i'm calling it, i'm predicting ME1 for ps3 with an annoucement made in the coming moths.
for those who say never, remember ME2, bioshock, ninja gaiden and more

With the wave of "remastered" titles soon to hit ps3 (Prince of Persia trilogy most recent leak), this could very well happen, and with the precedent of NGsigma it is rather possible. Also somewhere commented that EA had PC publishing rights, so it would be interesting to see how that works. Regardless, I doubt it will make too much of a difference for the majority of the new players. I played ME1 on 360 and don't really care about bringing that save over to play ME2 on ps3. In the end the choices you make are rather superficial.

I'm more pissed about Bioware's insistance in nonsensically locking my Dragon Age saves

"locking your saves"?

Same goes if uncharted would have been released on the pc at the beginnig of its lifecycle

yes, i'm pretty sure it would.
multiplatform allows for a larger fanbse, provided that the ports are equal.

Yeah... but Sony was smart enough to buy Naughty Dog (and Media Molecule, etc) to secure that talent... Microsoft didn't do that for Bioware

Yeah, instead Bioware got bought by EA who will suck them to death for money... I'm not surprised by ME2 for PS3 as it maximizes revenue, and for ME1 on PS3 - I don't think that EA cares about the Bioware fanbase at all so we probably never see it...

Microsoft holds the publishing rights, they aren't giving them up

holds publishing rights....for 360
for pc it's EA that has them, so ps3 is still a possibility

I don't think a Macintosh version was ever released.  So it coming on PC was indeed a Microsoft platform (Windows).  There was an article on IGN.com

http://xbox360.ign.c.../1113521p1.html

Microsoft Representative claimed that it would remain Xbox exclusive

http://www.bioware.c..._effect_pc.html

take a good look at what it says in the publisher section.

Wonder if that means ME1 will be coming to PSN for people to buy/Download then...After all if they are bring ME2 to the PS3 they really HAVE to some how bring ME1 to the PS3 in some respect.

how does PC not count? i'm not a PC player, but damn, that's...retarded. and it's not about the console. it's about the fact that i spent more time than you doing everything in the game, multiple multiple times on the 360. sounds cocky, yes, but that doesn't mean it's not true. my problem is them stating bonus content (red flag), and the fact that Bioware games and Microsoft or PC systems seem to go hand in hand, it does feel like a betrayal. I'm all about owning multiple systems, except this last generation. Sony treats their people like **** and spouting company protocols and numbers, and nintendo is about gimmicks and saturation. atleast with my xbox it seems like it's about the games and the experience. and PC...PC is about tailoring your experience to suite your needs.

I know EA published it for PC I never disputed that

but Windows is a Microsoft platform, that isn't enough information to make a judgement, the only thing we have is a Microsoft representative claiming that it will remain three sixty exclusive

Yes, PC and xbox360 users (ie members here) will surely "stay tuned in" for PS3 news. Well, it is not surprising, EA/BW want as much money as possible. Hours of bonus content - lets all hope it is exclusive for PS3 lol

Oh god... not only are you butthurt that they are expanding to more platforms, you also act up like some kid when learning they will get the DLC too?. talk about entitlement you ****ing baby.

We might aswell shut up and get over it because no matter how hard we complain it will still happen

EA(money over fans)

Microsofts(not buying bioware and other companies off)

i just hope that the ps3 version isnt gimped or superior but equal to its counterparts

Microsoft screwed themselves and Sony/EA played it smart i guess life goes on

most of my aguements and complaints were caused by my love for all gaming consles i dont wanna see one be dominated by the other i want equality (hmmm sounds knda selfish no?)

funny on how microsoft is handling the news, saying that mass effect 1 is xbox exclusive.
on one hand, yes ME1 was published by microsoft.....on the xbox

however...EA was the publisher for pc version
if EA can publish ME1 for pc, then ps3 is also a possibility

Windows is a Microsoft platform

It's a shame Mass Effect was an exclusive in the first place. A game of this caliber deserves everything it can get - if they can do the port justice, and I'm sure Bioware will, it hurts nobody and benefits everybody to have it on all three systems (PC, XBOX and PS3). Why would you deny PS3 users the awesomeness of playing Mass Effect on their system? I play all Bioware games on PC, and I honestly think it's great.

More Mass Effect for everyone!

EDIT: Don't stop there, either. Bundle the PS3 version with ME1, Bioware. Lord knows PS3 users have waited long enough.

I think we've seen this before, remember resident evil 4,the creator sayiing he would be dead before it would be on the ps2,and then what happened, the same with resident evil 1 as a playstation exclusive, but years later it was available in the Sega Saturn,so you know they always find a way to mild the cow, on another note, they will be playing a game we played, replayed, rerererereplayed already by the time they are trying to figure out how to choose their squad to survive the last mission we'll be playing several new games we're looking foward to.New content...shove it!I mean I am happy they actually can play this amazing game but there are ways and ways to do this...

Yes... they are copy protected... which means you can't back them up unless you do a full system backup... the kicker being that even if you do a system backup, the fkers have LINKED THE SAVE TO THE HARDWARE! They tried to tell us that Sony forced it on them... which is bs, but we're complaining to everyone anyway.

