While It's a good move financially, I don't think the same can be said about fanbase and ME3 development.

of course not, it's bigger now with the future ps3 fans myself included
and more funds mean a better budget for ME3

So my general guess what the PS3 is getting, is the expanded intro to cover some ME1 details as provided by link above. and probably not any of the DLC, they'll make us get it seperate which I can live with. Would rather have the extended beginning to fill in the gaps of the missing ME1.

I am sorry to see so many 360 users have such a negative reaction to this news. I am excited for it. Not everyone can buy multiple sytems in this economy. And EA and BioWare see this, are they doing it for money, yes. But they see that going cross platform will help them earn more, and also makes them more responsible to producing a better product due to having more consumers.

People want to play their games, so they should say yes you can, but only if you can buy a PC worth running it, or another game console than the one you have...

I am extatic the game is coming to PS3, and I really hope it doesn't diminish ME3 in any way. If it does, I will apologize now, but right now we do not have all the information about the PS3 version and how it might effect ME3.

peace

As a PS3 owner who desperatley wanted to play the Mass Effect series i was excited about yesterday's news. Especially since i was literally just about to buy a 360 primarily for this seires, thats £200 saved Posted Image

Im probably not the best person to judge since my allegiance is mostly with Sony, but the amount of abuse EA and Bioware isreceving is a little bit excessive. It's not as if Bioware has murderd their loved ones, it's a game series. 3rd party developers can't really be expected to survive if they only produce for a limited market (even with a super rich publisher like EA backing them). If Microsoft were so desprate to keep Mass Effect exclusive, they should do what Sony do and but the IP.

But back on topic, it's a bit annoying how the PS3 wont get the first game but i know a decent amount of the first games story to peice together parts (anything i don't, ill just check the wiki). How about they release Mass Effect 1 under a different name lol.

Baseless speculation is baseless.  Especially seeing the Bioware has already said that the ME1 decisions will carry over to ME3.

Yeah they also said Mass Effect 2 was exclusive to the 360……  You need to undetand that  EA is pulling the string now not Bioware.

So because EA / Bioware put ME2 out on PS3  EA will decide to scrap having  your choices in ME3 even though it's been one of the major selling points of the entire series?

That's quite a stretch.

What I’m saying is, I don’t trust what Bioware say anymore.  So I have my doubts about Mass Effect 3.

Except when it inevitably slows down the production of ME3.  Or when the target audience is so small as to be insignificant.

Probably they're going to have the default choices extend over to ME3, like killing Wrex and replacing the Council.

Or possibly this will be addressed in the "bonus content", I can see this pertaining to these choices.

It will not slow down production. The games all run on the same engine which is cross platform capable and will only need minor variations for each.

Should I post few BioWare statements about ME2 that proved to be pure BS?

2 to 3 years were already the estimated times

mass effect - 2007

mass effect 2- 2010

mass effect 3 - either 2012 or 2013

Personally I'm glad that their releasing mass effect 2 on the ps3. The only thing that upsets me is that they should've released mass effect1 on the ps3 so the players can get the full experience. What happened to importing your saved games? Mass effect 1 is an excellent game despite it's issues and I feel it should be released. Maybe bioware will release them together? Maybe that's the "extra" content? One can only hope...

Really ME2 came out 2 years and 2 months since ME1, so really it is going to be around March 2012.

This is the point I find most laughable.  ME1 was exclusive to the 360 for all of 6 months people.  The reaction around here is approaching what Bungie received when they announced they were going multi-platform.

That's true - but I don't think they can change their minds on this...  I seriously doubt they would want to anyway

They still have to spend several months programming it for the unnecessarily complicated ps3.
And of course they'll delay the release of ME3 for a long while after it's finished so the 2 people who actually buy it "have a chance to finish their game".

Answers:

1. They said it wouldnt affet the ME3 release
2. They said ME3 would still be impacted by ME1
3. Not any worse then xbox fanboys are. Seriously this is the pot calling the kettle black the way you put it.
4. As was MGS4 and FF for the PS3. Oh wait they are on xbox now too.

You guys really are selfish sometimes
