Microsoft is honestly the most stupid company to have ever entered the video games market,i mean if they keep this up we might just see halo and gears on wii.How can you buy the rights to the first game and see it was succesful and not buy the rights for the other two???

It's possible that they tried and EA out & out refused them.

Realistically, there's no way that Microsoft could actually pay them enough that it would actually be worth it.
You can make boatloads of cash on a multiplatform game.

It's also possible that Microsoft either assumed that EA would never try it since they couldn't release ME1 with it, or that Microsoft wised up since what happened with both Ninja Gaiden games and just figured they'd save their money.

At this point, can I just interject on the DLC issue with a little mathematics. Now, I'm in the UK so will be using UK currency. Convert into US Dollars if you so wish.

Now, the DLC we've got thus far is as follows:

Alternate Appearance Pack 1 -  160 MS Points
Kasumi - Stolen Memory  - 560 MS Points
Equalizer Pack - 160 MS Points
Overlord  Missions - 560 MS Points
Aegis Pack - 160 MS Points
Firepower Pack -160 MS Points

This is a total of 1760 MS Points worth of paid DLC. The rest is free with the Cerberus Network if you buy a new copy of the game.

Now, XBL doesn't accept my debit card, as it isn't a credit card, so I have to go buy those little MS Points cards you can get in the shops. They cost me £17.99 for 2100 MS Points.

This means that the DLC, at 1760 MS Points, cost me £15. Well, £15.08, actually. Or it would have done, if I'd have bothered buying all of it. I didn't bother with the Aegis pack. Anyhow, £15 for all the DLC.

Given that at this time (well, not right now, it's night time...) I can walk into a store and buy a NEW copy of Mass Effect 2 for £19.99 (thus getting the Cerberus Network stuff free), this means that as an Xbox 360 owner I can, as of today, purchase Mass Effect 2 and ALL of the DLC for the total price of £35.

If this game is released for the PS3 with DLC included as a full price game, that'll also be around £35, if not more. So we're not being ripped off any more than we are already by people buying the game now that the price has dropped.

To be honest, if they end up charging a typical GOTY brand new price of £40+, they could probably even include the Liara DLC and it'd still work out fine.

guys The dlc will be sold separately and not included in the game (more cash)

u can't possibly think they are gonna put in there for free

Cerberus network anyone . so no ps3 user shouldn't get special treatment

They already confirmed that the game would include all the current DLC, which is fine because they are probably going to charge full price for a game that is $30 on other platforms.

It's not fine for entitled people, which is evident in the majority of the posts here.
Even if all the current DLC were made free that still wouldn't be enough for the entitled people who paid for it.

Sure, they got to enjoy the full game plus DLC content for a whole year before the PS3 crowd will, but it's still not fair for some reason. But whatever, it's probably not fair to them that PS3 owners get to enjoy the game at all.

How fair is it that PS3 only owners had to wait a year longer to play it?

blame the director that said it would be only on PC and 360 those who paid for the DLC shouldnt have to suffer for PS3 to get it free thats all im saying if they are gonna make it free bioware EA whatever should do somthing to make it up to those that bought it if they make it free for PS3 understand??

What is there that needs to be made up for? For making a decision to bring THEIR PROPERTY to another platform???? You are and end user, you have no real rights to your copy of ME2 or any of the DLC, say you decide to get rid of your 360 and decide to play just on PC, guess what you cant keep the DLC. You bought it at the time when it was sold for a price that you decided to pay, nobody made you buy it, you choose to buy it, but you are an end user, you have no real rights to it, again Bioware and EA OWN THE RIGHTS TO THEIR PROPERTY therefore anything they do with it is their right. There is nothing that needs to be made up for, they dont owe you anything.

so your saying that they cant be fair to the customer the one that helps provide them money is that what your saying ???

your interpretation of FAIR, which I dont know what world you're living in but the world most of us are in tune with is not a very fair world, but your interpretation of fairness is that Bioware and EA give you MORE free stuff(how much has Cerberus Network provided free? which they could have charged you for) for a BUSINESS DECISION they made with THEIR OWN PROPERTY. Years from now when ME2 is 19.99 are you going to flip out on the retailer for selling it for 19.99 when you paid 59.99-79.99???

