.

LOL yeah true

Yeah, I smell nerd rage wafting off of luckyduck88. :P

In regards to the thread topic: I'm not complaining, I've already spoken my opinion on this announcement. There's nothing I can do about BioWare's decision, so now let's just bicker on, shall we? *adjusts his bow tie, and top hat* :P

No actually. our mom made it for me when I thought of it...WTF... Anyways.  If your one to get off by starting nonsense, do it somewhere else. This is a Bioware forum... Who cares if you believe what happened to my old poor excuse for a console? Go change your pullups kid. Shepard has better things to do.

I'm saying it now. 360 owners are terrible, terrible people.

its only bc they have to defend their console that is almost impossible to defend bc of its so many faults.

anyways, ps3 is a great platform for developers to develop on, they need to start taking more advantage of the technology so i applaud bioware for moving me2 to the ps3 as well. i mean come on if a game like me2 has to be on a disc format then it should be on blu-ray, no disc switch BS period!

p.s. pc me player here

Well we knew this was gonna happen from the moment Bio went EA. Exclusivity is not an option! And LOL at the nerdrage in the thread, come on people, if you love the game you should be happy it will get more sales!

You know, I wouldn't mind so much, but this is a perfect example of how Sony almost always wins out over 360 owners in the end. Take Ninja Gaiden for example. Initially, an xbox exclusive. Then Sony gets it, AND they get more features to boot! PS3 owners will get all the DLC included, plus bonus content that 360 owners will never see. Not only that, but it means that Mass Effect 3 is going to look better on PS3 (maybe ME2, as well), while we get stuck with disc swapping as our bonus!

On a more personal note...I've played PS3 plenty, and I just don't care for it. But I'm leaning more and more toward single player and co-op experiences. The consequence of this is that xbox live being, in my opinion, a superior offering to the playstation network is becoming less important all the time. I don't like PS3, and despite that I'm considering trading my 360 for one...WTF!?

Microsoft holds the exclusive rights to ME1, that is why it will NEVER be on another system; too bad that they did NOT get  the rights to ME2 & ME3. Mass Effect was developed to showcase the new Xbox360 and use the hardware to the max. So Xbox (&PC) users get a TRILOGY and PS3 uses get a DUOlogy? Now THAT is really dumb, unless BW adds something in all that "special content," HA !! they CAN'T have any connection to ME1 not without MS lawyer$ having a field day! It will be like coming in the middle of a movie and wondering WTF the beginning was like, who are these people, why are they talking about events about what occurred in the past (ME1). BW, I don't think you thought this through, unless EA is making you do it. "Even your friends will screw you for an extra cred," Jack.
