Only bummer here is to think of all the DLC we paid for...if the PS3 owners get that for free then for ME3 I don't want to pay for a single piece of DLC, seems about fair right?

I really don't mind if PS3 gets Mass Effect 2. What bothers me is that this could effect ME1 decision for PC/360 owners and that we will end up with half of the experience we were promised. Also exclusive DLC will be a kick where it hurts and if all the current DLC is released to PS3 owners for no cost, which means PC/360 owners will be ripped off even more.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true!

It may be somewhat disappointing, but we have to realize, that the PS3 guys are the new customer, while we already paid for the game, most of the DLC and if we want to get all the content (at least all the non-PS3-exclusive content) we are going to pay even more.
On the plus side, it may allow the Poles to play the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC.

Well, for PS3 players, there aren't ME1 choices as they can never play that game, so the fear is that BW will cut down on the importance of ME1 choices generally, across all platforms.

Unless they set of questions at the start of a new game to allow them to 'confirm Sheperd's history', and tweak the bigger decisions, but otherwise, I agree.

Yeah they're not gonna do that.  That's wasted energy when they can just TELL YOU WHAT YOU DID IN ME1.

Hmmm...I think I've heard of this before....

That said, congrats, PS3 owners. You're getting one of the best games ever made. Now go find a cheap copy of ME1 for the PC and get caught up.

Just don't get too excited about all those choices you took the time to make.  Because they won't matter since you can't import them from your PC to PS3.

Mass Effect came out in 2007.  Mass Effect 2 came out in 2010.  What makes you think that Mass Effect was going to come out before 2012?  Based on that release schedule, I would guess that to have the same level of polish and quality that ME2 has, ME3 will need at least 2 years of development.

Not to mention they ave been working on DLC and other projects.  I think 2012 is a very realistic time for ME3 to come out.

We are going to have to wait an extra year for ME3.

.....Hello?......

Not gonna happen. ME1 fans don't matter, neither do their choices, nor their romances.

Especially their romances.

I'm a big fan of the PS3 and had one long before I got a 360. In fact, ME2 was the reason I bought the 360, and I still only use it begrudgingly. So if anything I'm biased in favor of the PS3. Just to make that clear.

But this just doesn't make any sense. Or rather, it's more proof that Mass Effect isn't a trilogy in the sense that most of us would probably like it to be. I've always defended the handling of the ME1 characters and decisions in ME2, but ONE of the two being released on a different system with no access to the other, that just doesn't make any sense unless you don't think of these games as being connected in any meaningful sense. And that's not a good sign.

I wouldn't be too panicked, though, experience shows that cross-platform games are generally developed for the 360 first and then ported to PS3 because the 360 has the wider install base (same reason why the PS3 exclusives tend to be vastly superior to the cross-platform titles available for the system), so whatever happens with ME3, it'll be a 360 game first and foremost either way.

I would've much preferred if future non-Shepard Mass Effect games had been multi-platform. Nobody minds that Galaxy exists because it's not part of the trilogy. Wait, make that "trilogy".

Sigh.

Good for PS3 owners. I'm not gonna complain because I really don't see a reason to.

Well Bioware I think you can tell by the comments this wasn't the smartest of moves. But since you obviously have no loyalty to your fans (ie. Bioware Bazzar, ie. Mass Effect was suppose to be exclusive) and since this was obviously a decision made by EA and yall had no backbone to say no to them. Then I can't feel sorry ya. I just hope this means that ME3 will better funded and less sucky than ME2.

He..., he..., he "AH YES... exclusive content ala EA/Bioware..."

ME 2 was released as butchered game with promise of fill gaps in game via tons of DLCs... and what remain from those promises is easy check on this board (LotSB will be first story based DLC... and i am seriously start to thinking that last one as well).

Moreover i still remember many Bioware claims that Mass Effect franchise will NOT be extended above XBox and PC... what is turning now as another Bioware lie.

Who will give now guarantee that PS 3 players won't become more or less Special VIP players among all three platforms and they will get content which XBox and PC players will never ever see?

Great job Bioware in segregating your fan base at those who are worthy and unworthy recive special content...

Horrible...total sellouts. Exclusives are what make consumers buy consoles, nice to know someone who owns a PS3 doesn't need to run out and purchase a 360 to play one of the greatest games ever.