You interpret fairness as someone providing you with a means to be a freeloader just because you dont agree with a choice they have the legal and creative rights to make, and that's fine everyone goes about their days differently, but just because you see fair as one thing doesnt mean Bioware and EA see it that way too.

no i dont care about how much the game costs that was to be expected what im talking about is the DLC why should PS3 get it free is what i saying i got the collectors ED. the price on mass effect 2 dropped i dont care about that that pair i know is my fault im saying PS3 owners should pay for DLC too why should it be thrown into their laps the director said in the interview check the game informer about what systems get ME2 why lie and then go " by the way 360 and PC fans PS3 GETS ALL THE DLC FOR FREE " all im asking is if bioware listens to us for advice on a good game and all that then make ps3 pay for the DLC the game itself is already a lower price.

the PS3 version of ME2 is 59.99-79.99(depending on collectors editions) how is it lower for PS3 users????
think of it like this ME2 you can buy from a major retailer for what 39.99 for 360, and probably find it for less from other shops, with a Cerberus code. So lets think about this 59.99(PS3) - 39.99(360) = 20.00 how much $$$ does the DLC that you PAY for as of this DATE cost? I'm sure it's about 20+ bucks wow PS3 users arent really getting anything for nothing now are they???

Why is this news suppose to be exciting for the me community who already bought the f***ing game???The least they could have done was to announce a f***ing release date for the shadow broker dlc.ME2 is not like any other shooter in which you can pickup the story at any given entry,to fully appreciate the greatness of it you need to play the first one, what bioware and ea are trying is a shallow attempt to grab some more cash in me2 (which is what they are suppose to do) but they might as well fail since most ps3 owners might not get it for the sole purpose of not having played the first one.

i am a ps3 owner and  i've played ME1 through a friend, another friend i have came to know the story through let's plays on youtube, so no it's not guaranteed to fail on ps3, us who are interested have already researched the story of the first so we can be prepared for ME2 though ME1 for ps3 would also be a welcome addition.

Its not the same reading and researching a story than to live a story....but alas at least ea is going to seel some copies still i know more than 10 ps3 ownere who are not getting it ..... alsome was one of the franchises bashed by ps3 fanboys since they couldnt play it i guess the good thing is now they will have to shut their mout off (of course they are now gonna brag about how they got another once microsoft exclusive)

But porting the game and whatever content they should choose to include isnt a error or mistake, that's a business decision they are making as a company, I'm not exactly seeing a connection of how their decision to do business is something that "harms" you out of a mistake.

You have your right to the way you feel about everything but I just dont see the connection, I mean XBL made a mistake and listed DLC that was "intended" for those who paid for the Collectors Edition of ME2, but XBL never made amends for that mistake, yet somehow Bioware making a business decision is terrible?

In addition to that, would everyone HONESTLY that are freaking out about all this which let's be honest there is not a lot of hard factual information on anyways, be ok and cool about Bioware providing new ME2 buyers for 360 and PC the majority of DLC out there via the Cerb Net, for free? If you're ok with that then why not for the PS3?

Lying it's a mistake. Or not precisely a mistake, but something they should apologize for.

Why not simply telling us "we are going to freaking port ME 2 to the PS3 with all the free DLC included on the disc on January 2011 and exclusive content. You have the choice to buy the game now, or get the complete version later".

That would have been honest, companys like Square enix announce their ports BEFORE the game it's released (FF XIII; for example, this company is HONEST), not several months later once they have milked money from their fans.

The people on Bioware are liars, and i hate liars.

http://kotaku.com/54...bioware-says-no

if they had would you have waited a year, hell no you wouldnt have. Unless you work in Bioware's offices then you dont know when they precisely made the decision to start porting it. SO whatever was said in December and January, Spring etc prior to when they exactly started porting doesnt make a difference, we have politicians that lie, but as soon as they are replaced by a worse politician everyone and their sister says that other guy was really honest, I dont like the new guy. It's the same situation here, you dont like their decision so you're mad, you feel they "lied" directly to you with the intent of ruining your life and you're lashing out, if they announced tomorrow the PS3 port is cancelled you'd be all fine and dandy about them again.

