Why aren't they releasing Mass Effect 1 too ? After all that time, they could scrap the exclusivity deal with M$. After all, Microsoft got Final fantasy XIII...

Yeah. I agree but as long as M$ is still flourishing, I doubt it would happen.

the reason why they can't release mass effect 1 is because it was published by microsoft instead of EA. Therefore EA are not allowed to port this game as well because microsoft own it, sorry, but mass effect 1 is remaining an xbox/pc exclusive

Therefore I conclude M$ is a crappy company. Even though I own an Xbox 360 and a PC with Windows Vista (Yeah, it sucks)

What I don't get is why BW decided NOT to add ME1. ME2 screws you over if you haven't played the first.

It's not Bioware's decision.  The first game was released throght Microsoft, not EA, and they have certain rights to the first game.  Microsoft isn't about to let Sony make free with something that they control, and I don't blame them.  They are, after all, business competitors.

Understood, but playing ME2 without ME1 is like watching the Empire Strikes Back without seeing Star Wars.  Just not the same.  Posted Image

True that may be, but the blame for that really rests with EA and Sony.  They knew full well that Microsoft wouldn't relinquish their rights to the first game, but they went ahead with the release.  Now the burden of somehow integrating gameplay and decisions from the first game to the second will also rest with them.  I don't blame Microsoft at all for their reaction.

Truthfully, I wouldn't really care about this issue at all, except for the concerns that it raises over the third game, and the issue of this 'bonus content' that PS3 players are promised.  If the bonus turns out to be all the DLC up to this point, and for free, than that really is a slap in the face to people who have been steadily shelling out money for all the downloads.  (And that includes PC gamers.)  I freely admit that I don't know much about who actually releases the content and sets the price, but I hope it has occurred to them that this will possibly discourage current gamers from buying any future DLC.

Go look at who published ME1 and get back to us.

Microsoft are a bunch of b!tches that want to keep ME1's exclusivity to MS-associated platforms. That explains it.

I swear you fanboys get dumber by the day. Are you an adult or a child? I ask because of this... If you are an adult, you need to seek mental help as soon as you can. Adults don't act the way you guys do.

No its not, it would be if all the DIC came yesterday and everyone bought it and they today everyine who waited a day could get for free. But thats not the case.

who cares what platform it goes on, let them make their games for whoever, the only people who benefits from console wars and multiplatform games is us the gamers, as we have a broader choice of where we'd like to play the game and thanks to a broader distribution on the market to multiple platforms, more money is made by the companies who work hard to make these games. If they are good companies like Bioware....(not EA, which has no soul) we can all assume that the quality of future games from BW will improve.

i would agree with you but microsoft is losing it.. they only got reach and GeOW 3 left
while sony gets microsoft's (timed)"exclusives" with extra content and still has alot of exclusives themselves
exclusives are what keep Devs in a constant competition with others and motivated to be better
with the ps3 in the lead xbox players feel cheated... or robbed and will most likely switch over for a better expirience thus rendering 360 obsolete and sony will have no one to compete with.. leaving them to cheat us anyway they see fit.

im seeing this as a gamer who wants equal great expiriences from both ends not just one

and no im no fanboy so please do not start

Agreed.  The only console that is out now that I don't have is that nintendo kiddie-thingy.  Posted Image

Dude, don't talk smack about the GameCube.  Eternal Darkness was fantastic and Resident Evil 4 was one of the greatest games I've played before ME.

Wow, this just came to me, it's funny how ME2 being exclusive and now being ported over towards the PS3 reminds me how RE4 was exclusive for the GCN then was ported over to the PS2.   How ironic.

Fanboy? I own an Xbox. I'm not a fan of Microsoft. I know that keeping it's exclusivity is a logical choice but the corporate world is very dirty. Drop it.

This. Not to mention this now makes ME1 seem kind of pointless. I just hope during their development of ME3 someone remembers the gamers who made the series so poppular and get the giant middle finger out of our faces.Posted Image

Well it was brought up ealier.  And it is exactly the same.

RE4 had bonus content that linked RE4 to the previous games in teh PS2 version

Then the Wii version came later and combined the best of both games, the content of the PS2 and the un-spoiled engine of the Gamecube version

That reminds me. Wasn't an MGS game ported to the Xbox? That was very ironic considering that Kojima was highly critical of MS.

EA publishing the PC version would be as controversial as Nintendo publishing a Mario spinoff on the DS.  Windows IS a Microsoft system.

Plus that game will be over three years old by the time ME 2 is suppose to come out for PS3

Yes MGS2 and it had bonus content

That was later ported back to PS2 and PC.  NOtroriously bad PC port

Oh yeah, That's right. Unfortunately, MS funded the production of Mass Effect so I guess they have a pact.

It's not a slap on the face. Including the DLC on the PS3 version is just the same as releasing a "Game of the year" edition, something that is very common these days. What I wonder is if it's possible to release a Mass Effect Sigma for the PS3 though,

A lot of companies are signing deals with Sony for exclusive content (GOTY, DLC, Early betas, Ect.). I don't get how on earth Valve would (correct me if I'm wrong)...

I gotta chime in on this. They've already announced ME3 will incorporate over 1000 variables from ME 1 and 2. I doubt they will cut this down because of a PS3 port.

You could play ME2 without playing ME1. You had the option, but you didn't HAVE to. They will likely give PS3 players a way of making some of the choices or following the assumptions already done.

This means nothing for the issue of imported choices for ME3. Maybe overall quality as a dual launch means divided resources and the PS3 is notoriously hard to dev/optimize for (not fanboy talking, I don't care either way)

i Swear fanboys are annoying. I mainly am a PC gamer but I also have a 360 and a Will. Never been a big Sony fan but I sear some of you seem to think that this spells the end of Microsoft, PC and 360 gaming and the end of the world. Hate to burst your bubble but that aint the case. The 360 and Microsoft are still in decent shape and PC gaming will never die. This is kinda shocking that they are doing this but I don't think it in any way will hurt the third game or be the deciding factor in the "console war".

Can't EA really do nothing against MS holding the rights to ME1? Because this way, PS3 owners will not be very happy with ME2. Will they be able to import saves from the PC or 360 perchance?

Bioware has been in chains since sell out-
you noticed they  toned down the love scenes because EA did not want bad press.-
Just enjoy the game and try NOT to think about how EA/Bioware is about to give PS3 owners all DLC for free.
When it was just Bioware they cared about the fans-when EA took over the Fans were screwed.

I think the main problem with many is the fact that ME1 is *not* getting ported to the PS3 as well. This means that if Bioware were to make ME3 for the PS3 as well, then there is a high chance that whatever happened/whatever choices the player made in ME1 would be rendered irrelevant, because part of the story would be made canon.

It's not about fanboys whining about Bioware betraying Microsoft. It's about Bioware screwing over Mass Effect 1.

What's funny about that though is the game got more adult in many other ways, particularly the language.