Whats next...Halo 3 to the Nintendo Wii? lol

Well, i don't think you noticed, but ME2 IS AVAIABLE on PC - so it's not an exclusive game. I have a funny feeling - that most of you guys are fanboys, who just can't get over with the decision of Bioware - why can't you just understand that the ME franchise is going to get more popular? (i. e. in Japan - where PC and Xbox 360 are almost non-existent?)

Okay, reading this thread kind of makes me sad to be a gamer.

That some of you guys are so petty as to chuck a sad about a game going to a console you don't own?

I owned both a 360 and a PS3 (until my xbox died before I got a chance to play ME2).

I played ME2 without my ME1 save and didn't care the slightest, I enjoyed the game as a new character, and read about the first stories plot on wiki as I had forgot it after playing.

Anyone that cares enough to buy this game on PS3 for the plot will look at the wiki.

Anyone that buys this game to play for enjoyment will not care so much for the plot (enough is explained anyway).

This whole brand loyalty is stupid.

Just be excited that a VIDEO GAME you LOVE will be played and loved by a whole new group of people.

Thanks BioWare, you just screwed up my day. I mean, come on. Xbox has been getting far less exclusives recently and now the best game will move to PS3? I'm glad it'll be in 5 months, but still! BioWare, I am disappoint.

Lets hope ME3 stays Xbox/PC exclusive, and PS3 won't/will get it in a year.

EDIT: Yes, I am a Fanboy, and I'm actually proud of it :).

I wouldn't go as far as you do, but I feel a little slapped in the face. Not that they are putting it on PS3 that is fine. I am just a little pissed that PS3 owners get the FREE content that Xbox owners have had to pay for. You should give us Xbox owners the rest of the DLC free bioware.

What a bunch of selfish children on this forum. Microsoft still owns part of ME1. Who the **** cares if more people get to play this amazing game. Shut up with their loyalty to xbox its a console!!! People need to get over it more people will play this game that you feel your so entitled to. Please just be happy more people can play the ME games

Very nice.  I like the way you think.  I would jump on that in an instant.

I wonder if the "hours of bonus content" will be a truncated version of ME1 with ME2 gameplay that will serve as an extended prologue to the ME2 game? I think that would be cool, otherwise everone will have dead Councils, opposite sex Virmire Survivors, etc., and that's not something we all want.

Since I actually loathe the console that is PS3 I'm rather unhappy with this decision. But sure, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the wonder we all know as Mass Effect couldn't possibly be harmful. We cannot be that selfish, now can we?

Although I've got to admit; if that "bonus content" is stuff that I've had to pay extra for (as a loyal consumer and fanatic), I sincerely need to shed a tear out of jealousy, and then feel self pity for an hour about the unfair treatment. That'd feel sort of like busting your ass off for years pleasing your boss, and then have the newly hired guy promoted for nothing.

Whilst the implications of the existence of a PS3 port of the game are somewhat worrying with regards to the significance of any ME1 choices, it may not be as disastrous as some may think. Suppose that the PS3 players are able to select the major ME1 choices upon starting a new game in ME2? I'm thinking:

- Love interest

- Rachni Queen

- Status of Wrex

- The surviving Alliance soldier

- Possible sacrifice of the Citadel Council

- Selection of either Udina or Anderson for human councilor

Obviously, minor choices would be completely ignored and would adhere to the ME2 "default" settings, like whether Fist survived or how the player completed Helena Blake's missions. However, it may allow PS3 players to select their own choices for the MAJOR decisions, and ignore the smaller, more insignificant ones.

I am aware of the fact that it is somewhat convulted, and also unlikely, but it's a thought nonetheless.

Cool! I prefer the PS3 platform, I will probably get the PS3 version of the game, just to see how different it is. I bet the graphics will be far superior.

Considering how multiplatform releases generally compare, that would really be a first. And this from a colossal PS3 fanboy, who only got x360 for Mass Effect games.

That said, the Normandy sweep looks pretty good in the trailer. PC version? :)

If you've noticed, most people don't
mind ME2 being released on PS3. I know I don't. People are just
concerned about the possible consequences for ME3 and possible PS3
exclusive DLC.

And obviously, he's not referring to you guys, but the ones who actually do mind that it's being released on PS3 ;)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that any "exclusive" content is going to be something that takes place BEFORE ME2, something like an abbreviated ME1 with maybe Noveria, Virmire, Ilos and Citadel ending in some form. Perhaps called "Mass Effect: Genesis", as the rumors made out before today's release.
