I hope that expanding the ME audience will allow more ME content to be made in the future. More money for a franchise usually means we see more of that franchise. And now I'll be able to talk to my PS3 friends about ME.

and in cases were its been speculated the PS3 will get all the ME2 DLC, they are threatening a boycott,, Boycott what exactly, something you already bought and paid for?, Its crazy behaviour guys get a grip will you?,
Also, the playstation 3 and xbox 360 does NOT come with a fanboy membership so drop this nonsense as well, and get to grips with the fact that one of the two consoles is better than the other, which ever one you think is the best, then this is your choice, so leave it at that and stay on topic as this thread is cluttered with too much nonsense as it is.
If your really so determind to know which console is better (even in the slightest degree), THEN GOOGLE IT,
and then get on with your life!

How is it rendered irrellevant? I'm certain that Bioware will keep the ME1 choices in the game, it just means PS3 players will have less endings available.
I doubt that - then the PS3 fanboys will start complaining/boycotting the Mass Effect series as an "inferior" port of an XBox game that they may as well play on the PC.
The PS3 fanboys spent the last 2 years ****ing about how much the ME series sucks. How it being only on PC and Xbox 360 was fine because the games and 360 both sucked. Now those same fanboys are all excited.
And now the 360/PC fanboys are lamenting how ME3 will suck now that it's cross platform.YouBlk_Mage_Ctype's wrote..
there it is Worst case scenario, the PS3 Version of ME3 gets toned down so that ME1's choices play a smaller role
put that very poetically but its exactly what many other people already
stated that ME1 decisions probably will not have the influence they
would have had without the port its only logical that people that are
with the ME from the beginning are pissed about this.
if you
think that the port likely also is the reason that ME1 Decisions had
practically no impact on ME2 whatsoever since the PS3 code is present in
the game all along.
Do you seriously believe that only the PS3 version of ME3 would be affected ?
that is the Reason some people go a-wal here.
PS3 code is there because of the engine. It's also in Gears of War and several other "exclusives"

Did they say it was ME3's Team? Because I'll seriously LMAO if they did. Bioware is a HUGE developer with a bunch of teams. The same team that's doing ME3 isn't doing DA2 or SWTOR, so I'd be extremely surprised if the ME3 Dev Team dropped ME3 to go work on a port.
Handling the actual port, yes, it seems kinda silly to task the Mass Effect team with that. It's not the end of the world anyway if the ME team has to do it itself, as people have brought up that the game engine Mass Effect uses is cross-platform. But coming up with "exclusive content" for the PS3 version (such as content that "acquaints PS3 players to the ME universe") would probably be handled by the ME team.
Which means...well, who knows? The PS3 exclusive content hasn't been announced yet. But it does seem to me that the ME team will have to be involved with the PS version, in some way. Which means less time for/delayed launch of Mass Effect 3, especially if the ME2 port is kinda something that just happened and not planned for.
Which seems to be the case - wasn't it only a couple months ago that Bioware was vehemently shooting down rumours of a PS3 port?

Since the release of Dragon Age, Bioware has gotten the technical know-how to work with the PS3 and the one of the reasons as to why the console ports of Dragon Age were as bad as they were was because Bioware didn't make port those games. Now that they have the resources to get this done I am confident that everything will be at comparable quality for Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Effect 2.
What Bioware ultimately want's are games that sell in the millions and have large fan bases. The more people that are able to enjoy their games the better. If you cant understand such a simple concept then you need to get your head checked. I can support this and I will purchase the PS3 version when it drops as I have been wanting to play both Mass Effects game for quite a while. If I can't play ME1 then oh well, it wont stop me from playing nor enjoying ME2.
Someone also brought up the fact that PS3 has exclusives. Know what would be a great thing for Microsoft to have great exclusive, first party developers. Almost all the exclusives for PS3 have come out of Sony themselves and not by other developers such as EA, Capcom, or Square-Enix. The fact people bring up exclusives is not a good argument because third parties are not required to make their game for just 1 console unless there's money involved. Xbox relies to heavily on third parties and that's their problem.

who cares what platform it goes on, let them make their games for whoever, the only people who benefits from console wars and multiplatform games is us the gamers, as we have a broader choice of where we'd like to play the game and thanks to a broader distribution on the market to multiple platforms, more money is made by the companies who work hard to make these games. If they are good companies like Bioware....(not EA, which has no soul) we can all assume that the quality of future games from BW will improve.
i would agree with you but microsoft is losing it.. they only got reach and GeOW 3 left
while sony gets microsoft's (timed)"exclusives" with extra content and still has alot of exclusives themselves
exclusives are what keep Devs in a constant competition with others and motivated to be better
with the ps3 in the lead xbox players feel cheated... or robbed and will most likely switch over for a better expirience thus rendering 360 obsolete and sony will have no one to compete with.. leaving them to cheat us anyway they see fit.
im seeing this as a gamer who wants equal great expiriences from both ends not just one
and no im no fanboy so please do not start
No, exclusives aren't what keep developers in a constant competition. Other developers and other games (in the same genre) are, regardless of platform (at least that sounds logical to me). Exclusives are what keeps the console war going. Personally I hope they'll all go away more or less, at least for consoles that compete for the same custormers, like the PS3 and the 360.
And I don't see why people should jump platforms from 360 to PS3 just because they lose a couple of exclusives this far into the current generation. And if there's a difference between multiplatform version of games, they more often look better on the 360 anyway for some reason. And finally, ME2 isn't a 360 exclusive anyway so I fail to see how this will affect anything other that PS3 owners getting to play a magnificent game. I just hope the development of ME3 won't get delayed or something like that. That would suck.

From reading around, it appears that the 'hours of additional content' is content to introduce the backstory, as Microsoft are grasping firmly onto ME1 stating "[...] the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience". It also appears that the game will be shipping with all of the post-dlc which is already available. So no need to get any knickers in twists at the moment, as the 'additional content' looks like it will be a summarised version of ME1.
I have no qualms with a PS3 release. I am a little annoyed by the fact that we have all been amped regarding upcoming ME news, and it turns out to be an announcement for PS3. We've been constantly reminded that the 'Mass Effect Franchise is definately not coming to the Playstation 3 Platform". This was further denied after the PS3 code was found in the PC version of Mass Effect 2.
If your going to do it, just do it. Don't be all secretive about it, getting existing fans excited about new information only to be disappointed about a dated port...
How about softening the blow with some information on ME3?
The only thing that I'm hoping for now, is a solid date on ME3, without a pushback on the PC/360 version to accommodate for a simultaneous release on all platforms. It happened with Final Fantasy for PS3 owners when a 360 version was announced...

I have seen a GROUP being made just to create a boycott, petition, and protest and against having Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 at all. Not surprising that only 6 people are in the group. Just goes to show you that these fanboys have no lives and do nothing but b**** and moan:bandit:

The thought of a Rachni army was actually a afterthougt if I'm honest during game I took the "help Ceberus renagde option" on my paragon playthrough. Wasn't really thinking about the massive army effect it may or may not have. I've yet to import my "kill rachni queen" save.
So I wasn't actively going out of my way to create a army, but my actions in game seem to be heading to that conclusion anyway xD