If you feel so strongly about how they "milked you" for your money by FORCING you to buy DLC, and feel that now that they are liars in your eyes, and we know how you hate liars then sell your Bioware stuff and move on to something that doesnt cause you such personal pain and misery.

so your saying now that we should just give up and let it happen to others??

I AM selling my bioware stuff (most likely, if i can sell it at a good price), but that doesn't mean i don't enjoy their  games.

I simply won't support them again, i'm just renting their games from now on, buying cheaply used, not downloading DLC etc.

At least that way i won't be losing that much money the next time they lie about something., it's not about the game, it's about how i feel defrauded as a consumer.

LOL - *watches fanboys hurl themselves off cliffs

The almighty dollar (well not so mighty anymore but you get the point) is all that matters. This is good for PS3 owners - what I need from BW now (wont hold my breath) is a gamesave importer for my Xbox save so I can purchase ME3 on PS3 if it looks as good as the Xbox version - no disk swap would be nice. Unless they screw us by making ME3 a quick conclusion and then start with the annual multi-platfrom spinoffs

...Sad...cynical..... but you know thats what the suits are angling for.

before selling everything you may want to hold onto it for evidence, since Bioware stole money from you and all, you'll need the evidence so I'd get in touch with your local law enforcement to report theft of your money by BioWare.

“One of the things we’re doing is that we’re bringing a lot of the post-release downloadable content and will integrate it into the experience, so that PS3 fans can check that out and play it,” he said.

While confirming the inclusion of an introductory segment for the PS3 SKU, Muzyka was cagey on specifics, refusing to confirm whether or not new gameplay is to be included over the 360 and PS3 version.

He added: “We haven’t revealed what that is yet. It’ll be something that provides a good introduction and provides a lot of the back-story and
introduces you well to the story-arc, and kind of makes you feel like
you’re part of it all. And then you can jump right into the action in
Mass Effect 2.”

Details are pretty sketchy at this point. We don't know what DLC content is going to make it in, and we don't know exactly how this introduction is going to be or if anything will be added to the PC / 360 versions. All we can do is stop panicking and wait for more details to surface.

How the hell did you lose money?  Did you play the game at 30-40 of playtime?  Did you play through it more than once?  It's a freaking video game - Were you expecting it to increase in value?

Maybe it's because I own all 3 consoles, but I have to ask...
Who cares if a game is exclusive or not? Wouldn't you prefer that a game be multiplatform so everyone can enjoy it, and so that the developer makes a larger profit on them that can be put towards the budget of future titles?

Maybe it's good business now but it'll eventually bite you in the butt. If it's free for PS3 owners then it sends a message to those who paid that Bioware doesn't care about them.

It's no different than a cel phone company or cable company offering promotional rates to attract new customers that existing customers can't get.

Seriously?  How is any different from the GoTY edition that is certainly going to be released for the 360 and PC?  Why should those people get it for free?  You guys have got to be kidding me.

It ain't worth it Obie.  They're literally too stupid to understand this concept.

Can't help myself.  At 40 years old and as a gamer for the past 25 years I swear the gaming community is getting dumber and dumber.  Or maybe I am getting old and cynical.

before selling everything you may want to hold onto it for evidence, since Bioware stole money from you and all, you'll need the evidence so I'd get in touch with your local law enforcement to report theft of your money by BioWare.

JA! A funny one i see.

Your loss.  Bioware makes great games.  Pretty stupid to give them up because you're too much of a fanboy and/or girl.

Did you at least read what i wrote?

I am not giving up on Bioware, i will PLAY all the games they release, i just simply won't be buying their games new, and i won't be supporting them anymore, that's all.

And i'm not a fanboy, i currently own all consoles of this generation (except PSP, which is my friend's) adn PC, i just feel tricked and insulted as a CONSUMER, and as a CONSUMER i won't be supporting bioware anymore (they already got enough money from Microsoft and/or SONY, they do not need more).

But as a gamer, i will keep playing their games, that's for sure.

If you're truly 40 years old and reacting that dramatically to all this, then I feel sorry for you...

Also, "dumber" is not a word.

Now its, damn they screwed me out of my money because I wont get it exculsive so I can taunt my (insert rival console here) enemies about how much awesomer I am.

And the sense of entitlement. Its INSANE I SAY.:wizard:
