I hope that this isn't like Tales of Vesperia. That game was a 360 exclusive and got ported over to the PS3 with MANY HOURS of bonus content including a new main character. WTF?!?!?! Anyway, that caused a big stink with the 360 users of Japan because they felt like they got completely betrayed by the Tales team which they did. I just hope that ME2 on the PS3 doesn't get bonus content that actually has story value and is not a new character. I say this not because I want ps3 users to suffer, I'd just hate for Vesperia to happen all over again.

We are very proud to announce today that Mass Effect 2 will be coming to the Playstation 3 in January 2011. The PS3 edition will include the full Mass Effect 2 game and hours of bonus content.
**************************************************************************************
Uhhhh.. ok i am not gonna decide anything yet but if PS3 owners get content that the rest of us do not you know your loyal fan's who spend tons of money on your products, and have been doing so since the beginning i am gonna be pissed.

Also if the PS3 owners do not get mass effect one that is not fair to them and you will be taking away from their experience.

This announcement ...i don't know.. i DO want everyone to be able to enjoy mass effect but they need to do it right.

I dont see what everyone is whining about, really. It's great that more people will get to play this awesome series, and even if ME1 doesn't show up on PS3, why should it affect the rest of us? The game will just assume the player did the default choices, just like what happened in ME2. I just hope Wrex and liara return in a more badass lets-go-kick-butt kind of way

Hours of bonus content? Clarification? Existing DLC (at no extra cost for PS3 users, I bet) or new content? I swear that if it's PS3 exclusive content I'm going to pirate ME3 and vow never to pay for a Bioware game again. As a 360 owner, I've already had to cop the short end of the stick once and once was enough. Remember Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2?

Screw you Bioware.

Problem is, if Bioware co-develops Mass Effect 3 for both the 360 and PS3, one version will be superior, and itll take a MASSIVE chunk into development time.

PS3 slowed down Final Fantasy 13 by 2 years..... imagine the problems with Mass Effect 3....

I believe some exclusive titles are fine. Not everyone will like all platforms. But look at Nintendo, they have Link and Mario. Sega has sonic, Sony has(d) Snake, Microsoft has Halo and Fable. Specific exclusives are fine, if I had a third party developing company, I would make every title multiplatform. And if a company wants exclusivity, then they either purchase the franchise IP rights or not. I can only imagine how tough it is to code for different platforms. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, the PS3 and the 360 chipsets were developed by IBM. Both consoles should about the same. There are differences.

But I degress, I'd say if the companies want exclusive titles, then they need to develop them themselves. I think MS is a software developer, so I wouldn't imagine they would issues developing their own titles. Though, I may be wrong.

Sony is also a Microchip producer, I thnk.

Don't worry, the multiplatform title that does not look inferior on the PS3 compared to the 360 or even more so the PC has yet to be programmed.

First Bioware goes with demo for ME2, that could only possibly explained that they trying to get last few bucks out from the ones who been in comma for all this time and just recently woke up.
Now Bioware port ME2 to PS3 in order to get any possible money left out there (probably idea with demo didnt work well).
It looks like they way too desperatly trying to get every possible drop from the game. It's not about "we want PS3 games play it too", no Bioware is a company (and we need to respect that too) who rather want cash so it will be "we want PS3 money too".
Thus it's not that hard to assume that once they will milk everything from ME2 then they will start milking ME1. And they need to do it before ME3 otherwise it will not be as effective. So you dont need to worry about ME1 choices.

As from programming perspective then making default values for ME1 savegame is no brainer. So dont worry too.

To all the people bagging Bioware for this move: I'm sorry, but is it really such a big deal?

Yes there are a few things they need to be careful of, and some obvious pitfalls. Without ME1, ME2 isn't nearly as good, and if the PS3 gets any sort of content that is unavailable to PC and XBox, then that would be a really bad move by Bioware.

But as long as this doesn't detract too much from ME3, and as long as the PS3 doesn't get any content that is unavailable to the rest of the community, this really isn't such a bad thing. One of the things that's annoyed me a little has been how so many of my friends have been completely unaware of ME 1 and 2 simply because they game on the PS3. This is a great chance for everyone else to see just how good Mass Effect really is.

I understand everyone's concerns, and I share a few of them. But have a little faith in Bioware; if they do this right, this could be really good for Mass Effect, rather than the abomination so many people are seeing it as. Fingers crossed they do it justice.

That's just my opinion, though.

It was the other way round.Xbox made Fantasy 13 linear. The reason the game took so long was because the work on the xbox version started near the end of development.Square has addmited to cutting content because of the 360.ME2 on the ps3 is great news. It's sad how microsoft can't keep it highest rated exclusive.

I wonder if Microsoft will have a private chat with EA & Bioware in a sealed soundproof room after this announcement <_<

I do recall some Bioware ME crew saying (not that long ago infact) that ME series will only be on the pc and 360 and will never show up on the ps3 (I wonder how much Sony donated to EA )

will the player make a choice of what happend? or are you going to just port the ME2 with some DLC?

Do you really believe that they could develop a PS3 version in the months between the demo and Gamerscom?

It's mostly the PC users who get screwed again. More console "gamers" buying the game means even more streamlined and shallow gameplay in the future.

How come? The originally console exclusive franchise was only streamlined once it went multiplatform on PC.

Not that I am complaining, ME2 gameplay was improvement over ME1.