Wow, some people are taking this too personally. I don't mind that PS3 only owners get the game. In fact I own a PS3 as well. I also don't mind that the DLC will likely be packaged in as well. After all, why shouldn't it. This is essentially a "Game of the Year" edition and the lot of you wouldn't complain like this if EA released a "Game of the Year" edition for the PC or 360.  And what is with all this "waiting an extra year" crap? I somehow doubt that a port would impact development of the sequel. Have you not heard of studio expansion and having different teams work on different things?

What I am personally curious about is how Bioware would deal with the lack of ME 1 on the PS3. If they do something creative enough, it may warrant a repurchase. Specifically if they exclusively remake some segments of ME1 for the PS3 to explain the story. If they do this, it may whet my appetite enough to consider looking at a double dip. After all, ME 1 mechanics did not age well and I don't really want to jump back into that game.

@ rogershoe... people start spekulating in the worst train of thought imagineable. This whole forum does. it's ****** stupid but it'll never change. Only think "wrong" with this announcement, if anything at all, it's that they'll miss ME1 on the ps3.

As for Mass Effect 1 remaining exclusive to 360 and or PC, yes that is likely to be the case unless a purchase of the published software rights takes place in favor of anyone wishing to bring it to other platforms, however, there is nothing stopping BioWare or EA from creating a "Mass Effect 1" based off another medium or even re-creating a new Mass Effect to take it's place from scratch.

Kind of like the LOTR, Tolkien's retainers can make whatever game they please based off of the rights retained, New Line and WB retains the FILM rights, and can create games based on the FILMS produced. Microsoft owns the rights to Mass Effect 1's software, yes the disc or digital format of THE SOFTWARE THEY PUBLISHED, they do not retain the rights to the IP of Mass Effect that BW and EA retain. This means only MS can reproduce that SOFTWARE, so a port is out of the question unless as I said there is a purchase of rights to reproduce or redistribute that software.

Legendary bought the rights to produce a FILM based on the Mass Effect IP, the film can follow the exact paths that ME1 took throughout the game, and thus a new MEDIUM is created, EA and BW can create and publish a GAME based off the FILM. Or like I said earlier CREATE Mass Effect from scratch. I'm tired right now but I'm not full of **** either.

i honestly don't think it is as easy as that if MS would sue EA the money destroyed in the process wouldnt be worth the possible income also EA just doesnt care enough

I never said it was easy, but these are loopholes, because the IP is retained by BW and EA, if the rights to make any games based off of Mass Effect was retained by MGS then no absolutely not possible. But that is not the case.

Take it for what it's worth, just sharing some knowledge. Good night to you all, even the crazies on here, yes I wish even you the best, get some rest.

If it is just a port i have no problem with standing on equal grounds on ME2 the special content gets the Red Flag up as many people stated already in this thread

Exactly!  This move only expands the audience for the game.  I'm glad its happening so the ME franchise can grow & that more people will come to realise what a great series it is.  I'm not glad its happening b/c I wonder how this will effect ME3 & future ME games b/c of ME1 decisions carrying over.  Depending on how BioWare handles this, it can make or break the gaming experience for players b/c they will be missing out on a lot of gameplay decisions, backstory, & loveable/hateable characters.  I'm just glad I already played ME1 & imported into ME2.

I own a 360 & a PS3, I like both, it just depends on the games!

(To: Fexelea) I take you have the PC version. That's one reason I no longer purchase PC titles. I have no problem with CD keys; with all of this DRM "let's kill the pirates" furvor, screwing the majority of paying customers, makes me pause to expose my computer to their viral code. I still have the remnant of the SECURom file in my HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software in RegEdit. I appreciate EA employing such software, but thankfully no problems I know of.

But, as to what I am posting for, if it's true ME2 will be ported for the PS3, then this is the very last title I will purchase from Bioware. Granted I have no problem with a company making money (Capitalism does work most of the time). But if Bioware had every intention of making the ME "TRILOGY" a multiported title, then they should've done that in the first place. Unless EA is flexing like an annoying musclehead forcing Bioware to do it. I see this as the beginning of the end. I think EA purchased Bioware and Pandemic through the same holding company for, I think, $500M. It seems to as a hostile take over to me. I was really looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic as I really enjoyed KoTOR 1 & 2. I really enjoyed Jade Empire and was hoping a second title. I liked Dragon Age as well. I think they were on solid footing even before EA got their tenticles into them. If EA straigthens up their act, then I'll start to reconsider them. I'll say that both Bioware and Pandemic will end up like Westwood.

PS.....Watch the franchise extend beyond a trilogy!!!!! Hopefully I am misguided on that.

(To: Opertive84) It all depends on what the contract states. Apperently it is the case where MS purchased the IP for further development. If it is the case, I would have solid grounds to sue. But who knows dealings have been made and royalties to be paid.

My only wish is that the ps3 version is equal to the 360 and pc versions. That, and that importing save files will have some significance in ME3.
